Colour Text Depending On Type?
Feb 18, 2010I am trying to make the application similar to Notepad++. Notepad++ colours text depending on what type they are, eg. HTML, PHP, CSS, Java, ect.
I just wondered if somebody might be able to help with this? I have no clue where to start, but I have an idea of how it would happen.
- Text is entered into the RTB (RichTextBox)
- The text is read by the program as it's entered
- The text is coloured depending on the type
Opening Different Forms Depending On Account Type?
Apr 13, 2012I've just finished creating a basic login system which enables you to create an account and select either a "Student" or "Teacher" account.
Once the account is created it's stored in an Access 2007 database. The field the account type gets stored in is called AccountType. When users log in with their unique username and password I want the program to take them to a different form depending on whether they have a student or teacher account.

Sep 24, 2010I am building a 'shape editor' which looks very similar to the Visual Studio form designer. I have a Toolbox control that holds a few 'Shapes' (such as RectangleShape, EllipseShape, TriangleShape, etc) which the user should be able to drag to the design view ("Canvas") in any MDI form. The Toolbox control is just a TreeView except that I add ToolboxItems to it (which are inherited TreeNodes). This dragging however does not seem to work...

Jun 18, 2010My program populates a drop-down menu with items dynamically at runtime. The items listed are the currently running windows and applications seen in the Windows taskbar. I was wondering if there was a way to retrieve the text of a selected menu item during runtime and use it to set focus to that application or window (which is the text of the selected menu item). I have looked at using the AppActive function to achieve this. I just don't know how to retrieve the text of the dynamically created menu items. Please keep in mind that I am an amateur coder so my code might look stupid. I have tried the following code block with no success:

Invisible Text In Combo Drop Down?
Nov 29, 2005I have a problem with Combo Boxes. When one uses the mouse to open the drop down menu, the text appears to be missing, but when you click on a entry, the text appears in the box at the top of the combo box (the thumb?). Likewise, when the cursor keys are used to scroll through the options, the text appears in the thumb.

Nov 1, 2009I'm doing drag and drop from a list view. In my starting list view's ItemDrag event handler, I say (amomgst other things):

sender.DoDragDrop(data, DragDropEffects.Copy Or DragDropEffects.Move)
CurrentFolder being a string that holds the name of the folder represented by the list view. In the target control's DragDrop event handler, CType(e.Data, DataObject).GetText evaluates to what CurrentFolder was when ItemDrag was executed.But: e.Data.GetDataPresent(TextDataFormat.Text) always evaluates to FALSE.If I replace "TextDataFormat.Text" by "DataFormats.Text" (in both places) the result is the same. I am asking this although my code does what I want, because I feel that I should not call CType(e.Data, DataObject).GetText before I have established that TextData is actually present. So how do I properly check for the presence of the text data.

I have a combo box in VB ExpEd2010 that I want to allow the user to only select from the drop down list. However, I want to be able to set the value in the combo box to something that is not in the list. Nov 1, 2010I'm currently building an intranet engine for a project I've got on the go at the moment,and I'd like to save myself a little time by generating header images from code where possible, however, I'd like it to match our concept image.What I'd like to achieve is below:My issue is I've not the faintest how to create that from code. I can do the absolute basics but that's about it.I start to fall down when it comes to the gradient background and the drop shadow on the text. I can get away with positioning the text on the larger header image, so if it's not possible to generate the exact gradient I have there, then I have a work around for that, but what I really want to achieve is the text with the font and drop shadow.

Right now I am telling it exactly which text boxes I want to be able to drag and drop to, but I was just told to have it drag and drop to every text box on the main form.The main form with the text boxes has a bunch of tabs on it that hold each section. Each section has text boxes, so how would I code it so they are all capable of allowing drag/drop without specifying each one separately?

Drag And Drop In VB 2008 - Mouse Button The Text Box Is Not Dropped
Sep 5, 2009I insert a text box into form1. I move the mouse pointer on top of the text box. I press down on the left mouse button and begin to drag the text box. The problem is when I let go of the mouse button the text box is not dropped. it remain floating around. My only way out of this is to press the escape key which places the text bnox bak to its original location. Thinking that it might be my mouse I tested it in Power point and everything works correctly.

The VB6 application works like a charm, even on Win 7 x64.Here is the relevant (I hope) VB6 code. It allows me to select text in IE8's browser window and then drag and drop it onto a TextBox called txtLink in a very simple VB6 application.
