Code:
Public Class Form1
Private Sub ConvertPigLatin(ByVal wordConvert As String, ByRef pigLatinWord As String)
If wordConvert.Substring(0, 1).ToUpper Like "[AEIOU]" Then
i need to create somthing that lets someone enter a work and it will show it in pig latin form this is what i need.
1. If the word begins with a vowel then add -way to the end of the word like if they put "ant" it will show "ant-way"
2. if it doesnt start with a vowel then add a dash to the end and move the letters from the front to behind the dash untill it hits a vowel then put "ay" at the end so "Chair" is "air-Chay"
3. if it doesnt contain a vowel then ass "-way" to then end so "56" is "56-way"
this is what i just started...
Private Sub btnStart_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnStart.Click Dim oldpass As String = txtEnglish.Text Dim coded As String = txtEnglish.Text Dim NumChars As Integer
Im having serious problems with this code. I can get the first and last words to change into pig latin but the middle of my phrase stays the same. I also seem to have problems with it repeating itself.
Public Class Form1 Private Sub translatebutton_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles translatebutton.Click Dim pig As String = ""
In an application we can output a report as a csv file and load it up similar to the following code:
Process.Start("C:MyReport.csv") ' Not real path
When running code analysis it produces the following error:
CA2122 Do not indirectly expose methods with link demands 'Form.Function(Definition)' calls into 'Process.Start(String)' which has a LinkDemand. By making this call, 'Process.Start(String)' is indirectly exposed to user code
I have seen somewhere to mark the assembly with the SecurityTransparentAttribute, does this just suppress the message? If so this is not what I would like. Is there another way of opening the file that would circumvent this message without suppressing it? I would ideally like to avoid Excel automation if I can as Excel is not used anywhere else at the moment.
I have my code working well but with OPTION STRICT OFF. I have decided to fixed all my errors in the code. However after setting the OPTION STRICT to "On", my code have lots of errors. I was able to fixed most of the errors with the except of this DIM statement where I think I have to insert CDate to (Mid$(row("TIME"), 12, 8) >= minTime) and (Mid$(row("TIME"), 12, 8) >= maxTime):
What .Net functionality will allow a conversion from unicode to 7bit characters? For example, let's say that I want to convert "" to "eea". I thought I would find it in System.Text but it has been eluding me.
I am trying to develop a program in Visual basic.ne(.NET Framework 3.5) where textbox will only accept integer. User wont be able to type char/decimal or other type.
I am trying to figure out how to count the words that start with a vowel and also count the words that start with a consonant. I have tried several different ways on trying to do this but no luck. I have worked on this for a couple days already. Very frustrated I need some assistance with this issue

I am in the process of fixing my code to be in line with Option Strict On, but the code below is still throwing an error and I don't know why. What do you think?
i can always get the first word to translate but the other words jumble together and sometimes repeat themselves. The rules for this program are as follows: To translate an English word into a pig Latin word, place the first letter of the English word (if it is not a vowel) at the end of the English word and add the letters ay. If the first letter of the English word is a vowel, place it at the end of the word and add Using this method, the word jump become umpjay, the word the becomes hetay and the word ace becomes ceay. Blanks between words remain blanks. So far this is what I've got:
After exporting data using a third party component the data in the excel sheet isn't type correctly. Excel thinks that some values are string while they are numbers and a little green triangle shows up.
We've coded the following to fix this:
For Each objCell As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Range In objWorkSheetReport.Range(objWorkSheetReport.Cells(1, 1), objWorkSheetReport.Cells(Me.RowCount + 10, Columns.Count + 10)).Cells
[Code].....
This removes all those little green triangles but is really slow.
Is there a faster way to convert a Range of data quickly so the green triangles don't show up?
This is my programs complete code, the only problem is i want to fix the amount of decimal places that show up in my gridview. The problem is if i do this on the asp side the location of the column gets thrown off and the column is duplicated. I figured if i just remade the table on the asp side it would work only problem is if i remove the sql for that particular column the asp side column cannot get data.
I am making a program that NEEDS to be password protected, so i made a textbox with a code so that when the user enters the right password it lets you in. But if the user/person enters a wrong password 2X it will kick you out. So is there a way to keep the
I wrote this VB program to be able to throw a device we developed into programming mode where we use an ATMEL Flip installer to upload new firmware. I can program one device after another running the application off of Visual Studio Express 2010 or Visual Studio 2010, but when I go to publish this file and run it on another machine, it becomes unstable and crashes after each upload. On those same computers if I run the raw unpackaged program under Visual Studio Express, the system does not crash, and I can program devices repeatedly.
Dim IncomingCommand As String = e.CommandLine.Item(0).ToString
If IncomingCommand.Substring(0, 2) = "-1" Then
form1.close()
End If
End If
I am trying to make the program close if the -1 string is sent with the program. See my installer allows for me to run certain programs before it actually installs, but it doesn't shut down copies of the program itself. So I have a next startup instance set to shut the program down if the -1 is received. But if the program is not running it starts up instead. This is not desired. form1.close doesn't work. e.cancel = true doesn't work, etc etc. What can I do to make the program not start during this instance.

I've been working on a program that generates a batch file, then when you press a button, it executes that batch file. There are multiple batch files attached to each item in the list box.
[code]...
The only thing that it does when I press the button, is starts the batch file, then goes to function searchtitle, which executes the batch file again when it finds out it didn't work properly. The button text doesn't change, none of the items are being added to my first list box, and I can't do anything to the window after pressing the button. It constantly opens the batch file every 5 seconds or so.
How can you add a image where when you double click on the icon and the program starts it shows a picture before the program loads. Like Photoshop startup or the new 2010 visual Basic express start up
I have a procedure at the end of my console application that ask the user to either hit enter to end the program, or type s to perform another search. The issue I'm having is no matter what the user types in the program end. What I would like to happen is if the user types s, then the program starts over and lets the user perform another search. The program is procedural and I need to find a way to start back off at the top of the program which ask the user to type a name to search.
Anyway, I'm a teacher and am writing a program that simply shows kids a word on a flashcard. There are 2 buttons, 1 to read the word and 1 to go to a new work. There are going to be 300 words. Really I'm just testing it right here. What I want to know is should I be inputting all the words right into the code like I did with "hi" and "not 1" (Don't ask. those are just the 2 random words I picked to test this out with). OR is there a better way (maybe somehow to type all the words on a text file and have the program randomly pull one of them (I don't know how to do this).
Here is the code so far:
Public Class Form1 Dim word Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
