i have this line in my "server" manifest
<requestedExecutionLevel level="requireAdministrator"/>
But, at publish i get this error ClickOnce does not support the request execution level 'requireAdministrator'.What can i do, how can i go around. I can't make another app to start my app as admin. How can i disable ClickOnce? I've tried from Security tab, but at publish it enables it again.Write your code as efficient as you can to reduce CPU load, to consume less energy and protect our planet from global warming.

I have an application that runs using as AsInvoker manifest, this uses ProcessStartInfo to run another application that is using a HighestAvailable manifest (in my case this runs as Admin and I get the UAC prompt) the first app then quits. The second app then uses ProcessStartInfo to run the first app again, this time it runs as admin (no UAC prompt) I guess this is correct because it is AsInvoker and it is being invoke from an application that is running as admin, but I actually want it to run without Admin rights - or more correctly run it with the lowest possible execution level..I know you can use ProcessStartInfo.Verb = "runas" to elevate but can you descend?

We have an in-house developed VB.Net Windows Forms application that is losing users' individual connections to the SQL Server 2008 R2 database.The bolded message below is what appears.
A transport-level error has occurred when sending the request to the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.)I have looked at many numerous articles both from Microsoft and others, but have been unable to pinpoint the issue.Sometimes it occurs when the user has been away from the open application for a long-time; others maybe less than 20 minutes.

I wrote a VB code to call a sp in sql server 2005, which returns a recordset as follows:Dim objRecordset As ADODB.Recordset Set objComm = New ADODB.Command
Set objRecordset = objComm.Execute If Not objRecordset.BOF And Not objRecordset.EOF Then
Set objRecordset = objRecordset.NextRecordset I need to continue to get next recordset since there are many select statements inside the sp which I need to get the data. The code works fine when I create the DSN using SQL Server but it does not work when using the connection string or SQL Server Native Client DSN. It either breaks at Set objRecordset = objComm.Execute ( connection string )or at If Not objRecordset.BOF And Not objRecordset.EOF Then(SQL native client )
I have worked on this for a couple of days now and could not figure it out.Is this a bug in SQL Native Client or something related to some configuration on the database side? IS there a way I can change the connection property to get this working using SQL native client or connection string?

I am creating an Excel add-in written in VB.NET. I would like to bind KeyDown and KeyUp events to the spreadsheet to record when the user presses and releases the arrow keys while navigating the spreadsheetIdeally, these events would be built into Excel alongside the native SheetActivate and SheetSelectionChange events, for example. Alas, they are not.

I compiled some VB6 code on my Win7 x64 machine and the result .exe will not run correctly on any other machine. VB6 code is just a new template .exe file with one button, a reference to "Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 2.6 Library" and the following code in the button press event: Dim db Set db = New ADODB.Connection It runs correctly on my machine, but no others (even other Win7 x64 machines) (Update: I found TWO other users where it runs and one of them is Jeff Atwood!, but most machines have the same problem)

I have created a simple program which uses a two tier structure of SQL Tables.At the top level, one record holds the date of the activities and linked to it using its primary key as a foreign key, three subordinate tables hold time stamped records.The issue I have been unable to solve is that before adding any of the lower level records for a given date, a newly added top level record must be saved to the database.Doing this manually is simple - but can I rely on my users to remember to do this before they start plugging in the lower level data?I thought not, so I am looking to save the top level automatically.I've failed miserably but I refuse to believe that it's not possible.

I have recently started using Request("key") instead of Request.QueryString("key") to access my querystring values. However I have read that:
'Gets the specified object from the System.Web.HttpRequest.Cookies, System.Web.HttpRequest.Form, System.Web.HttpRequest.QueryString, System.Web.HttpRequest.ServerVariables'
Therefore, if I have a querystring key and cookie key which are the same, which value is returned?

I have multiple level of For Each and in each level, i have a Linq that is the 'In' criteria as in:
[Code]....
It will go inside each for (because the value is not nothing), however, it will only loop (next) in the very inner 'For Each t In tFor'. After it is finish inner loops, the outer Fors' or Next will not execute... even thought there are more than one values in that 'In'... like 'sFor' or 'fFor'. i've noticed while debuging, while break at the for (for example 'sFor', before stepping in), i get the error message:
"Enumeration yielded no results" when i expand the result for that variable and it will not step into it. but if i do not expand the result, it will step in. It seem that some how, once an element is accessed for that 'In' collection, it breaks (meaning does not loop for the rest of the elements) the next for that collection is this a bug or am i missing something in Linq? BTW: i believe it has something to do with the SqlDataReader in the Linq. I'm working with IAsyncResult.

My Request.Form keys are all prefixed with ctl00$container name$ and then the key I want.How can I get the regular key name working?
Visual example from the immediate window:I want to use:
? request.Form.Item("stationIdea")
but it won't work because the key is:
ctl00$content_innovation_body$stationIdea
as retrieved by
? request.Form.Keys("4")
so only this works:
? request.Form("ctl00$content_innovation_body$stationIdea")

I have to send a request to Webservice and I have a working PHP solution, that I have to translate in VB.net
Here's the code working in PHP
//fill in the details of the contacts.userId is obtained from loginResult.
$contactData = array('lastname'=>'Valiant', 'assigned_user_id'=>$userId);
//encode the object in JSON format to communicate with the server.
[code]....
Naturally I imported a reference to a Json library and Imported (Imports Newtonsoft.Json)?

read the COMPLETE email before giving me instructions.I say that because it seams like who ever is responding is only reading part of the email and responding.I have followed your instrutions and I still can not get myhello.vb to compile.
Both vbc.exe and mylello.vb is in the same folder c:program files
"C:Program Filesvbc.exe myhello.vb"
You stated that I should run command prompt as administrator and tye the same command as you do. what (as administrator) is. Please walk me through the complete process. Please do not tell me to run the command prompt as administrator because I do not know what that mean.I can not speak to my administrator. Also I attempting to compile a sample VB that came with the software, so using Visual Studio is not the solution.

Private Sub LoadData(Of T)(ByVal query As ObjectQuery(Of T),
ByRef result As IEnumerable(Of T))
If Connection.State = ConnectionState.Open Then
result = query.ToArray
Else
AddHandler Connection.StateChange,
[Code]...
In the above code I am trying to recurse the LoadData function when the connection is unavailable, I want to defer the loading to when it becomes available. The problem is the above code leads to a compiler error, since a ByRef param cannot be used in lambda expressions.

I am in need to delay the execution of a line of code, say, by 5 seconds. But by doing System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(5000)
the whole UI hangs and I don't want that to happen. Because I want to be able to display something in a Window that a user will be able to see. Does anyone know of an alternative of achieving this?

I have finished creating the code for my client/server application although both parts currently execute modules/in console(this was for testing purposes).I am now looking at making both parts of the program completely invisible (they will eventually be executed as a Windows service upon startup). How do i go about this? Does the code need to be copied in to a "Windows Service" project, or is there a way I can hide both of the modules upon execution?
