Aug 5, 2009I'm making a program that I need to put a button in that when you click it it sends the writing in form1's textbox1 one to the email you type in dialog1's textbox1.
Basically I have a textbox and button on Form1 that when you press it opens dialogbox1. In dialogbox1 there is a textbox and a send button. I need to make it so when you press send it sends an email to the email adress you type in the textbox and the body of the email is whats in textbox1 of form1.

Feb 21, 2012I'm having a problem with my software.
This is are the parts of my system where my problem occurs:
- Search Button
- List Box1
- TotalTextbox
- Button
- SQL Database with a Column named "Amount" and it only contains numbers Datatype is System.String
So, basically a user clicks the Search button and searches for a data in the SQL Database, and the result of the search displays in different Listboxes including the "Amount" Column from the database, which has it's own Listbox named "Listbox1". the Listbox is now filled with numbers.
Goal: The goal is to get the Sum of all the "Numbers" Displayed in the Listbox1, and the Total is then Displayed into a Textbox via using Click event or automatically.
The Code:

sum += CDbl(ListBox1.Items(x))
Next
TotalTextBox.Text = sum.ToString
And i got this Error: Conversion from type 'DataRowView' to type 'Double' is not valid.
I ended up with this..

For x As Integer = 0 To ListBox1.Items.Count - 1
sum += Val(ListBox1.Items.Item(x).ToString)
Next
TotalTextBox.Text = sum.ToString
But the values are not adding up, the total is always at 0. i've been searching for hours now from the net to a better way of doing this.
Here's a quick Flow on what im trying to accomplish here. Record from Database -----Displays on---> Listbox1 -----User Clicks--> Button1 ----Displays Total sum on----> Textbox1

Dec 22, 2010Do the VScrollBar and HScrollBar controls have a known Value bug?I'm using VB10. While testing some code I used a Horizontal Scroll Bar to change a value on the fly, I thought my code had some bad math in it until I discovered that when the bar is scrolled to the very far right the Value was not equal to its Maximum value setting like it is in VB6, the same happens for the Vertical scroll bar control, set the maximum to 100 the Value will only go up to 91, set max to 200 and value only goes to 191, etc.

Jul 15, 2010My HScrollbar will only go to 9 less than the specified Maximum value. I want it to go from 0 to255. When I set the Maximum value to 255 and run the program the slider indicates 246 when full right. I can get it to go to 255 by setting the Maximum value to 264 but this seems very wrong.

May 11, 2009I am using a DateTimePicker to allow the user to select dates between which, info from a database is selected and displayed in a DataGridView.This works fine exept that the dates selected by the DateTimePicker seem to bring back results in US date format!
If I do a debug.print (DateTime1.text), the date is in UK format i.e 11/05/2009 but when these variables are used in a Select statement, the dates returned seem to be in US format e.g. selecting dates between 01/04/2009 and 7/05/2009 selects dates between 04/01/2009 and 05/07/2009 when the results are displayed in the DataGridView!

Database Records Being Displayed When Trying To Insert New
Jul 6, 2010I'm in the process of making 2 database applications. Each are encountering their own set of errors. For this particular application, I have a "Main Menu" form that has a button which loads an "Add Record" form. The user is suppose to be able to insert new records here via text boxes, but the problem is that record with the first primary key is being displayed in the text boxes when the "Add Record" form loads. I have no idea and can't find anything anywhere about making these boxes blank. I'm connecting to the .accdb through a dataset.

Jan 14, 2010I have successfully ported a VB6 application to VB.NET (VS2008, .NET 2.0). Much optimization and rewriting has been done, but there is one possible BUG i cannot overcome. I have a standard HSCROLLBAR control used for accepting a numeric input. The control needs to be disabled during complex computational routines to prevent additional user input. I am setting the enabled property to false and reenabling the control at the end of the calculation cycle. The control is enabled and disabled a few times, because some code has been placed in the onpaint event of a drawing area, and separating the calculation part from the drawing part will be a huge task.
Large changes are handled correctly. Small changes aren't. The problem is that the control freezes in a unknown state after clicking on the arrows. A second click makes the control (and its parent control box) jump up and over everything else in their container.The scrollbar remains functional only via the contextual menu. This happens both in debug and release builds. There are no overrides. Coding/Test platform XP SP3 (more than 1 machine).
There is no code whatsoever that handles neither the parent control nor the scrollbar repositioning and resizing. The only code takes the value of the scrollbar and passes to the calculation section. If I omit disabling and reenabling the control, everything works fine.i tried rebuilding the control from scratch. forcing enabling the control after it has gone haywire does not make changes, disabling the groupbox instead of the single control doesn't make any difference, debugging step by step confirms that things go wrong when drawing the controls within the private system form classes.

Dec 15, 2011I'm writing a program for my job in which we are keeping track of employees usage of food at work. The form in question interacts with an access database to a binded control with labels and textboxes. This form I'm working on is the user view which doesn't allow them to input their username, I have the user name saved to a variable but it will not display when I the add a new record. I tried many things but I'm just getting frustrated.
Is there away to add data to a row that is not displayed on the screen in a textbox for the user to see? There are 3 different "cells" (textboxes) I want to be filled in by other code without the users knowledge.
I'm currently using MSAccess 2010 and Visual Studio.net 2010

Jan 8, 2010I have an app that has been localized in the usual fashion (i.e., .resx files), which handles about 95% of the strings. However, I still need to localize some strings for category names that are stored in the database. I'd like to avoid adding 15 new columns named categoryname_ES, categoryname_FR, etc, and then pulling the right column dynamically. If there would be some way to pull the data, and then do a substitution in the code, I think that would be a little less messy. Maybe along the lines of:
go through gridview row by row if the language selected isn't English, look for this text value in a global resources file and replace it. Or is adding a lot of categoryname columns for each language just the way to go (ewww).

The query is getting information from two seperate tables,so I can't just bind a table to the control and then filter what is displayed using SQL.
