Nov 13, 2009In my application I'm exporting an Excel file by getting the layout of a HTML page. So, in my codebehind, I'm modifying the HTML layout and inserting itens on it like if it was a webpage. Doing it that way, I don't need to use any external library and, as the data I'm exporting is just a table, I don't need nothing complex to handle it. My question is: there is a way to create an AutoFilter by just modifying the HTML tags? I mean, like if a put a < b>Column Name in the HTML, when exporting to Excel it will become Bold, it is possible to do the same thing with the AutoFilter?

May 20, 2010I have some update panels on my page that do some asyncpostbacks to keep some dropdownlists correctly populated. My problem is that on my page i have an HTML input that is handling some file uploads. With the AJAX on the page with asyncpostbacks, and while i step through my code behind, the files arent being uploaded. Using a postbacktrigger (non-async) is not possible because of my layout.
Here is my code:

When I put a breakpoint in at the declaration of service and then check the value of "files", the count is 0. I am expecting it to be 2 when i have one file uploaded.

Feb 17, 2009I am trying to figure out if the text from a website is visible when the page is rendered in a webbrowser control. The text I am looking for is error text that shows form field errors after a bad post submission. I've checked the source code of the html being returned and the actual html for the text i'm looking for is present before any errors are made, and after the errors are detected. is there any way i can do a sort of .visible check on html elements in a webbrowser object, or even check the css that is linked to a particular div/label/span for the visibility/display style tags?

C# - Exporting HTML To Excel Without Losing Formatting?
Feb 9, 2010I have a asp.net page that generates a report. For better or for worse, the entire thing is generated using nested tables. I am able to export the page to excel, however I lose all my formatting (can't set column widths, etc). Is there a way to handle this? I'm open to adding any goofy MS Office -specific tags that are required to the html side of it.If this isn't feasible and if anyone has any other ideas, the requirement is that users need a report that:
a) They can manually touch up with some personalization / area-specific data
b) Needs to be hide/show columns based on user's location
c) Needs to run from the web site.

Jun 6, 2011I have a working code that exports the datagrid into XLS. However, the datagrid results does not show on my aspx (html) page. It only shows on the page when I comment out the part that exports it to xls. I am not sure whether it should show by default when exporting.Basically, what I want to have is when I click my export button, it should display the datagrid on the page as well as popup an excel "open, save, cancel" window for the export.

Mar 28, 2012I have developed a WinForm Application with VB.Net (VS2010) having Office 2010 Professional Installed, and it is 64-bit Windows 7 Platform. The program opens a .doc and .rtf format document, and attempts to save it in htm format. I am using following commands:

All goes fine with development and running on development PC, but when I publish it for offline installation, and deploy it on Client PC having Windows XP with Office 2007, it gives error on oDoc.SaveAs2 line, and program crashes.
Insert New Page With Formatting And Bookmarks Into A Word Document Using VB Word
Jul 13, 2009I have document, with numerous pages, that will populate at key locations using a UserForm and bookmarks. One of the pages in the document may need to be repeated. In other words, one of the pages may need to be populated more than once (and inserted successively in the document).
The troublesome page has bookmarks that will need to be repopulated with different information for every new instance within that same document.
I am considering making a table with the verbage in the "Troublesome Document" located in a Table. When I need to repopulate a new instance of that page, I think I should:
1. populate the document
2. copy and paste the wording in a new page
3. insert the new page (without bookmarks yet maintaining formatting) before the "Trouble Document"
4. repeat steps 1-3 for every necessary instance
5. delete the "Trouble Document" with the Table

I would like to do this without the use of a "software printer" (such as CutePDF, etc.) and stick to reference assemblies if at all possible. I'm using Microsoft Office Interop Assemblies to generate a Word Document which I save to a temporary directory. So its not necessary for this solution to interact directly with Microsoft Office, unless it needs to.

Jan 25, 2011I have a problem which I have not been able to find an answer to in months. I store word doc resumes as varbinary(max). I can retrieve the resumes based on a full-text search no problem. But the resumes are retrieved as word documents in a .ashx file with the following code. I really need to implement hit highlighting on the site so that users can see if the returned resume is a good fit or not.
I don't think this can be done from an .ashx file, so I think I need to be able to open the resume as html in an aspx page and maybe use javascript to do the hit highlighting or perhaps return the text only content of the word document somehow and manipulate the text before display with html tags.

I've had a quick look around the net and tried adding an Object Reference to Microsoft Word Object X.0 Library to my Project. So that I could play around with things, but immediately It was telling me the following weren't defined.

Mail-merge HTML From A Database Into MS Word?
Oct 2, 2010I am using this editor for the users to enter their text in the database interface environment that will both load/save/show them what they are working on in the form and also mail-merge into a Word document waiting for the content. I can do the first step and it works well, but how do I get MS Word to recognize HTML as formatting instead of just merging in tags and text all as text?
The tool has two relevant properties: one to get just the text (no markup, i.e. no HTML) and one to get the full markup with HTML. Both of these are in text format (which I use for easy storage in the Database).
ideas/directions I can think of:
1) use the clipboard. I can copy/paste the content straight from the editor window to Word and it works great! But loading from a database is significantly different, even when using the clipboard programatically. (maybe I don't understand how to use the clipboard tools)
2) maybe there is a library or class/function in Word that can understand the HTML as "mergable" content?
