VS 2010 Launching New Process & Detecting If That Process Has An Error Message
Nov 19, 2011I am working on a small VB application that listens for commands sent from an Android app.
One of the functions is to extract an archive. I am familiar with how to listen for the unrar process to finish, so I can display a progressdialog on the phone while the extraction is happening, and clear it as soon as it's done.
BUT ... if there is an error/alert from WinRAR, WaitForExit() never gets called because WinRAR is still sitting there open until I click "OK" on the MsgBox.
For Example ... if you try to extract a file that is not actually an archive... an alert will pop up saying "No Archives Found", and basically everything is halted on the VB app and the Android app, and the Android app just sits on a progressdialog saying "extracting..." until you manually hit "OK" on the computer.
As you can imagine, this is a problem if the whole point of your app is to NOT have to go over to the computer.
So... I am wondering if there is something similar to WaitForExit() that will wait for an error and allow me to close out the alert and let the process end.

Office Automation :: Controlling Access 2003 From 2005 - Error Occurs When - Access Any Property Of "access.Forms("frmTest")"
Jul 17, 2009I have a program in VB.NET 2005. At some point I have to open an Access2003-Application for getting data in it. I do that by pretending my program is a human user and let it do all the work in Access as a human user would do. Filling Fields, pressing buttons etc. I use the Primary Interop Assemblies for that. So far so good. That code is in use for over half a year now. In the last week I got Office 2007 installed on my machine. Of course I tested the installed version of my program if everthing still works. Every test was succesfull. But if I do the same tests in Visual Studio it always crashes.
All I get is this Errormessage: {"Das COM-Objekt des Typs "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.FormClass" kann nicht in den Schnittstellentyp "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access._Form3" umgewandelt werden. Jul 18, 2008This is not a homework of mine and i had never tried ms access database with vb so i just gave it a shot. so this is my first time and i am just trying not asking anyone to complete my homework. I have been searching for this a lot on internet but couldn't find a solution to this so i decided to ask this question here.
i have this sql code. what i want to do is that create a basic login form where users puts it's username in the UsernameTextbox and Password in the PasswordTextbox. If the the information match then a message box appears saying that the user is valid and if the information does not exist, a mesage box appears saying the users is not valid. now everytime i execute(run) the code, i come up with this error: Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression ''UserName' = 'Admin' 'PassWord' = 'testing123''.
The field names(UserName, PassWord) are also correct they are same as in the database. the information put in the username and password textbox are correct and they match the information on the database. But i dont know why this error comes up.

The first 2 date time pickers are dedicated to creating an appointment date whilst the other 2 are for the purpose of changing an existing appointment date. When the date and time is entered into either one of the pairs (of date time pickers), the values inside get transferred to 2 corresponding textboxes. The user then clicks Save (btnSave) and the values are saved to sql.

Sep 4, 2009I have a web site where users enter company names to use in the rest of the app. However, recently I've noticed that similar duplicates are appearing, e.g. someone will enter EastTec Solicitors another will enter EastTec Solicitors Ltd someone else will enter EastTec Solictors (missed the i out in Solicitors), when there should only be one entry of EastTec Solicitors. What is the best way of checking the database for entries similar to what they have entered? How would you about checking for spelling mistakes as well like the Solicitors one?
