View 6 RepliesI am trying to deploy an application that uses SMO on a workstation without SQL Server installed on it. The instance the app is connecting to is SQL Server 2008. The application is failing with:Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication, Version 10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=89845cdc8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.
The assembly in question is in the same path as my application as well as system32. I am running this on a Windows 7 64 bit box. I have run SQL Native Client, CLR, and SMO MSIs from the 2008 SMO redist download page. This app worked fine when connecting to SQL Server 2005.
My problem is, when deploy vb.net 2005 with crystal report on Windows Server R2 2008, the report can't load it show blank. i'm using AxCRViewer91 component.

i am having a big probLem about my Win-base appLication, i am trying to pubLish my project / make it an ".exe = executable" file, it is connected to an ACCESS DATABASE. The problem is that, after getting my application to a ".exe" form, it seems that the application recognize stiLL the original database, where is my path --> OleDb.OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.ACE.oled b.12.0;Data source=C:Usersx3r0Desktopvb_skuLprog_sad_3_te stproducts.accdb") <-- of the originaL database, when i try to input at the ".exe" file, the data are going to the originaL database, and when i tried to change the path, coz i am thinking of using another database, error says cannot find "C:Usersx3r0Desktopvb_skuLprog_sad_3_testpro ducts.accdb"... before changing the databse, ofcourse i have changed that path already for my new database, but it shows an error for the database its using before..

View 1 RepliesI have developed a windows application which performs a series of database operations like select, insert, update. I am connecting to Oracle database and its working fine in development system. But, when I deployed this application, I am getting error at StartConnection (which opens the DB connection). After installing OracleClient in client system, its working fine. Now, my question is that do I need to install OracleClient to every user? If so, it will be hectic to do so as its size is around 200 MB and its not possible to ask all the users to install it just for a small application. I have tried adding some OracleClient files like orannzbb11.dll, oraciei11.dll, iraops11w.dll etc. But in vain! Could anyone please suggest me a work-around or a way to accomplish this?
View 1 RepliesI am designing a desktop application that will be driven by local data. I am trying to determine the best way to accomplish this. The database would contain about 10-12 tables if I use a database and I would imagine no more than 10000 records in any one table (but honestly 99% of users would not have more than 1000 records). I am thinking about using SQL Server Compact.
Is this a good solution? I can certainly include this in my installation, but I am just wondering if anyone knows of a better solution? If this is the best solution, how would you suggest that I create the tables upon deployment? Should I just run "queries" with create table statements in them from my vb application or include a database file or what?
I am trying to deploy a VB2010 programme that uses the 2010 Access Database Engine. The programme falls over when starting, with an error trying to access the Database. If I Install the programme on a machine that has Office 2003 installed - still installing the 2010 Database Engine - then it runs OK.Does the Database Engine work?

Welcome to the All-In-One Code Framework! If you have any feedback,
why is "sql server express" a prerequisite when i deploy my application? is it because i am using the "oledb" class? im using it to connect to a ms access database...could i be using any other class that would not require "sql server" to be a prereq? what about the "ado" class?
View 4 RepliesQuestion: I created an ASP.NET web application. Now it originally was meant for deployment on a webserver. That is working, so, so far so good.My question now is: Is it possible to deploy it as a desktop-application, too? That is to say the installer installs some kind of server, plus the web application, configures the server to run this application on a localhost URL, and then creates a link in the start menu/desktop, where it opens that url (website, the application) on localhost in a web browser?
I think it should be possible, though the server wouldn't be IIS, because this is a windows component which can't be separately installed. Is there anything like this already out there The nonplusultra would be that it only starts the server when you click on the shortcut.
I have created my site using ASP.NET Personal Starter Kits 3.5. I use Visual Studio 2008 only . .with its built-in SQL Server (2005 Express) ... my database in App_Data is ASPNETDB.MDF ...I have created some of my tables also ....in ASPNETDB ..In my local PC the site was running fine ...But when I publish my site on production server it doesn't work and shows the following error

I have developed a VB.NET program using a strongly typed dataset. This dataset has its connection to a SQL Server 2008 R2. The software should now be additionally used offline. The database should be exported to a *.sdf database. If no connection to the SQL server is produced, the software have to try to connect to the *.sdf database.I would like to achieve:
1. Export the data in the SQL Server 2008 R2 database to a local *.sdf file.
2. This *.sdf file has to work as an alternate connection string in the strongly typed dataset.
How can I write a connection string? I has four different computer that can be connect via ethernet. How can I maintain a inserting data if to computer insert on same table at a single time..??

View 1 RepliesI recently upgraded the MS SQL Server installed on my personal computer from 2005 Express to 2008 Express. Problem is when I try to add an SQL database file to a project using VS 2005 I get an error message saying that the version of my database server is not supported, I must have SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 or later installed. I didn't do it yet but I'm pretty sure that when I open the other projects that I included a database file to it, I'm going to get the same error.
My question is it possible to have two SQL Servers installed on my machine? If so, is it a good idea to have two DB servers in the same machine?

before re-inventing the wheel, i want to ask you how i can do this best: I have a VB.Net application that uses a database connection to MS SQL Server 2005 (express version). There are users that input data with the application into the database lets say once to 2x an hour to once a minute. I want to do backups like this: Once a day or once a week (in the evening) a full backup, and whenever the program/user is idle for lets say 10 Minutes, i want to do an incremental backup (so that it does not take so long until he can work on after the backup).
There are no big security issues, just copying the backup data files to a network share / a different computer or server would be fine. i guess the average db size may be 300MB, but the daily increments about 1MB.
