DB/Reporting :: Loading Is Due To SQL Server Itself
May 27, 2010
I have a vb.net program using the MS SQL 2005 Database.I use the SqlClient.SQLdataAdaptor to insert the records in DB.Whenever i load the program and then use the SqlClient.SQLdataAdaptor to insert record into DB for the 1st time, it will take longer time to load. But if I use the same SqlClient. SQLdataAdaptor to insert record into DB again immidately, it will take shorter time to load. However, if I wait for 5-10mins, then use the same SqlClient.SQLdataAdaptor to insert record into DB again, it will take longer time to load again. Can anyone tell me this loading is due to the SQL Server itself / the VB.net?Can anyone suggest me a way to check the reason of this loading? I'm writing a program in VB.Net and loading the info into a SQL database. Debugging it works fine on my machine that I am programming it on, it connects to the database and runs through all the info perfectly. However trying to get it to run on another machine it will not connect to the database. I realize the reason for this is the connection string, it's looking specifically at the file directory for the database. How do I change this so that it will function on any machine. The program is only intended to run on one machine at a time and not over the internet.

I'm new to VB, trying to learn how to connect to sql server. When running the code below I got this message from visual studio: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. I started coding my first "real" stand-alone desktop application in VB 2008 Express. I was led into believing that using SQL Express Compact Edition was the thing to use for my database since it would reside on each PC (laptops) that I installed the program on. I created all my tables and about 6 forms and all was going well until I came to the point where I need to display a grid showing data from multiple tables using what i think is supposed to be a view. Now the problem is that CE doesnt allow views. Here are my questions:
1. Can I convert my CE database file into an SQL Server Express file?
2. Do I have to re-write all my forms that are using the database? I am planning on creating my SQL Server Express database with the same table names and the same field names, data types, etc.

I'm trying to write code to create a new database and then create tables within the database.
I'm running into a strange problem right now, which is the fact that I was able to create a new database ok on either the regular SQL Server instance, or the SQLEXPRESS instance. However, when I attempted to create a table, I got an error message saying that there is already a table of the same name.
When I tried to connect to the new database via SQL Server Management Studio, I could see the database. However, there are no tables in it! So, theoretically, I'm creating a brand new blank DB, so there should not be anything in this DB, right? and I should be able to create any tables I want in it!
Here is the code that I have so far:
[code...]
I just have one simple form with a button on it. The click event on this button calls the CreateAllDBs() routine.

I have been having trouble finding a good way to do this. Basically what I need to do is take a query from a SQL Server Database and place it into a DataTable (or an array) for manipulation. I've got the connection and everything working, but none of the methods I've tried so far seem to work very well.I need it to compare data with an uploaded CSV file and post on a website.

Assume a .NET class library code that, for example, writes to the Windows registry. Then this code has problem to run over internet, because default Internet policy does not give access to write to the registry.By adding a RequestMinimum statement in the assembly we can specify that the code requires permission to write to write to the registry. This will not alter the fact that the code does not have the permission, but will stop the assembly from loading; the runtime will throw a System.Security.Policy.PolicyException and identify the permission that is required.Do you now any other examples of using evidence, security policy and permissions (the key elements of code-access security) to prevent an assembly from loading on a web server?

I'm able to save and load to file by using a filestream and textrange but I'm having trouble figuring out how (and finding online samples) of how to go to and from a db. I'm at an absolute loss here, I've read so many different things.I just want to add new records to a database I created using SQL Server 2008 with SQL statements in Visual Basic Express 2008. But I can't even connect/get it to recognise the database I created.The database name is 'database.mdf' and is situated in the MSSQL/DATA folder. So far I've read I need to use this code;
Code:

I have developed a Windows Forms application using VB.NET and MS SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. My database name is 'AC'. I do not want ANY user, SQL Server or Windows authenticated, to access, read, write to, update, drop or take backups of this database, except this login 'Adel'. So my connection string looks very similar to:[code]What configurations should I make in the MS SQL Server Management Studio 2005 Express Edition to 'Adel' login, 'AC' database, and all other logins to accomplish this?Given the following:I do not own the server; my client owns the server. They have a domain set up (LAN network). They have ASP.NET applications running using other databases on the same server. However, these applications have nothing to do with my database 'AC' or login 'Adel'.Some of their applications do not specify 'User Id' in the connection string; they use 'Integrated Security=True'.

I have just installed VB.NET 2003 and I am trying to manage some databases using SQL Server 2005 Express. When I try accessing the database via the data connection tab, I get the following message.
Quote: You have connected to a version of SQL Server later than SQL Server 2000. The version of Visual Studio or Access that you are using was released before the version of SQL Server to which you are connected. For this reason, you might encounter problems.
Please check with Microsoft to see if there is a service pack that you should apply to Visual Studio or Office in order to get support for the version of SQL Server to which you are connected. You can continue but any new object types might not be enumerated, and it will not be possible to save any objects or database diagrams that you create using the Visual Database Tools.I can not add tables or manage data fields. Does anyone know how to get the patch referred to in the message above? I can not find it via google or this forum.

We are planning on creating reports to be run on the same computer that the database application is running on. which of these is the best approach? (SQL Server Reporting Services or creating a rdlc ReportViewer report) Also I tried to locate detailed rdlc ReportViewer report tutorials both in books and online and found none. It's probably because I'm looking in the wrong places.

I wrote a program in VB2005. It is a program that is supposed to run in a client computer accessing an MS Access .mdb file stored in the server. The program itself is stored and run in the clients computer. I am not good in networking at all. The way I do it now is:
1. Have a directory made in the server to hold the MS Access .mdb file, and have the directory to be shared.
2. Have the same directory accessed and mapped in the client computer (say to Z:)
3. Then have the program in the client computer simply access the database as if it is in the same computer (as the directory already mapped into the client computer). In the VB 2005, this is done when we set the connection string of the database connection.
However, my user is complaining that by doing so, the database is basically exposed to the operator of the client computer (through the mapped directory), hence more vunerable for any bad intentions from persons who may have access to the client computer but not the server. He insists that he used to have a program that does exactly the same thing like my program, but the database is shielded in the server, where it cannot be seen in the client computer (I have other people who confirm that this can be done, though they can't tell me how, since they are not programmers themselves). Now, I have no idea on how to connect a database that way, and I don't even know where to start looking.
