Finding Project - Create A Windows Application - Have Lost The .vbproj File
Jul 6, 2009
I am running vb.net in visual studio 2005 and i am fairly new to it all, whilst trying to create a windows application i have lost the .vbproj file and am only left with the .vb code that has been created whilst i have been using the toolbox to create the application graphically. Is there anyway for me to recover the .vbproj file without having to redo the whole thing?
I'm gearing up to work on a project which is migrating from VB6 to .NET 4.0. I have Visual Studio 2010 but wanted to try and open the original source code using the VB6 IDE. Can one still acquire this anywhere?I checked here:http:[url].... I have tried opening the original vb project file by changing the suffix from vbp to vbproj (let's call it MyProject.vbproj) but it just says it cannot interpret the file:
Unable to read the project file 'MyProject.vbproj'.
Can I safely move ReferencePath information from a .vbproj.user (or .csproj.user) file into the corresponding project file? Note: All developers will be using developing from the same location on their machines. We'd like to allow users to maintain their own settings for other things, but have this basic info be setup once and checked into source control to be shared to all.
There is a reference HostMessage.dll which is stored both in C:Frameworkin and C:PSEBinRelease. Now I want to add HostMessage.dll to the project AAA.vbproj which is in C:PSEAAA.I added it from the project property panel and I selected C:PSEBinReleaseHostMessage.dll.However after I added it I found that the reference path became C:Frameworkin automatally.
we have a CollabNet Subversion Edge server running on a Windows server. Subversion Server is configured to serve via https. When trying to import a Visual Studio project folder with TortoiseSVN it hangs when adding the project file (.vbproj). Test 1: It happens exactly the same when the server is configured to serve via http.Test 2: Importing any project folder using the console utility (svn) works fine.
Both these tests lead to the conclusion that there is neither a network nor authorization problem.
Following on from my last question, are the AssemblyMajorVersion, AssemblyMinorVersion,AssemblyRevisionNumber and GenerateRevisionNumber properties required in .vbproj files?
All of our components have these entries in the .vbproj files but they are completely out of sync with the AssemblyVersion and AssemblyFileVersion entries in the AssemblyInfo.vb files.
Are they a legacy from the upgrade from previous VS versions?
I have a project that uses the asp chart control. The project was developed to use .net 4.0 but the server uses version 3.5. I changed the project to 3.5 but now my charts don't work. When I change it it tells me that system.web.DataVisualisation.dll will be removed.
I have an error that keeps regenerating when the form is closed and open back up.
1) Windows Form Application (Project: TestProject)
2) Add class in same project:
Public Class Test : Inherits System.Windows.Forms.TextBox
3) Drag and drop into the form within the project (works fine)
4) Close form
5) Re-open form... then error about the class Test in the project not defined
Actual Error: Type 'TestProject.Test' is not defined.
Is there a best way around this besides creating a separate project and putting the 'Test' class in that separate project and referring that separate project in the 'TestProject'?
Modified Added: By the way... i've used Global.TestProject.Test... but then again another error generate with the custom property within the 'Test' class.
Now that I've got this service that runs really great on my 32-bit development machine when I use InstallUtil.exe to install it, I'm ready to take it to the next level and generate something that I can use to install it on my 64-bit production server. I've never done this before, so I'm looking for detailed, step-by-step instructions on how to "publish" this Windows Service that I've written, or make it such that I can take some kind of file (or set of files) and install my service on another machine. I'm looking for a way to do this using Visual Studio 2010. I think the processes are different than in previous versions of Visual Studio.
i want to create an installer of my program.but i want it to be with the aid of a wizardcould somebody tell me how to create it. i dun know how to create an installer.

Hello I want to create a windows form application program that can create games something like Gamemaker or Klik & Play (butt less advanced) with D&D "Drag and Drop" events and actions.

I need helps on the following of my questions. I want to separater my Windows application project into two parts.(Currently how i code is all my class, module, form will be in one single project)
Now I want to separate them into two projects under one solution. That is One project will only include pure design which is win forms. And another project will include DB processing and background business logic.
Can I know how to do that??Currently only way I can think of is pass the required win form control to the Class Project. But I don't think it is a good way. And at some point, I may need to use all controls on the form to perform a single job. So, I end up passing all controls to the Class Project.
I want to try to google it but don't know which key words I should use to search. My vocab power is not that good in english. If you know how or have some samples (even a button click or display some text sample) , please kindly share me about this.
The reason I do this is because I want to separate my business logic with design. So, later me or other developer who handle my projects can focus on business logic if something went wrong. I think this can make the projects easier to debug and study. And also easier to pass to end user if we update or fix the error. In so, we don't need to give the whole set up package to user. we only need to pass them the dll class.
I wanna use the C# code file in VB.Net project Which is windows based application. But that C# class is not using in VB.NET application. How Can I perform this task.

I have a web service that I'd like to include as a project reference inside a windows forms application. (The application will be running on non-networked hardware.) I could simply copy the *.vb files I need into my forms project, but I'd rather not fork the code base.It wasn't hard to include the ASP project in the windows forms solution. However, I can't figure out how to reference it in my forms code.
I am having an Activex Application (dll) which contains a third party control ie a Chart Control, as well as a Windows Application(.EXE). I am using that dll project in my exe application in order to populate the Activex user Control. If i double-click on the Activex Control, how can i pass an event handler from this dll Project to Windows application? If this event gets worked successfully, i have to load a screen from that windows application.
When the user clicks on the Activex Control, ie the Chart Control, is there any way to send a event handler from dll project to Windows Application?
i want to create a user control using WIA but i m get a error message at run time Error Assembly generation failed -- Referenced assembly 'Interop.WIALib' does not have a strong name. i m working of windows server 2003.
I have been given a project to do were i have to create a credit union application in Visual studio2008 am just wondering if you could tell me what i need to create this application like how many labels textboxs etc obviously i need to create it but all am asking is if you could tell me were to start as i am lost and never really created anything in vs 2008. here is the spec
The applicant's age is considered, thus
CODE:
The client is prompted for their name and a personal reference number. If the application is successful then this number becomes the loan agreement reference number.
If the applicant has a credit rating of 14 or more points the application is rejected.
If the credit rating is less than 14 points then the client is prompted for the loan period (must be equal to 12, 24 or 36 months) and the amount required.
The cost of the loan is 6% if required over 12 months and 8% if over 24 months and 12% over 36 months. This is added to the loan.
The applicant's net monthly income and total monthly outgoings are taken into account.
If the monthly repayment is more than 25% of disposable income (net income outgoings), then the application is rejected.
If the repayment is less than or equal to 25% then the loan is granted and a form is produced and printed with the relevant information, including the loan and repayment amounts.
I have a vb.net windows form app that I am deploying as using the visual studio deployment project. The app needs to write event logs to the application log in the event viewer. For reasons explained here I need to create the event source during the installation process. Something like this to run as part of the installer
If Not EventLog.SourceExists(My.Application.Info.ProductName) Then EventLog.CreateEventSource(My.Application.Info.ProductName, "Application") End If
That code needs to be run during the installer with elevated privileges. So my questions are:
How do I execute that code above as part of the installer? How do I get the installer to do the UAC prompt to allow that code to run as part of the installation?
How do I fix this error in Visual Studio? "The project file cannot be loaded. The application for project ... is not installed" I have copied a whole project onto my PC, both into My Documents/Visual Studio and into inetpub/wwwroot, but when I try to open the project in Visual Studio, it tries to open just 1 file .vssproj and gives me error messages, like : "The project file cannot be loaded. The application for project ... is not installed.". What am I doing wrong? The VS edition is 2005 as are all the projects aI am trying to load.
In my VS2010 VB project I have a lot of external references to DLLs, to the point that organization has become a major headache and I'm wondering if I am going about it the wrong way. My assembly references include common redistributables (SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP1, ReportViewer 2010 SP1, DataVisualization, as well as some useful 3rd party dlls from CodeProject and CodePlex.
Currently, I am copying each DLL into a 1st level folder (/dll_lib) under my named project folder (under the solution folder), and adding the reference from that path. However, I see that Visual Studio copies the DLLs to various other locations (/bin/debug or /bin/release) in my project when I build the project or solution, and some of the 3rd party DLLs come with instructions to copy them manually to /bin.
What is the "best practice" for where to put the DLLs? Can I just put all of them under /bin and let the build event copy to /bin/debug or /bin/release as required? Should I try to force a single reference path for the dlls in the project output?
With VB.net, I'm coding a simple application to get more used to the new .Net format.
I'd like to save all the information to a 'new' database file. how to create a database on the fly, once that is done i'll be able to connect to it no problem, but actually creating the file is proving difficult to work/find out.
Also, with vb.net and the newly created custom file, how can it be made to automatically open that information with the program?
Is there a method in installation to associate the file type with the new program? How can i check when the program loads if a database file has been 'double-clicked' (rather than just running from the .exe of the program) and proceed to load the data?
EDIT1 - Extra InfoThe windows application has many different fields and content etc, then i need to save that to a file that could later be loaded by 'double clicking'. I assumed the easiest way would be to create a mini-database for each unique file
I am having a windows application. That downloads files from server and write into the local directory. It works fine. When we try the same appliication in Windows 7. IT shows an error Access to the path denied (While writing to the local directory).
