Disable Validation Controls In A User Control When Rendered Into A Page?
Dec 13, 2011
I am trying to delete a customer record. In the page I have an usercontrol for address and it has some validation. I cannot delete the record since it fires the validation controls.
I am trying to figure out if the text from a website is visible when the page is rendered in a webbrowser control. The text I am looking for is error text that shows form field errors after a bad post submission. I've checked the source code of the html being returned and the actual html for the text i'm looking for is present before any errors are made, and after the errors are detected. is there any way i can do a sort of .visible check on html elements in a webbrowser object, or even check the css that is linked to a particular div/label/span for the visibility/display style tags?
My asp.net page has multiple text-boxes and DropDownLists that all have required-field validators.
My site also has multiple pages that you can move between with the click of a button. (All pages have all the buttons) When a page loads and decide I want to go to a different page without entering information into the form, I click a button to move to a separate page and the validation pops up and I can't change the page, it stops me every time?
Is there an easy way to disable all form validation when the user clicks on the "X" icon to close an application or when the user clicks on a button in the application that closes the application?[url]...
I am using a masterpage. On a accounts page I have a Usercontrol on this UserControl I have one more user control. If Account is closed I want to Disable all the controls on Accounts page (including parent and child userControl - controls collection).
In my asp.net projects there is a master page and there is a control on Contentplaceholder1. Changing this control's id after rendered like "ctl00_Contentplaceholder1_control" in my local. But at the server its changing like "Contentplaceholder1_control". When i used documents.getelelentbyid('ctl00_Contentplaceholder1_control') js function, its working on my local but not working at the server. So why disappearing "ctl00_" when app runs at the server?
Edit:Why doesn't the server side control id contains "ctl00_" after rendered?
I have an aspx page that has two different user controls. I want to find user control A and be able to set properties, etc., from user control B.
I was thinking I could do something like this:
Dim CMFilters As Control = Me.Parent.FindControl("CMFilters")
...but that doesnt work to be able to set properties and call methods. I somehow need to get the user control and and declare it as that user control type.
What is the best method to do data validation? I want to do data validation when the user exits a control so that he gets immediate feedback. I can use the Validating event or the Leave event for that. The problem is, that if the user doesn't know the right answer, and just wants to click the cancel button and leave the form completely, it won't let him. It continues to give him an error message until he completely deletes his answer. Very frustrating. Does anyone have a good method for doing this?
I have a user control that checks if a certain query string and session value are present then returns a boolean based on that, if it's true I want to set the master page. The page is throwing an Object reference exception when it tries to call the method EditUser1.UserAuthorization(). Why is this happening? I imagine that the method doesn't exist at that point in the stack. Protected Sub Page_PreInit(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.PreInit
I want to access a page variable from a user control placed on that page. All the solutions work in C# via casting to the page class. The problem is that this doesn't work in VB. The page class is not selectable from the Intellisense dialog. Manual typing results in the error type not defined. It is strange that C# can do this without a problem. What is the proper solution for this in VB? I had other cases where I needed to access a control on the main page. C# again uses a cast to the page class to access the control. This doesn't work in VB again. So how can I access the page class from a user control in generell?
1. Is there any way to disable refreshing in such a way that the button can still be used for stuff like flash on the page still? All my methods have blocked using the button in the flash which is loaded on the page....
2. Is there any way to get the new scrollbars of IE10 or metro style scrollbar or what not into the webbrowser like the desktop version of IE10 does in Windows 8 Consumer Preview?
3. Is there any way to allow the close window called from javascript to be detected & actually close the window in my program?
4. Is there any way to make it so when new window is called it will open a new window with my application in a new instance? stopping me now is it seems to want to open in the same window if I use the event NewWindow to cancel the event from happening but it gets script errors....is there any way to retrieve the link to what it needs to open so I can handle this properly? Or at least tell it what else to use? besides the default browser....I want it to open inside my own program & not IE.
i have a windows from project and in that project i created a user control lets call itcustombutton1 now i can use that control quite easily either at design time or runtime by creating a new instance of it like
I have an asp.net usercontrol which represents a "popup" dialog. Basically, it's a wrapper for the jQuery UI dialog which can be subclassed to easily make dialogs. As part of this control, I need to inject a div into the page the control is used on, either at the very top or very bottom of the form so that when the popup is instantiated, it's parent is changed to this div. This allows "nested" popups without the child popup being trapped inside the parent popup.
The trouble is, I can't find a safe way to inject this div into the page. A usercontrol doesn't have a preinit event, so I can't do it there, and calling Page.Form.Controls.Add(...) in Init, Load or PreRender causes the standard exception "The control collection cannot be modified during DataBind, Init, Load, PreRender or Unload phases."
I thought I had found a solution by using. ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock(Page, Me.GetType, UniqueID + "_Dialog_Div", containerDiv, False) which seemed to work well normally, but recently a coworker tried putting an UpdatePanel inside the dialog and now she's getting the error "The script tag registered for type 'ASP.controls_order_viewzips_ascx' and key 'ctl00$ContentBody$OViewZips_Dialog_Div' has invalid characters outside of the script tags: . Only properly formatted script tags can be registered."
How are you supposed to add controls to the pages control collection from inside a user control?
I have a usercontrol that contains a datagridview and a toolstrip. When creating a windows form that contains 2 of the mentioned usercontrol i gate for example c1 and c2 where both contains for sure the datagridview and the toolstrip hving the same control name for example G and t. in my case i want to apply the security on each form, i do this by reading the access of each control inside the windows form and if the control on the form was a user control then i dont consider it as one entity instead but as a grid alone and a toolstrip alone in order to be able to apply its security accordingly. but in ma case, if i want to disable the first grid and enable the 2nd i wont be able to do so since both grids have the same name. is there any solution for the above.
First off I'm using the Extended Webbrowser control from: [URL]
I use the Webbrowser control to access an ESRI web based mapping solution. When the ESRI map is loaded into an IE browser and the browser is resized then the map control resizing accordingly. When my Webbrowser control is resized the map webpage is not resizing properly.
I don't even know where to start with this problem. Is there some event that's not firing in the website? I can't simply refresh the whole website because the user may have panned and zoomed around. I want to just tell the website that the container control (Webbrowser control) is resizing now.
I have a user control in which there are some controls. Now when I bind the usercontrol to db and show it in a panel (dock fill) it shows some odd behaviour like contols are painting one by one and this is looking odd.Can anyone please tell me how to fix these type of issues.
I have a couple user controls that are loaded by a Select Case statement. However, in the behind code file for the main page that loads these controls, none of the asp controls show up in intellisense. I had a feeling it's because the controls are loaded conditionally. My question is what is the best way to solve this?
1) Load the controls and do a Select Case in the behind code to make them hidden or not.
2) Is there a way to say (psuedocode): LoadUserControl("UserControl1").Controls("tbTest").Text = ""
3) How can I pass a dataset to the User Control file?
In my asp.net 4.0 application I have a standard set of tabs controls across the application that has one tab for Search, one for View and one for Reporting.I am in the process of updating those tabs and I was hoping to be able to wrap their functionality up into a single user control since they all function in pretty much similar ways. The issue I am having is how to create a property called SeacrhTab/ViewTab/ReportTab that allows me to assign a different user control to it depending on the area of the application (e.g. CompanySearchControl, ContactSearchControl, etc.) Anyone ever tried to accomplish something similar?
I have a base page class that inherits from Page. We'll call it SpiffyPage. I also have a user control called SpiffyControl. I then have an aspx page, ViewSpiffyStuff.aspx, that inherits from SpiffyPage. On page load, the SpiffyPage class is supposed to inject a SpiffyControl into the aspx page. The problem is that SpiffyControl is a user control, and to instantiate that in the code behind one has to access the ASP namespace, sort of like: ASP.controls_spiffycontrol_aspx MyControl;
But SpiffyPage isn't an aspx page, it's just a base page, and as such I can't access the ASP namespace, and I therefore can't instantiate a SpiffyControl in order to inject it. How can I achieve my goal?
Edit: One important point is that I must have a reference to the actual control type so I can assign values to certain custom Properties. That's why a function like LoadControl, which returns type Control, won't work in this case.
I have an aspx page with three web controls: one to control the List Users page, one to control the Edit Users page, and one to control the Add User page. I have discovered a method for accessing these elements, but it seems to be limited. Here is what I have done:
Protected Sub editUser(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewEditEventArgs) 'set selected user from gridview.
[Code].....
This works in most cases. However, I am unable to access the "enabled" attribute of these web controls. Why is this, and how might I access that attribute?
I have an asp.net website that is using update panels on the page that i cant get to reload from the server. I have this for the disable page cache on the master page.
When I click the browser back button to go back to the page it says the page has expired. the other pages on my web site work and call the page load, the only solution i found but cant use is to wrp the whole page in an update panel, but i cant do this becuase i have a report viewer on the page that does not work with ajax.
I have created a website that works perfect on my machine but when I posted to the server every thing works but the create user and Login. I know when you run it on your machine it saves users at the Web Site Administration Tool. What do I need to do to make it work on the server.
I am trying to figure out how to declaratively pass in a event handler into a user control, but I am stumped. All I can make work is the user control's event handler.. I can't seem to bubble up the caught event into the parent page. Ideas would be quite welcome. Here is my code:Default.aspx:
<%@ Page Language="VB" %> <%@ Register TagPrefix="rpt" TagName="filter" Src="WebUserControl.ascx" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
I have done this the other way many times as it makes sense (the page knows about the control as it has been added to the page and can handle the 'child' event)
Is it possible to do it the other way? I think not as the control doesn't know what page it is going to be on
The reason i ask this is that I have a modal popup on the page to ask users to login, and it is only when the user has logged in that I want my user control to go away and execute some code but I am not too sure how to tell the control this has happend?
