Mar 18, 2009I'm creating a PDF file on the fly using ITextSharp and ASP.NET 1.1. My process is as follows -
Create file on server Redirect browser to newly created PDF file so it is displayed to user
What I'd like to do is delete the PDF from the server as soon it is displayed in the users browser. The PDF file is large so it is not an option to hold it in memory, an initial write to the server is required. I'm currently using a solution that periodically polls for files then deletes them, but I'd prefer a solution that deletes the file immediately after it has been downloaded to the client machine. Is there a way to do this?

Jul 31, 2008On a form I have a DataGridView. Inside this DataGridView i have several columns of which one is combobox and the others are textboxes.The combobox column is populated with values from a MySql database table using a query. So far so good. What i want next is to populate a certain textbox from that DataGridView, automatically after a value from the combobox is selected. When a value is selected from the dropdown list of the combobox, that value is used in a SQL query to find the value that will be displayed in the textbox.All the textboxes and the combobox are inside the DataGridView!)I did this using DataGridView EditingControlShowing event because a DataGridViewComboBoxCell does not have aSelectedIndexChanged event.The value is displayed correctly in the textbox, but the problem is that the value selected from the combobox disappears after the selection, and the combobox remains empty. I need the value to remain in the combobox after it was selected and after the corresponding value was inserted in the textbox!Here is the code for this:

Dec 15, 2011I'm writing a program for my job in which we are keeping track of employees usage of food at work. The form in question interacts with an access database to a binded control with labels and textboxes. This form I'm working on is the user view which doesn't allow them to input their username, I have the user name saved to a variable but it will not display when I the add a new record. I tried many things but I'm just getting frustrated.
Is there away to add data to a row that is not displayed on the screen in a textbox for the user to see? There are 3 different "cells" (textboxes) I want to be filled in by other code without the users knowledge.
I'm currently using MSAccess 2010 and Visual Studio.net 2010

Feb 21, 2012I'm having a problem with my software.
This is are the parts of my system where my problem occurs:
- Search Button
- List Box1
- TotalTextbox
- Button
- SQL Database with a Column named "Amount" and it only contains numbers Datatype is System.String
So, basically a user clicks the Search button and searches for a data in the SQL Database, and the result of the search displays in different Listboxes including the "Amount" Column from the database, which has it's own Listbox named "Listbox1". the Listbox is now filled with numbers.
Goal: The goal is to get the Sum of all the "Numbers" Displayed in the Listbox1, and the Total is then Displayed into a Textbox via using Click event or automatically.
The Code:

And i got this Error: Conversion from type 'DataRowView' to type 'Double' is not valid.
I ended up with this..

sum += Val(ListBox1.Items.Item(x).ToString)
Next
TotalTextBox.Text = sum.ToString
But the values are not adding up, the total is always at 0. i've been searching for hours now from the net to a better way of doing this.
Here's a quick Flow on what im trying to accomplish here. Record from Database -----Displays on---> Listbox1 -----User Clicks--> Button1 ----Displays Total sum on----> Textbox1

I have a DataGridView bound to a DataTable which has an Int16 DataColumn. The DGV has a DataGridViewComboBoxColumn tied to the DataColumn.
I enter integer values in the Items section of the DGVCBColumn properties. When I run the program I get "DataGridViewComboBoxCell value is not valid".
I assume this is because my Items are text and the data column is integer so I created a List of Integer, added my integer values/choices to the list and made the List my data source for the ComboBox column. Same error.
I then created another DT in the DS with one column type Int16, added my integer choices to the DT, created a BS for the ChoicesDT and set this BS as the DataSource, the column as the DisplayMember and the ValueMember. Same error.
There are no issues like this when the DataColumn is bound to a ComboBox outside of the DGV so I assume there is some issue with the DGV understanding the underlying binding.

Here's the code I have so far. "addlInfoParentCat" identifies the first column, and currentRow.Cells.Item(1) is the DataGridViewComboBoxCell that I want to re-populate. ExtEventAdditionalInfoType is a type I defined that contains the string/value pairs.

Nov 18, 2009I want to have a DataGridView that has two columns.The first column will always be of type DataGridViewComboBoxColumn. Based on the selection in that column, I'd like to be able to change the corresponding cell in the second column to either a DataGridViewComboBoxCell or a DataGridViewTextBoxCell.I'm thinking I just need to make the second column of type DataGridViewColumn, but don't understand the mechanics of how to change the cell type on the fly.I'm working with VB.NET in Visual Studio 2005.
Update: One way around it, I suppose, is to make the second column as a DataGridViewComboBoxColumn, and change the attributes of the cell so that it either behaves like a drop-down list, or as an (editable) drop-down with no elements. The latter looks enough like a text box that I could live with it, and it wouldn't involve changing the type of the cell.

However, it will not update until I go to another textbox or press a button or other similar control.This also happens when using the LOST FOCUS event.How can I make the textbox update (be it doing a financial recalculation or some other custom function) happen when the user clicks/tabs out of the textbox and NOT having to click on a button or into another textbox?Do you recommend having a separate button for performing the custom functions?
