I'm trying to bind data to a combo box but it does not appear to be working. I've setup the DataSet and the DataSetBindingSource and all this appears to be working, within the form design I can expand the little arrow in the ComboBox control and preview the data. This appears to be working but when the application is run, nothing appears in the drop down box.
I have a combobox that is databound to my webservice. Code works perfect.

My issue is I need to be able to call that function from another form. I have a form that I add a new customer with and want to refresh the data in the combo box, and select it has the selected item. How do I do this? I have tried several ways, and it just does not work.
I've done data binding to my Combos and it works fine but my data base has over 260 000 entries, so I can't let user to move trough it, one by one entry until finds a match. What I am looking for is that user select value from Combo Boxes and Text Boxes get filled in with a matching values from the same row.Auto Complete helps in selection but I still can't work it out how to get values to my text boxes.
This is the contents of the text file:[code]I have a combo box on a form and I want to bind some of the data from the text file, the stuff highlighted in bold, to the combo box.
At work we have this really old excel spreadsheet with movable points in it.This feature no longer works in '07 so I have decided to try and make a VB form to replicate it's functionality.I have the concept down of what I'm gonna do, I'm using sliders for the movable points and I'm using a data grid view for all of the numbers they are just going to type in, and then I have a button that saves all of the data to the database that it links with.I've figured out how to get everything working except the button that saves the data. So there are 4 separate databases attached to sliders and another one that is part of the data grid view. What am I going to have to put into that button under the click event in order to make it save the values in all of these databases?
I have combo box being filled with more than 50 thousand records. it is getting sometime to load and bind the data. I am using datatable to bind the data. I tried using data-reader as well but in vain.
I am having a problem setting up my combo box to pull its menu from a SQL Server table and store to the main data table.Currently my drop down list displays correctly but saves 'System.Data.DataRowView' to the data table. My main data table is called 'Survey' with staffname as a column, then I have another menu table of staff member names which populates the drop down menu.I found that when I remove the DataSource and populate the Items collection instead the combo box saves the correct value as expected but when I use the datasource it saves the words ''System.Data.DataRowView',[code]
You have a pseudo-table class and a pseudo-row class. The row is somewhat generic and has no strongly-typed fields. It follows the typical dictionary interface
Dim age As Object = person("Age") 'accessed via default property Item
vs
Dim age As Integer = person.Age 'an actual property typed as an Integer
What's the pattern to use so that we can bind our pseudo table and its rows to a grid or combo box?
Dim rs As New clsResultSet(tblPeople) Dim id As Object = rs(0)("Id") '913 Dim name As Object = rs(0)("Name") 'Ted[code].....
Is it possible to bind a button to an object? I have a situation where I create lots of buttons dynamically and add them to a form, each button corresponds to a record in a database table, I want the button to hold all the info in the record without the need to search for the data each time I press it. I've already have the info in the tag property as a delimited string, but the process of extracting the info from the string is not efficient. if I add one new value I have to add the code to extract that info using string manipulation. I would rather have an object that represents the record so I can access each value directly.
In a manufacturing environment I'm using an Access database to store properties of manufactured parts. I've queried a table to fill a datatable, which then populates the attached form.
so i started a program yesterday and after a whole day of tinkering with codes i have realised that something was wrong with my old program and i have started again.
I have a DataGridView on a form in VB.NET, that is being populated from a SQL table dataset by giving criteria from a previous form. I have 6 columns in the dataset, of which the last column should be combo box column containing items "Done" and "Pending". How do I make this bound column to a combo box column and display the value as well as the alternate item too in the combo box?
I'm fairly new to visual basic and have a problem that is probably quite easy to solve yet I have been unable to do it so far and am about at wits end.I have an access database with a table that contains a list of cities and states. what i would like to do is to populate a combo box on a vb form with a list of the states in the states column. the query that i have is as follows:
SELECT DISTINCT State from Cities I have previewed the data in the dataset designer and it works, i just can't figure out how to make it fill the combo box. i initially created a table with just all of the states and then used a binding source and table adapter to bind it to the combo box, but if I'm able to figure this out this would help with my application going forward
i am new with visual studio 2008 and basic I have a combobox1 and combobox2 that are representing cities Combobox1 represents departure city and combobox2 destination city. Now i have a combobox3 that i want to load when i click it and run this sql query:
SELECT time_departure FROM routes WHERE (departure = Combobox1.value) AND (destination = Combobox2.value)
so when running the .exe of the application ,after selecting departure and destination ,when i click on the combobox3 ("hours") it will generate the results of the upper sql query as options to select. All i need is the code between this:Private Sub ComboBox3_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ComboBox3.Click End Sub
I am a developing an application based on VB 2008 express and a MYSQL database.I have created a database called octupus_db and inside it there is a table called customers.I now have a combo box on my form and i want it to populate its contents from field called town inside the customers table. How do do this? [code]but now connection a table and a field with my application is the next night mare, tried .
I am writing a school project in VB2005 and am trying to hook up a second combo box that gets its information of what to display from the first combo box. My application is where a student takes a "test" but they can choose what instructor they want in the first combo box. From there, they choose from a test of what each instructor offers in the second combo box. As of right now, my first combo box works great and my second combo box has nothing in it. Just a note, when I debug, it shows my iUserID value as 0.
I have been reading books and the forums for a rew days now trying to work out how to use any control to carry out the following:Basically, I want to display a selection e.g "Club Name" in a combobox (or similar control) and have the ID of that selection in a separate hidden column e.g. "ClubID". This will allow me to easily reference and store the actual "ClubID" in the required record when I save it back to the database.I can not use the "SelectedIndex" property of the control as the combobox is populated from a 'sorted' stored procedure so the "SelectedIndex" does not match the actual index of the selection.
I have found lots of posts saying use the "ListView" control, but none of them actually show examples of how to bind the control to a data control to acheive what I need. What I am after is a turorial showing ADO code (because I want to hard code this to get a better understanding of how it all works) binding a multi-column control to a SQL database.
how to use the VS 2010 IDE tools in a way the Microsofties didn't specifically intend. But since this is something I immediately tried without success.
I have defined a .NET 4.0 WPF Application project with a simple class that looks like this:
Public Class Class1 Public Property One As String = "OneString" Public Property Two As String = "TwoString"
[Code]....
The expected result was that "OneString" would appear next to "One" and "TwoString" next to "Two" in the running window.
The question is: Why didn't this work? What will work instead? If I put bindings in a DataTemplate, it works. Blend, with its sample data stuff, implied that this should work, but it doesn't.
i hve create combobox & text box and add database source to my project...i know how to binding data or load data to combobox using SELECT query..but can i change SELECT to INSERT query cz i wont when i type data into textbox, data will be in database...second..can i binding without add database to project..i mean mydatabase in debug folder..i hve problem binding data if database is not in myproject..
Data binding should be an extremely simple thing to manage but I can't find a SIMPLE solution to the following problem.
I have two forms
Form1 contains a 4x4 MSFlexGrid (unfortunately an unmanaged COM object but I can merge cells, which I can't do with a managed Datagrid)
Form2 contains other controls which change the data in the Flexgrid.
I connect the two with a Public 4x4 array. Form2 changes the data in this array. I can update the grid data by reading the array. But how do I bind the Grid to the array so that it auto-updates - which is the whole point of binding isn't it?
I have a listbox in my form that gets its values from a data table by data binding. My question is, when the data (row) is loaded it also selects the first line automatically. I do not want this because I want the listbox to select an item only when the user clicks on it. Otherwise, the iteme should ony be listed. Is there a way to manage this?
i want to binding excel data to a datagrid without no header, just the data.for example :my excel files consist of 3x3 matriks data in 3x3 excel cell like this
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
and i want to show all this data on data grid i have tried with some code like this
Dim MyCommand As System.Data.OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter Dim ds As New DataSet MyConnection = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection("provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; " & _
[code]....
but the first row of that data ( 1 2 3 ) is not shown up in the datagrid, just the 2nd and the 3rd row that shown up in datagrid?
i need to be able to compare data from a text file with the collection of a combo box.My algorithm currently populates the combo box with data from the text file on the form load event.I have included an update button that updates the combo box collection.[code]
I have 5 combo boxes that need to show the same list of items that come from a single dataset table. I have managed to bind the datatable to the combo boxes no problem at all.. but when I run the application and select an item from one of the combo boxes all the others change to the item I selected. After some research I believe that this problem is something to do with using the one datasource so I have tried assigning the dataset datatable to 2 different variables and used them as datasources for 2 of the comboboxes but the same still happens.
A work around to this I can see is to call the same methods and SQL select statements 5 times over to get individual datasources for each combo box but this doing that sounds crazy to me. how I can get around this easily? Code snippet below shows 2 combox boxes and their datasources. I'm using VS2005, .Net 2
