I have created a windows application which Installs Multiple MSI's based on some condition. The project is created in Visual Studio 2008 with .Net framework 3.5; If this application runs in a machine which has atleast Dot Net 2.0 installs, it works fine. but the system without framework 2.0 throws an error "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135)"
How can I stop my application from crashing. I tried giving a check in the Main(), but it is not even firing the Main(); Is there any way I can give a prerequisite, But not in the Publish, Coz i am using the output exe and not the clickonce output..

I have a VB.Net project that I am running from a local server and I need to use the credentials the user is currently logged in with to upload a file to a folder I create on a SharePoint site on the same domain. I can get it to upload if I specify the credentials but it will not work with system.net.credentialcache.defaultcredentials. It just gives me 3 empty strings and I get a 401 unauthorized error. I have seen a few threads that say you cannot use it with Windows Forms Applications. Is this true? Here is my code:

I am creating a program that interacts with another program and I would like to "inject" my program into this program as an MDI Child window. Is this even possible, and if so can it be done in VB.NET? What kind of pitfalls are associated with doing this?

FormA calls DialogB where user cancels DialogB which exits via ForceTermination(), see insert.Caller FormA check for DialogResult not = OK, which it isn't, and I can see this in debug as Abort(3).However, the code continues merrily along its way until I get a 'null reference' error which I'm trying to avoid via Force Termination().This is caused by the user cancelling DialogB, a selection process to get a database (SQL) instance.[code]

I am developing a Windows Forms application. I have four forms which is inherited from Baseform in another project. In all four forms I am using a label to show some transaction count based on network status. I have implemented a thread which gets the active form of application and setting up the text. The code works fine if application screen is active. If I minimize and open any other application, I am getting an null error exception.
How do I get the active form of an application?
Private Sub StartThread()
pollThread =New Thread(AddressOf PollfileStatus)
pollThread.IsBackground =True
running =True
pollThread.Start()

I have just begun using Visual Studio to create a windows form application in visual basic. I have a chart on the form, and I would like to be able to right-click, copy the chart and then paste in,say, Microsoft word. At the moment I have created a contextmenustrip which appears when the user clicks on the chart, but I am unsure of the code necessary to actually copy the chart and hold it until pasted into a different application.

Well it's been two weeks since I've been trying to figure out how to convert a windows form application into asp.net web application but I guess it is not possible. So I want to try something else, embedding the windows form on my webpage.
Anyway, I design a windows form application in Visual Basic Express Edition and I want to embed onto my webpage whcih I designed in Dreamweaver. Does anyone know if it is possible to embed a windows form application in a web page that will run in a web browsers? Or where I can find some references, couldn't find in google searches?
Something similar to using javascript to embed objects on a web page.

What is the proper way to terminate a Windows Form application while it is just executing in the MyApplication_Startup routine?I have an application that looks for a database file upon startup. If it does not find it I prompt the user and ask if they wish to locate the file or not. If they choose not to locate the file I want to just terminate the application. Currently i just execute the "End" statement, but that does not seem like the proper way to terminate a program.

I downloaded Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition last night (the total download took about 3 hurs, but I digress). I started duing the little "Learn Visual Basic" tutorials. I've gotten to "Communicating with Your Program's User: The User Interface" and it asks me to open up a new project. Alright, fine, nothing I haven't done yet. But the problem is that it wants me to open the new project up in Windows Form Application.

The software I design is for Win XP and older versions such as Win 98, ME, 2000 etc. I currently use VB6 and Win XP for development and packaging, the problem I encounter is that if I use the deployment wizard in XP, the setup will only work on an XP machine and I need to copy all my source to an older machine and use the wizard again to create another setup file which will only work on the older operating systems. Is there a way to rectify this in VB6? If not, does the new VB account for this and be able to make a setup file for older operating systems as well as XP?

I have been building a Web Application (ASP.NET, .NET Framework 4, VB, visual studio 2010). To be very brief the application interacts with a database and performs several actions (Insert Delete Select etc..).I am using several Gridviews, ListBoxes etc and I am not happy with the presentation outcome and the functionality provided by asp.net. In simple words my application looks bad, outdated and unprofessional.I figured that using Windows Forms that will be incorporated to the ASP ap.I have created a Windows Form Control Library to use the dll created in my app as a user control. I found out that this is not supported in .NET Framework 4 (is this true? or am i doing something wrong?). Is there any way to make my application have the 'look and feel' of a windows application? Please note that it is has to be a web app and the clients should not have to download any other application to interact with the server.
