Decimal To Binary Using Colour Boxes?

I'm doing a uni assignment regarding changing decimals to binary. However this assingment seems to be different to most of its kind from what I can see.Our assignment asks us to have a text box in which we'll enter the decimal, then we'll use a menuscript to and highlight the button 'dec-to-bin' which will then change the colour of 8 image boxes (located in a row above the text box) from black to red based on whether the binary is '1' (Red) or '0' (Black) for that bit.I've struggling to find a starting point as I need to ensure I link the text boxes to the outcome of the decimal and binary but not sure how.

i tick a check box in my datagridview, the cell in column 3 of the same row will change colour? this needs to apply to all check boxes and corresponding cells.

I was wondering whether it's possible to change the highlight colour for a combo box without having to create a custom control? Just to try and make what I'm asking clearer, it's not the ForeColour or the BackColour that I'm wanting to change but the colour that's shown by the mouse when you move it over the combo box items.

I write a program to convert Decimal numbers to Binary numbers. It is working well. But I want to control the bits. i.e - We can write 31 as a) 11111 or b) 011111. When I run my program it displays 11111. I want to take input bit from a text box and display it like 0011111 or 011111 or what ever bit I input. How can I do that ?

I have a decimal I want to be able to display as a binary or a hex. I keep seeing code that says Convert.ToString(decimal, 2) to display as binary string, but in 3.5 that is invalid.
Is there no built in formating for binary in 3.5?

I have figured out how to make a function to convert binary number to decimal number [code]With this code,a user can enter a number that isn't binary,and program will calculate it. I realize the code listed below, whose serial port using string formatting which I inherited is complicated. To .NET after getting tired of using VB6 due to the lack of functionality. I'm trying to create a log on method for a system which will involve users selecting a colour from a paint panel and then placing/drawing the colour in 1 or more tiles of a grid, basically a 3x3 grid in which for example they selected the blue colour and drew in the top left tile and the bottom left tile. The logon is selecting the correct colour and placing the colour in the appropriate tile. What i want them to be able to do is place even a single pixel of colour so it has a high accuracy. So far i have a timer which loops from the width of the grid to the height of the grid.

To start with i have just hard coded the colour i want it to detect. At present it produces an error. Parameter must be positive and < Width the error is on System.Drawing.Point(i,j). If i place the mouse over the colour then run the program it will say it has been found, but otherwise it wont find the colour. I believe i am not updating the location of the pixel or something to that effect.
