I'm attempting to learn VB in college. My first project is to create a program in Small Basic and then write it in Visual Basic. I'm looking for the equivalent of TextWindow.ReadNumber() from Small Basic in Visual Basic. I want to force the user to input a number not letters. I'm writing this program for the Console. Is this possible? During my testing I entered a word instead of numbers and the program crashed.

I have a text box labled QTY, which feeds the QTY column on a datatable. the table then is ran through a function that takes the data and converts it to a string which my production machine can read. My problem is this, and its probably really simple (these problems usually are) how to i force the user to use a specific type of input on the txtbox so they would have to put the QTY in the format of 01 02 03 etc etc, i have it set to default to 00 but i want to force the user to haver to input 2 chars.

I have an existing database that I want to add a number to that the user inputs. So lets say that in the database there is 4 carrots, and the user on the addinventoryform inputs 3 carrots and pushes a button. Now I want that number to be added to the database number so in the database there would now be seven carrots. I am using an oledb connection and cannot figure this out.

Im working on writing a program for doing standard deviation and as of right now im running into one slight issue with subtracting my mean from the original numbers. I will post most of my code so you can get an over view but i mostly just want help on this one little part for now. Im going to be making a website for school and put some programming stuff on it so i wanted to make just some random programs for it so this is school related but not really homework. It's line 26 and 27 that this is relating to. When i put a stop in my code and look at the result of arrayDifferences it gives me 0.0 when it should be -1. I know i can go this route and say arrayDifferences(1) = arrayDifferences(1) - arrayAvg but seeing as how i want this to be a random number of numbers input by the user i cant do that.

I've got an application that bi-directionally syncs with an SQL express 2008 server. right now, I've got a hardcoded sa user in my conection string, however one feature that was asked for was to audit every change made by end users into the database. To implement this, I've created a user login and password for each user that is going to use my app (8 of them) on my sql server, however I now need to change the connection string to include each users name in the string. this maybe an easy one for mos of you! I have a windows that is displayed as full screenThe window contains a series of images (movie posters) and the name below it. When you user clicks on a movie poster a new window appears (smaller window) in the middle of the screen.I want to force the user to close close on the small window before procedding. I cannot figure out how to incorporate the number of days into the input box then get it to loop and count the number of times the User inputs in the number of days. Then I have to incorporate it into the equation to get the total distance D = MPH * Hours. What I have right now wil not count up the number of days and locks up after I input one number and will not add anything to the listbox. Because I also have to make sure that they cant add nonnumaric values and the number of hours per day cannot exceed 20. I have put things in and taken them out but it has been 2 days and I am lost now

so you see up the top i have if all any fields ="" then error that's fine it's a problem i need to so if statements so "account number" and hone number" cant be letters etc and if they are a error box will come up how i have done it does do that but ti still continues down the code hence cashing when getting to declaring things how to fix this?
Basically I just want it so that someone can type in their password but it comes up as Asterisks (*) instead of their password.I'm using VB 2010 and making a Console Application.
