Handling Control Attributes Within A GroupBox Control?
May 16, 2012I have a form in which their is a GroupBox control. I set the Font's Bold property to TRUE. I know that by default any other control put inside a gorupbox will inherit the Font's property settings. I have textboxes and labels in which I manually reset the Font Bold property to FALSE, however, I have a DataGridView that I did the same thing with but whenever I run the app in test mode, it reverts back to the Fonts' Bold property as TRUE rather than FALSE.

Aug 23, 2011I'd like to make a GroupBox have a black line as its boarders , just in the old VB6 , but it seems there isn't any such a property . Look , for example in the picture below : First there is GroupBox control but it can only have a line around it without color . Next , there is a Panel control , but the problem with that is that it can't have a caption set . At the far right side there is Panel control with a Label control placed over it . That's the best way I can think of in order to make something that at least will look like with what I have in mind . However , is there any other way I could do that ?

Feb 4, 2010I have a groupox in a VB.NET winform app. The groupbox contains a few Labels, Textboxes and Checkboxes. This was created by simply dragging the controls out of VS toolbox. What I need to do is take the 1 Groupbox and at runtime create multiple Groupboxes to display based on user selection. Instead of dynamically creating the Groupboxes and other controls nested inside, is there a way to clone or copy the original one. Then I'd just change the properties. Label text, Textbox text, etc. And the location of the Groupbox in the layout.

Sep 2, 2010I have a Custom Groupbox that overrides the OnPaint event to do some custom drawing, backgrounds, etc. The problem I have is that when I use it in an application and want to draw text on the control, it gets drawn first, then immediately afterwards the OnPaint from the control gets called and draws on top of the text. Is there any way to get the text drawn after the control's OnPaint?

There were several things in the code that needed fixing to really be useful to me:The fact that the panel in the regular groupbox overlapped the checkbox control so that the bottom of some letters were being cut off. When changing the back color of the groupbox, it didn't change the back color of the checkbox. Fixing these two problems was easy, but fixing the second one led to a new problem. When changing the backcolor of the groupbox to Transparent, it also changes the backcolor of the checkbox to Transparent, thus displaying the text for both the checkbox and the groupbox's header.

Mar 15, 2010I've got a Panel on a main Form containing a PictureBox control on Top of a TableLayout control. Both the child controls have their docking properties set to Top. The Picture control has sizemode set to Zoom.
What I'm finding is that the picture doesn't size properly when I start the app. There is a border at the top and bottom in the PictureBox control. It's only when I resize the overall form that it's correct.
So at the moment I've got this ugly bit of startup code, just to fix the problem Me.WindowState = FormWindowState.Normal Me.WindowState = FormWindowState.Maximized
What am I missing?

Now when user move the splitter the user control size is changes as it is dock fill but the inner controls used in that user control looks like fixed in a single place .It are not moving nor resizing .How to do this .Is there any property to perform thisI already know about anchor property but sometimes it causes overlapping of controls so I can not use it.

Dec 29, 2010Here's my situation: I have a control with motion graphics (for the sake of simplicity, a 'video player' control) in my project. Think of a PictureBox with constantly-changing images. In front of this will sit a second control (such as a second PictureBox of the same dimensions). The topmost PictureBox will be drawn to in its Paint event.
I need to draw very few elements, and the bottom control is updated much more frequently than I need for this drawing. So these elements are drawn to the topmost control. Think of a news broadcast, where they have live video in the background, with a news channel logo, news ticker, and sometimes gradient visible in front.
I'm trying to create that 'foreground' control, and the closest I believe I have gotten so far is the following:

The 'Opacity' property in the code above is a sort of "scaling factor." The image drawn to the top control may, in different parts of the image, have any alpha value from full transparent to a full 255. This 'Opacity' property is applied to the entire image being drawn, scaling the alpha values of each pixel.

Nov 13, 2008I have a control on a form - I need to know the coordinates of that control relative to the FORM.
Now before I get six replies saying, "Control.Location DUH!!" that only works when the control's parent IS the form. What if the control is nested inside one or more container controls?
Could I write a routine that crawls up all parent containers until I reach the form calculating each offset as I go? Sure! But this extremely crude operation seems clunky to me - What I'm looking for is something a little cleaner.
So far the closest I've been able to come is this:

The problem with the above code is: It does NOT take the Form's border or Titlebar into consideration... so this calculated location would be off slightly depending on what kind of border the form has.

Nov 22, 2009I have a modified button control with a string array in it. I am having trouble sending the string array to the form with the modified button on it. Anyone know what i can do? The form uses a arrayList to hold the buttons since they are made at runtime.
