I found a app that did it for me a long time ago, but cant seem to find it now. But I would like to try my hand at my own, and I've managed to do so, but, my app has to be in focus for it to work. is there any way to still detect when these media keys are pressed while my app is out of focus?

Sep 14, 2009I'm writing a small application to detect the insertion of USB memory sticks and prompt the user to accept the device or reject it. Rejecting it would prevent its being loaded by Windows. I have the code that detects insertion & removal working fine but have no idea how to cancel the insertion.I was thinking that I could intercept the DEVICEARRIVAL message and kill it off before its actioned by Windows but I am lost with this.code to show the way.Heres the main part of the code I have so far-

How To Detect USB Flash Drive
Feb 27, 2007I am making a program that will allow a user to use any USB flash drive as a key, that when inserted, will automatically (upon validation, of course) enter login and password data into web forms, applications, and maybe even Windows Logon. But first things first: how to I detect when a USB key is inserted into the drive, for instance, perhaps just detect the last/latest inserted drive?
In addition, does anyone know if there is a way to directly identify a flash drive, maybe based on a serial number?, rather than validating it from a file on the device?

Mar 27, 2010I use the media player tool in my program and just found out that some people get a serious exception on the loading of the program if they choose not to enable media player. How can I make it so that if they don't have media player enabled that the program won't crash?
I don't know where the designer puts the info to load certain controls, nor do I know how to make the program skip loading a control if it doesn't work.

My idea is to get all the currently opened files, and then filter the Extensions from these and find the media item that is currently playing, and get the filepath.Does anyone know how i can do this? and what methods or classes or Librarys i should be looking at or importing In..

My problem is that I want to know if an instance of my application is already running and, in that case, I want to jump directly to that instance, without starting another one.
