I was wondering if there was a way to find out how much memory a data structure too up. So say I declared a list of strings.
Dim theRN As New Dictionary(Of String, Integer)
Say it had 25 elements in it. How to find out how much memory those 25 elements are costing me?
What is the best way to get a structure from memory, I know the format:
[Code]...
The structure is 53 bytes until the chat text, the message length is determined by one of the structure variables LineLength, so what is the best way to get that and put into into a structure?
where to find sample system with complete flow, database structure and data flow.. just for reference purpose.. system like inventory, payroll, accounting, billing and etc..
In a windows forms application I am attempting to read a file from a share into a filestream.I then start impersonating and write the stream to another share that only my impersonation account has access to.This works fine for small files. But if I attempt this on a 90 meg file I recieve a "Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service" error on the following line:
In a DataGridview i want to show nearly 50,00,000 records. After data binding to the datagridview, I want to change some Values in some columns in each row. So, while Looping after some time i am getting the "System.Out of Memory error". How can i display data without getting this error. Is there any easy way to display large data in a datagridview.
I'm getting a collection of processes, adding them to a ListView, and deleting them from it when needed. All of this is done in a timer. The problem, is that after a while, the app freezes. I think this is because I'm not disposing any variables.
Here's my VB.NET Private _processes As New List(Of String)() Dim killedProcs As New List(Of String)(_processes) Dim processes As Process() = System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcesses() For Each proc As Process In processes [Code] .... I tried disposing of my process list, but the IDE wouldn't let me. That's the only thing I thought would need disposing since it is what hold all of the processes.
I need to generate a class at runtime similar to System.Resources where you can add a resource eg 'picture.bmp' and it immediatelly is accessible as 'System.Resources.picture.bmp'. I presume I need to generate XLM or/and XLSD at design time and then deserialise at runtime but I cant find a reference on how to do this. Specially without knowing the generic class in advance (as 'System.Resources' doesnt know all the resources in advance).
I tried to experiment with the ability of .NET to support unions using the code below, but it causes a System. ExecutionengineException in .NET 2.0 and FatalExecutionEngineError in .NET 4.0 with the message:
The runtime has encountered a fatal error. The address of the error was at 0x738b3138, on thread 0x1080. The error code is 0xc0000005. This error may be a bug in the CLR or in the unsafe or non-verifiable portions of user code. Common sources of this bug include user marshaling errors for COM-interop or PInvoke, which may corrupt the stack.I agree that this code should not work, but I didn't expect this kind of exception. Is this a .NET bug?
Class POLine Public price As Decimal Public VendorItem As String[code].....
I've spent a substantial amount of time trying to figure this out, but I keep getting the same error
A first chance exception of type 'System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException' occurred in System.Data.dll A first chance exception of type 'System.NullReferenceException' occurred in project1.exe
This happens when I try to use the DataReader.my code is
Public Function Identification() As List(Of Integer) Dim returnIndex As New List(Of Integer) Dim dbCount As String = "SELECT Bookingid FROM bookdetail WHERE Date =" & getCurrentTimeString() & " 12:00:00 a.m." Dim count As Integer = 0

i am trying to add a mpg file to resources. at the time of compiling it throws following exception.the size of file is 200mb. [code]how is it possible to add a large size file to exe resources?
i am trying to connect to an MS Access database and I am getting an erro message on the following line of
searchtable_command = New SqlClient.SqlCommand(searchtable_string, testsearch_connection) Error:'System.Data.Odbc.OdbcConnection' cannot be converted to 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection'.
Here my connection string:
Dim testsearch_connection As New Odbc.OdbcConnection("Provider=MSDASQL;Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};Dbq=C:CesarAccessdatabase.mdb;Uid=admin;Pwd=;")
When we use system.io.ReadLines the content of the file should not be loaded to memory right? say I want to create a function. The function accept a string, say "post.txt" where post.txt is a large file (3G) I want to put the first 100k line of post.txt on post.txt and the rest on reserve_post.txt
In VB.NET I would like to create a complicated data structure with multiple types of data stored in an array like format (see below). I am trying to create a data structure that would look something like this: [Name; xLoc; yLoc; zLoc; [Jagged Array]] Note: Name needs to be dimensioned as a string, xLoc and so forth as integers. The Jagged Array would look like this:
I have a function that accepts a string and generates an email attachment based on that string. It works fine for html pages, text documents, and so forth but I can not get it to generate a PDF file.
Code:
Public Sub SendMail _ ( _ ByVal strFrom As String _ [code]......
If I save the file attachment as Whatever.PDF i get the error that it was not encoded properly.I am using datadynamics active reports PDF exporter to generate the PDF
dim pdf as new datadynamics.activereports.export.pdf.pdfexport sendmail("from@", "to@", "test", "test", pdf.tostring, "pdf.pdf")
I think the problem is I am converting the PDF to a string, and then trying to convert it back to a PDF and attach it to the email but I am not 100% sure.
I am using .net 2.0 and I am getting an exception of system is out of memory. My existing function takes datatable as input parameter which contains little bit large data (eg. more than 35000 rows) and in that function I am appending some xml node data and atlast I am returning the stringbuilder as a object.
I receive random AccessViolationException on client machines. I have captured the exception text and have pasted it below. Unfortunately this error is not happening on code that I have written it appears to be happening when the .NET is trying to draw a group box on the form. System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.at System.Drawing.SafeNativeMethods.Gdip.GdipDrawLineI(HandleRef graphics, HandleRef pen, Int32 x1, Int32 y1, Int32 x2, Int32 y2)at System.Drawing.Graphics.DrawLine(Pen pen, Int32 x1, Int32 y1, Int32 x2, Int32 y2)
I am using a VB script in SSIS Script Task to add header and Trailer to a flat file. The code was working fine until recently i came across a problem where the rows in the file are more than usual and resulting in a failure on script task with error`Error:
System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.OutOfMemoryException: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.
Do While rdr2.Read() Dim var1 As String = rdr2.Item("Week").ToString Dim var2 As String = rdr2.Item("L1").ToString Dim var3 As String = rdr2.Item("L2").ToString
It generates the following error: A first chance exception of type 'System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeException' occurred in System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll
Interestingly, if I use a numeric value for the variable it for LSArraytemp, it writes to the database no problem at all.
My colleague gave me a DLL that manage all database business. I wanted to invoke a function that uses Stored Procedure and return the search result. In the function receive a parameter type in ystem.Data.IDataParameter[]. Below is my codes.
I added this lines in the form load of DataGridPrinter by Merrion in the codebank..[code]Unable to cast object of type 'System.Data.DataViewManager' to type 'System.Data.DataTable'.
I have a list of a few thousand names. I actually have last name, first name, phone number, etc and more info. I'm going to make a class to contain the data. so I'll have like a people object with for example a last name field. I'm going to store these in like an array list. Lets say i have 100 items in array list. Maybe last name smith is on index 3 21 and 63. I'd like a data structure where i can easily search for smith and get indexes 3 21 and 63. Brute force is simply loop through complete array checking last name and grabbing index each time i find smith. Ideally id like to have more efficiency. In c++ I'd use a multi map but i don't see that that exists in vb.net. A dictionary wont work because its 1:1.Name of data structure, short description of how to use it and web help reference page would be nice.
Does anyone know why on earth in my linq to sql designer classes, that I am getting type not exist for any system, system.data, system.data.linq nameapces?I am trying to convert a website to a web application and this has me stumped. In order to create an object I have to use the Global. prefix on all the namespaces.
