Up until now i've had a function that that returns Foo as Object (I'm trying to make the serialize / deserialize process general so I can just copy and paste and avoid explicitly setting each variable)
I'm trying to extend my new WPF Touch Screen Keyboard (DLL) Library, to allow the user to get events from the Touch Screen Object. I'd like to be able to tell the Programmer what Object made the call (or executed the subroutine) that raised the event. Not dissimilar to the Sender as Object event parameters one gets when working with a System Object. Which begs the question, How do I get that information, if I don't ask for it?Is there a way to get this information from some call made in the subroutine about to raise the event?

I'm trying to XML-serialize a class the properties of which I use to format a document.Basically, it is a class for the document's header and another class for its rows. url...In this class diagram, the class I want to serialize is ExcelPrintCorte that inherits its methods from ExcelCabec and has a private member ExcelPrintDocumento (and a public method to get it).My purpose is to XML-serialize ExcelPrintCorte and save the inherited properties' values and also the properties' values of ExcelPrintDocumento. I have a class called Truck and a form called frmTruck I have some code like this in a method. It recieves obj as Truck

During the LoadTruckFromDatabase function I call the SerializeTruck method, here everything goes fine. But when I call the SerializeTruck just before End sub of DoSomething, it goes wrong I get an exception saying that frmTruck is not serializable My truckinstance doesn't have any references to frmTruck...
I am trying to serialize object in method binary mode. However, I would like to get a file in human-unreadable format. which means i want to encrypt file. In my memory, if i want to write text into binary file in C, when I set writing mode as binary, I will get a file in human-unreadable format, but in .net, I can't get that.

I am somewhat new to object oriented programming and am attempting to flatten a Linq object hierarchy by using a shim class.how to initalize a derived class with property values from a base class?I have two objects, a base object with about 100 properties, and a derived object which inherits from the base object and adds a few additional properties beyond those of the base object. My simple constructor creates the derived object, but I am looking for a way to initialize the derived object properties with values from the base object.Right now I am using reflection to iterate over the properties individually and I suspect there may be a better way. The following example shows my shim class constructor for the derived class, and two properties:
newProperty1 - a new string property of the derived class
flattenedProperty2 - a new string property of the derived class, copied from a 2nd-level object of the base class

Is this the correct constructor approach to flatten the object hierarchy using a shim class? My second question relates to initialization of properties in the derived class. So basically I have a ComboBox on a form, which I populated by adding custom object named "Category" and by setting the DisplayMember to the property "Name" of my object.On another form that can be opened at the same time, I can edit the name of theses "Category" objects. I raise an Event, "NameChanged" but how can I catch it on the form which contains the ComboBox? Even if the property "Name" of the object "Category" change, the display on the ComboBox doesn't autoupdate. So I need to catch the event, but I don't know how to do it.

Well the title pretty well describes my problem. Here is a little bit more detailed description of my problem: I am building an application with a TabControl, which I populate at execution time with TabPages. In my first version of the code, these TabPages were filled with a children ListView. The ListView was also created in code, using AddHandlers to link it to the DragEnter and DragDrop routines. Everything worked very well... Now as I need some other controls on every TabPage, instead of creating every single control in code, I have created a UserControl containing a ListView and a few Buttons, which I instantiate for every new TabPage. The problem now is that the DragDrop event is not raised anymore

So if I create an object test, and it has a property color. When I add this object to an array list I typically can access this using myarray(0).color but intellisense doesn't 'know' that I have a 'test' object inside the array. It would let me type myarray(0).whatever but would then crash if I made typo. It seems like I should be able to let it know what type of object I am trying to work with inside the arraylist.
