DateTimePicker: Selecting A Range Of Hours Within A Single Day Only?
Dec 30, 2008
I'm looking for a way to use two DateTimePicker controls to select a range of hours and minutes within one day. That is, to basically select a 'starting time' and 'ending time'.I started with two DateTimePicker controls with the custom format of h:mm tt. I tried adding (on ValueChanged), a check that made the selected 'starting time' will become the 'ending times' minimum and vice versa, the 'ending time' becoming the 'starting times' maximum?
However, that approach didn't seem to work -- I was still able to select 11.00 AM on the 'ending time' and 1.00 PM on the 'starting time'. I have a feeling that the current day of the timestamp has something to do with it (e.g. the starting time is of the previous day, and therefore is less).I thought about changing to a combo box of preset half hour intervals throughout the day; however the minutes need to be more flexible than that... This is the code I ended up with for reference;
Private Sub DateTimePicker1_ValueChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles DateTimePicker1.ValueChanged

Is there a way to tab between the hours and minutes values when the format is set to time in the DateTime Picker? The default action is move to the next control. I have the ShowUpDown set to true. Do I have to set up separate controls, one for the hours and one for the minutes to get this functionality?
I'm tring to create chart from Column B (to be X axis), and column D (Y axis).when I set it as range: .range("B":"D") - it'll take also column C.How can I set range for chart to be column B and D only??
I have the following code to select records from an access table based on a date range. The user is required to select a week ending date (Saturday) from a datetimepicker field. The date field in access is formatted as short. The values in the database range from 12/04/2009 to 2/05/2009. When I select datetimepicker as 2/05/2009 (i.e. 2 May 2008), no rows are returned. Following is the resultant sql statement:
show: Select * FROM Work_Time WHERE WorkerID =1001 AND (WeekDate >=#26/04/2009# AND WeekDate <=#2/05/2009#)
However, if I select datetimepicker as 25/04/2009, the correct numbers of rows are returned. Following is the resultant sql statement:
show: Select * FROM Work_Time WHERE WorkerID =1001 AND (WeekDate >=#19/04/2009# AND WeekDate <=#25/04/2009#)
Private Sub btnGetTSData_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnGetTSData.Click Dim dSelect As Date dSelect = dtWkEnding.Value
I am trying to get back a single from from a EF database model using the below line of code..
Dim _classRoom As classrm = db.classrms.Select(Function(b) b.Course_ID = _CurrCourse.course_ref)
Where classrm is the name of the entity and db is declared as a new entity. What I am trying to do is select a row from the entity based on matching Course_ID which in this model is a string. So that I can later use the variable _classRoom to get other items out of the same row.. However I am getting the following error:
Unable to cast object of type 'System.Data.Objects.ObjectQuery`1[System.Boolean]' to type 'Trial_Online.classrm'.
I have to preform similar tasks with several different Entities but if I get pointed in the right direction I can manage from there...

I am selecting two table schema in a single adapter.
da=new sqldataadapter("select * from emp;select * from emp1",con); da.fillschema(ds,Schematype.mapped);
then i am inserting some rows manually on both tables.i want to update the dataset. so that each data table in the datast will be updated in database.how to do this? since i am facing problem that it is updating all the rows in single table.
I have a datagridview with data in it, i have set it so you can only select the row and one at a time. However, i need to get the data from one of the cells in the selected row, i have tried this
i am trying to make a vb.net project for a travel agency ..... i have make all of the content of it but i got stuck in listbox .... i have added onnfiled of sql table into the listbox and now i want that when i select the list box content then all the other fields of a the row will automatically come in the rest of the textbox so i can add and delete it manually....... here is my code..... of one form(i have made 13 forms like that)
I am using a Strongly Typed Dataset as DAL. I want to return a single column from my table for that i wrote the code as
SELECT DISTINCT Floor FROM Room WHERE (Building = @Building)
But when i previewed the data, it shows me all the columns of the table with Null Value and the column with primary key has -1 value. This condition raise an Exception when i link this query to a ComboBox ..
I am using the following code in the Load method of a VB form to generate random numbers in the range 1 to 8. Without fail after enough loops the range is exceeded and 9 is the random number returned every time. The line using the Rnd function is from: Rnd Function (Visual Basic)
I am getting the error:"Range variable 'sender' hides a variable in an enclosing block or a range variable previously defined in the query expression."for this
Imports System.Data.SqlClient Imports System.Linq Public Class Form1
[code]....
I can select any other item from the table without the error. "sender" has the same properties as "receiver" in the SQL table.
Say I have a code with 3 methods that do some pretty intensive work. Would executing these methods on 3 seperate threads be faster then executing them one after the other on a single core cpu? And what if it's a dual core or HT?
I am trying to make a list, separated by a comma, of entries from a single column in a SQL database. I have been spending the last several days searching for a way to do this, but every thing I found either didn't work, or wasn't exactly what I was looking for.
The query will pull all the email address that are not null. What I need to know is how to take the result of that query and make it look like this:
I use SqlParameters when executing database statements. I know that I can replace a single quote with two single quotes... but in the past SqlParameters took care of this for me. I have two projects.. in one, the SqlParameter does this and it handles single quotes fine, in another, it does not and I'm at a loss why (I even copied and pasted the code):
I am trying to update a row or a single cell in ms access through vb.net. But when i update the text box named NRIC, say for example i want to update "s4522147B" to "tr4521856C" and mean while leaving the other fields the same.
But the thing is when i make the changes in nric.text (textbox), the dataset actually updates the whole column in the table instead of the selected textbox.
I have DGV like parent form and detail form like child. I want to give ability to user enter time in detail form in format like HHH:mm, save that value in database and display it in DGV.How to format timepicker or maybe need to use other control to have ability enter time data in format like HHH:mm?
I am writing a system that utilizes the Timer to execute a command after an interval of three seconds. The command is to send a trigger to my RFID reader and hence the program will then decode the received data and changed it to information. It runs fine for the first few hours, but it will crash after that and the error given is an "System.NullReferenceExeption - Object reference not set to an instance of an object." error. Initially, i thought that it might be something that relates to my comobobox selected index change event that might be causing the crashes, but yet the application is crashes after i removed the section.
I fail to find the reason of the crash, even after spend fewing days finding the memory leak or some other events that might cause the crash.
I have insert TRY CATCH METHOD, just to catch the exeption error message that might cause by one of the codes, but still it doesnt show me.
I have 2 applications, 1 that goes out and grabs data every minute and inserts or updates that data depending on a time interval into sql tables, the other 1 goes out at the top of every hour and grabs hourly data. Both of these applications run perfectly fine when they are compiled and published to run on my development PC, both do xml validation and check for duplicate data prior to any sql insert so I know it's not getting SQL exceptions.
When I move them to the Production Server the 1 minute application will work for a few hours and then freeze up and stop working. The hourly application half the time won't work at all.
I've made sure to include a local copy of the references when I compile/build and publish the application. I've made sure the Production Server is up to date with the latest .Net framework.
I would like to calculate the difference between hours and minutes from one textbox and the hours and minutes from textbox two. What would be the best way to do this? I think DateTime would be the object to use, but wondered if anyone has any examples or better ways?
