I'm using VB.Net.'m using DataGridView with ColumnType = DataGridViewTextBoxColumn.
I have 3 columns. Column1, Column2, Column3. for example:
Column1 Column2 Column3
1 AA AAA
2 BB EDIT
3 CC CCC
If column3's value = "EDIT", then I need to edit only that cell. Here for example: i need to make the Column3's second cell to be readonly=false. So i cannot make any changes to (1, AA, AAA), (3, CC, CCC) and (2, BB). Need to make changes only EDIT cell.I tried this code. CountR is the row in which EDIT values is there.
I'm sitting in a VB-project and i have a ListView with 3 cells; a checkbox, a name and another text value. I want the last cell to be editable for the user. The second cell is also okay to have editable, no problems at all.
How can i set cells to be editable?
...
Any tips how to let the user change the last (or both second and last) cell?

I need to display an two-column editable grid not bound to a database. I took a look at ListView with Mode=Details, but it appears that only cells in the first column can be edited. I then took a look at DataGridView, and am having two issues:
1. When editing a cell, it adds a new row: How can I prevent this?
2. I don't like the grey background and would like the grid to fill the whole space, right and below.
BTW, if you know of a good tutorial on using the DataGridView unbound, I'm interested.
I am using a DevExpress (10.2) Treelist in my VB.Net project in Visual Studio 2008. I currently have a treelist with TreeList.OptionsBehavior.Editable = True. I have two columns were the first one is AllowEdit = False. The second column I am setting the AllowEdit and ReadOnly dynamically though the action FocusedNodeChanged.

I have an editable DataGrid in a VB WPF application. The DataGrid itself has its SourceUpdated property set to my event handler. 2 of the columns in the grid are editable and have their NotifyOnSourceUpdated flag in the Binding set to True. The event is firing properly, but I can't seem to figure out the best way to determine what has changed. The 2 columns depend on each other in that one of them is an item quantity and the other is a case quantity. If the user changes one of them I want to re-compute the other value and update the grid as well as the binding source. I'm sure there are a number of ways to handle this, but I'm curious what is the best way. I could listen for change event on the datagrid, see what changed, set some variables, and then use those in the SourceUpdated event, but that doesn't seem elegant.View 1 Replies View Related

I have an editable datagridview that's been databound with dataadapter and datatable, and a normal button on a form. When i edit the dgv's cells and click the save button it fires the datagridview_cellvalidating event and if the cell validation is correct it updates and saves the current record to the datasource. Also, before save it commits change in any cell under editing. But when I use a toolstripbutton to do the same work, though it saves the dgv records but doesn't update the current change i.e. it saves the old records that are being fetched when the dgv was populated first during form load. Also, clicking the toolstripbutton doesn't fire datagridview_cellvalidating, datagridview_rowvalidating etc events.
What it seems to be is it's not commiting the change in any cell under
I have a number of lines of text on an .aspx page that I want a user to be able to edit, I am not storing this text/information anywhere in the database. I just want it to be information that is displayed to the user but can be editable, so the user can view the text and if there is a mistake or want to make a change they can do this by editing it.
I have seen that if you display data in a label and put a textbox beside it then, the textbox can move into the place of the label - I have done this for other text on the page however that method would not fit for this purpose because I require this edit of text to be for a number of lines.
I am following this tutorial to make a repeater control: I have successfully gotten as far as the tutorial, but I would like to make it editable. How could I get started?View 1 Replies View Related
All I want to do is build some kind of table-like or grid-like control in my form that has two columns. An element in the first column should be a checkbox that is changable by the user, and an element in the second column is some un-editable text. Of course, when the user checks or unchecks a checkbox, I have to be able to handle that event and figure out which row it came from.I've been trying this all day with no luck. Do I use a ListView or a DataGridView? If the answer is DataGridView, do I add columns and rows to it directly or do I try to make a DataTable which I then assign to the DataGridView's "DataSource" property? Is is possible to make editable checkboxes in a DataTable? I succeeded in making checkboxes by making a DataColumn of type boolean, but then I couldn't check or uncheck them during runtime.
but then I couldn't figure out how to add rows. The examples online all assume that there is only string data in each row. Also there is apparently a type called DataGridBoolColumn? What is that all about? My point is there are a lot of different objects out there with similar sounding names
i have a given table structure with some data inside. Here is the database model: Database Model..In the TBL_SCENARIO Table a user can store an unlimited number of scenarios. In the TBL_EVENTS can each scenario have an unlimited number of so called Events like risks. The TBL_EVENT_DATA Table stores now for each day and for each event in a scenario the value min and max.I would like to edit a scenario with its events (! not an single) in a GridView Control. Is this possible? I would like to have the rows as days and the columns (2columns for one event) as min max value for the events. So is it possibel, when i have 5 events, have these in 10 columns (2 columns for each event [min] and [max] and then the days as rows?View 4 Replies View Related

I do have a form with a ToolStrip and some other controls on it. I use this form in other projects as kind of base form, which means that the other forms inherit from this form.
My problem: In the designer I can not change any properties (property window is read-only) of the Toostrip or add new buttons on it. All changes I have to do must be done in code instead of using the designer. ToolStrip-modifier property is set to Public.
I have a base form class that is providing a new property that looks Like this
Public Class BaseForm
Private _HappyTime As Boolean
Public Property HappyTime() As Boolean
Now when I inherit the BaseForm on a new form, the HappyTime property displays in the properties window as false, and is uneditable.
I've recreated this BaseForm and Inheriting Form in an entirely new soloution and, the HappyTime property is editable and works as expected. For some reason in the existing project (where these changes need to be made) it's not behaving properly.

I'm trying to localize a big application I'm doing by my side. In order to do this, I would need some external translators to get the text (in an xml or the like) and make the appropriate translations to several languages. All the localizations in the application have been done using the localization options of the IDE, so whenever I build the application, I get the compiled resources.dll file of the given languages, but I see no way to get a not-compiled XML version of it, to be passed to the translators, so they can do their job and I can compile it later.View 7 Replies View Related

I need a control that will allow me to do a few things.
The control should be similar to Listview in detail mode, in that it lets me show numerous rows, each row with multiple columns. However, I want it editable in place... that is, the user can (if I let him) click on a column and change what is stored there.
The next thing I need to do is set a graphic in one column, text in another, a playback controller in a third, and a trackbar control in the fourth. Every row will look like that.
The final thing I need to do is be able to control how a row is painted... either the entire line or by putting a graphic image (like a button) in a column when it is not being edited.
Barring all of that, I can put all the controls I need into a single user control, then I need some listview-like control that will allow me to add that control to it.. and have it be operational.

I am using VS2008, I need to update a vb6 application that I wrote a while back and make it more user friendly. [EDIT] I am not using any of the vb6 code, this is a complete rewrite.[/EDIT] The application basically creates ZPL based on user inputs, it sends the ZPL to the printer via the parallel port and we have our label. I know there are pre-written pieces of software that do this but I have a few other things going on that are not an option for a pre-written label application.
The task at hand at this point is creating a form which will display a mock-up of the label and allow the user to create text, rotate it, move it, re-size it etc. I will also have to add in image support a little further down the line but I figured i would keep it simple to start out. This is my first major project in .net (the company has been hesitant to spend the money until now and I haven't had the time to do much on my own.)
I think the best place for me to start would be with a simple form with a button that allows me to create text and edit it only. I am unsure of the best way to pull this off, should I be using a label, a text box with the design styles turned off or something altogether different that I may not know about?
a) What type of object should I be using?
b) How would I go about creating it?
c) How should I go about making it movable/editable at runtime?
As an aside, I am aware that the ThermalLabel SDK would probably be beneficial in this application but the company is not willing to spend anymore on this project.

In Page1 RMNNo will be generated automatically and it will ask the user to enter the number of items in Page2. So in next form, all the item details i want to enter. But i cant display the second screen multiple times, I decided to create a table at run time, the number of rows will change depending on the number of items entered by the user. But in the table we may have to get some of the values from the database and display as a combo box so that the user can select from the list. So i decided to use the editable data grid.
I want to create a VB program for my final year project, the contents of which can be editable by the user, for example when new information becomes availabe it can be easily added. Now,I thought that this could be done using the text box, although it doesn't seem to be possible.
I plan to use a database to hold the initial information.Could I achieve program 'updatability' in a fairly easy manner?
I have a spreadsheet in excel with three headers:
Project Name The name of a project i'm working on.
Requested Role The job title/profession of the project employee. (example: mechanic, manager, engineer)
The name of the employee. When i click on the Person's name i want another page or tab (specific to this person) to appear showing details about them such as their name, job title, how long they worked, what project they are doing... etc. (similar to a Facebook profile)
When i click on the project name i want another page or tab (specific to this project) to appear showing details about it such as the requirements, the deadline, who is currently working on it... etc.
Furthermore, i would like to set up two levels of access:For the specific pages i was thinking of using the tab control but i want it so that i can search through the list of projects or names, select one, and then it brings up the page about it.The levels of access is the least of my worries.
I have a ComboBox that is databound to an ObservableCollection of strings. The ComboBox is also editable, so you can either enter in your own value or select one from the list. The issue I'm running into is the index of SelectedItem seems to be the index of the last item you selected when you've entered in your own value in the ComboBox, though it's -1 when you have IsTextSearchEnabled set to true. The problem is, if someone entered their own value and then decide to instead select the item on the ComboBox that had been selected before, the index doesn't change so the SelectionChange event doesn't fire. How could I get an event to fire in this situation?View 1 Replies View Related
