Problem drawing dotted path lines, with even dots along the path line.I want to draw a path line that can be any shape (square, round, outline etc), and along this path line I want even dots to appear.
I also want to be able to resize the shape (as in the example attached)This is very easy to do using "DrawPath" and defining points for the path and using a pen defined as dots. The problem I have is I want the dots to be evenly placed along the path, on any shape or size I draw.In the example I have created, I create a square with 4 points and draw a dotted path. There are 2 buttons that allows me to resize the square (larger or smaller) this helps show the problem more clearly.
The path starts at the top left corner and finishes back at the top left corner, the dots are evenly placed along the path, except the final dots at the end of the path. (Sometimes the dots are even and other times they are not even). The shapes I want to draw can be any size and any shape, but I have used a square in this example to show the problem I have. point me in the direction I need to go that allows me to draw the dots and give the impression that they are even all along the path, for all shapes and sizes.
In the pictures below if you change the size of the shape, one will have even looking dots, the other will not.

Im trying to write to a file I created and place "Unregistered" in it. Thought it would be a simple task but keep getting an error. Its happening when I try and open the file to write. This is the error: Access to the path 'G:\Projects\Project\pbss\bin\Debug\5\pbssv\Data.DB' is denied.
Ive tried adding the file attributes to read-write and still get the same. Most of the code ive looked at via a google search points to the same as ive got for the Added default value area. Im not sure if there is a conflict between the 2 different ways im accessing the file when creating and writing too? [Code]
I am trying to create bitmap with my text and transformation. I am sure that there is no error in my code. Because this code is worked previously. Here is my code.

Ok, I want to create a class that will handle a special rectangle graphic. In my form, I want to have two of these special rectangles. So, basically, I need two instances of that class in my form, right?I manage to initialize two, alright. But, how exactly am I supposed tomanage drawing/graphics etc in a class, and the results to be displayed in my form?
View 13 RepliesUsing graphics paths for designing...but am getting an error when trying to add a shape to : _shapelist.add(createshape())
It says : Value of type 'system.drawing.drawing2d.graphicspath' cannot be converted to '1-dimensional array of system.drawing.drawing2d.graphicspath'
I'm making a custom class that mocks the System.Drawing.Rectangle class because the Rectangle class doesn't have a name property. I need a name property because I am adding all of my rectangles to a collection and I need a little more info stored than just their locale and size. So I changed the _onPaint event but nothing is working out when I run the program?

I am trying to create a function to convert a mapped drive path to a UNC path. I did some googling and found several different pages on the matter. I am most interested in the first one, but I cannot seem to get the code to cooperate. Since the original post was in C#, here is my VB.NET conversion:

how to list all the points in my graphics path and measure the distance between them, preferably in inches but pixels will suffice for now.
View 4 RepliesI have an application that makes a drawing with measurements both horisontal and vertical. I like to get the vertical measurements to be in direction down-up, not up-down direction as StringFormatFlags.DirectionVertical does. All the measuretexts are drawn to a graphics path. Because that path includes all measures at different locations I canīt TransformRotate that path, the text should be rotated before it is passed to the graphics path, or ? It would be so nice if it would be a StringFormatFlags.DirectionVerticalUp to handle it.

In the below code I load the image to the graphics path using resource image and adding text on it. When I add the image through open file dialog it paints on the form with original size but I need to resize it, add it to the PictureBox, add text to it and give zoom and pan options to it and then I need to save with the original size.
When I resize and when save the image I endi up with a small image.

Is there any way to have 2d graphics that gets made by user through manual dimensions input be bound to a text box?
Is there any way to take position 1000,600 and make that zero? Can we make graphics by inputting only the next co-ordinate and have the pc automatically draw a line from last point?
Also, whats the difference between drawline and draw path? How can I get the shape to remain on screen when I toggle between pages?
I have a graphics application that uses graphics paths. Code seen below. You can use keyboard characters to display information. When a label is set to visible = false after being turned on for a number of seconds a stray image is generated. The stray images are also sometimes generated when the label is first made visible.
' points p10b, p2b etc are defined elsewhere
Dim GrpPoints As PointF() = {p10b, p2b, p3b, p11b, p5b, p6b, p12b}
GrPath = New GraphicsPath ' 7 path points
GrPath.AddBeziers(GrpPoints)
[code]....
I tried stopping the code from running when the label is set to visible = false but the stray image is still generated but just later. If you want more information let me know. The white arrows points to the stray image that is created just after a label that displayed information was set to visible = false
when i try to write to a file I get the error:
Quote:
Access to the path "PATH HERE" is denied. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path "PATH HERE" is denied.
ASP.NET is not authorized to access the requested resource. Consider granting access rights to the resource to the ASP.NET request identity. ASP.NET has a base process identity (typically {MACHINE}ASPNET on IIS 5 or Network Service on IIS 6) that is used if the application is not impersonating. If the application is impersonating via <identity impersonate="true"/>, the identity will be the anonymous user (typically IUSR_MACHINENAME) or the authenticated request user. To grant ASP.NET write access to a file, right-click the file in Explorer, choose "Properties" and select the Security tab. Click "Add" to add the appropriate user or group. Highlight the ASP.NET account, and check the boxes for the desired access. But when I add: <identity impersonate="true"/ to web.config I get the following error when my application trys to open a DB to read it:
Quote:
Unspecified error
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException: Unspecified errorLine 55: objConnection.Open()
Is it possible to see the different colors (when using the graphics class) in a palette somewhere? It's hard to choose from the names only (DarkCyan, IndianRed ect, what is this!? )

View 5 RepliesI have an application which pulls xaml page paths from a database. I can then use a navigationservice to navigate to the relevant page when need be. However, I have run into a scenario where I would like to instantiate the page with a specific constructor before navigating to that page.
Is it possible to take a string value such as "PagesMyPage.xaml" at runtime and create an object MyPage? Obviously, I could do this with a switch statement on the page path, but I would like it to be a whole lot more dynamic than that.
I've been creating short test apps repeatedly to try to understand some of the concepts in VB.NET.For the most part it has been illuminating.I read Bucky's .NET knowlegebase tutorial on passing objects as parameters to newly created forms. He shows how to create a new class that inherits from the base form class and define a New() method with parameters Extending the concept I thought about doing the same thing with a form that was created at design-time (In this case Form2).

I want to read a number of items from a file and then associate each of those items with a new button at run-time, so that when the user clicks one of the buttons I can display some information about that item. Can I use a LIST to manage these buttons and items? Can I create a new class and have each list item of that class, such as 'btnID', 'btnText', etc... ?

I am trying to create a floorPlan in Vb.Net Graphics. I thought i could use say 20 pixels = 1 Linear Metre
I am currently using a Picturebox 504 * 504 Pixel. Taking a little for borders the 4 pixels off width height this gives me 500/20 = 25 Linear Metre square which is okay.
But when i draw guide ruler lines which updates the lenght of the line being drawn i cannot get it to increment per mm.
The ruler is calculated at = (pic1.Width - 4) / 20. On the mouseMove Event the measurement which i show as a string increments by 40mm or so i need it per mm.
I have the following [code]...
when i draw the rectangle, the moment the container refreshes itself i lose my shape or if i run the app in full screen and then into normal window mode the shape either gets clipped or deleted. I would like to create a grahpics container to always keep the shape 'alive'.
Is it possible to create a square using graphics that will not show in VB.NET? I want to use it for the IntersectsWith function to detect moving rectangles that are around objects.
View 1 RepliesI have found an example about how to create 2D Graphics in Visual Basic using DirectX here. I have created a new Windows Application, I have copied the code, but I get errors. The code seems to be OK, but the application refuses to start. I have the nVIDIA 7300LE Graphics Card and I'm using Windows Vista x64 with DirectX 10 and Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. I have also downloaded the DirectX Redistributable Package (March 2009) in order to make my application work...

View 6 Replies"Create a class called Invoice that a hardware store might use to represent an invoice for an item sold at the store. An Invoice should include four pieces of information as instance variables--a part number (type String), a part description (type String), a quantity of the item being purchased (type Integer) and a price per item (Type Integer). Your class should have a constructor that initialize for each of the four instance variables. Provide a property for each instance variable. If the quantity is not positive it should be set to zero. If the price per item is not positive it should be set to zero."
I attached the code I have. obj is underlined and says "Argument not specified for parameter 'Invoice4' of the 'Public Sub New (Invoice1 As Object, Invoice2 As Object, Invoice3 As Object, Invoice4 As Object)' and so the program won't run. What am I doing wrong?

I am creating an application where when I click on an image I need to mark the place using the x and y co-ordinates given by the click and then after marking I put a red dot/circle on that spot and then I need to save this image to a file including the dot/circle I marked. I have tried saving the image to the file but to no avail, I have been able to only save the PictureBox image and that doesn't include the graphics. It is only the base image. I have tried to save it as a bitmap but have not gotten anywhere with that either. It seems whenever I call the image.save it takes only the value of the underlying image and saves it.
