I have a functioning program, but it isn't working as designed. Changes and updates are being written directly to the text files, so the listbox doesn't display current information unless it is refreshed in some way. The instructions say that this program should commit files once a "Save accounts to File" button is clicked. Obviously, my program doesn't make use of the button. I was going through another project where changes were written to a list box, and committed to the files upon exit. However the text files were in LSV format, and the program used an array of structures instead of classes.

View 5 RepliesI tried to write a text written in my textbox to file.(a .txt). I scanned it to see if it contained any illegal characters, the program said that it did not. However, when I went to save it it said that the program performed an illegal operation.
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException was unhandled Message: Exception from HRESULT: 0x800A0005 (CTL_E_ILLEGALFUNCTIONCALL).
It created the text file but did not write the content of the textbox to the file.I can save the text in Microsoft word without a problem. Is there something wrong with the encoding for the textbox and how do I set the encoding for the characters so I can write it to a text file.
I'm returning a database query into a List object and using that list object to fill the X and Y axes of my chart as seen below. (_runData is a "List(of DatabaseTableName)" style Object filled with the results of my query.

I would like to combine the two things in the title to use as a query for an access database. I think i kind of know what to do, but then it doesn't work so i actually dont, the error i am getting in runtime is that the query is incomplete. The line of code in question is this:

when the file is not exists it will create than append a text to it -> then it always error( The process cannot access the file 'C:UsersAdministratorDesktopW-LTSinDebugStudent.txt' because it is being used by another process.) so how can i do?
but if the exists i can append text, it works properly.

I'm writing a small program where i need to insert a small piece of text in an existing text-file ( .txt).

this is probably a bit tense and I'm not sure if this is possible at all. But basically, I'm trying to create a small application which contains alot of PowerShell-code which I want to run in an easy matter.
I've managed to create everything myself and it does work. But all of the PowerShell code is manually hardcoded and this gives me a huge disadvantage. What I was thinking was creating some sort of dynamic structure where I can read a couple of text files (possible a numerous amount of text files) and use these as the source for both the comboboxes and the richtextbox which provovides as the string used to run in PowerShell.
I was thinking something like this:
Combobox - "Choose cmdlet" - Use "menucode.txt" as source
Richtextbox - Use "code.txt" as source
But, the thing is, Powershell snippets need a few arguments in order for them to work. So I've got a couple of comboboxes and a few textboxes which provides as input for these arguments. And this is done manually as it is right now. So rewriting this small application should also search the textfile for some keywords and have the comboboxes and textboxes to replace those keywords. And I'm not sure how to do this.
So, would this requre a whole lot of textfiles? Or could I use one textfile and separate each PowerShell cmdlet snippets with something? Like some sort of a header?

Now, this snippet above lets me either use a text file as a source for each username used in the powershell snippet. Just so you know :) And I know, this is probably coded as stupidly as it gets. But it does work! :)

On the main form of my application, I have a Rich Text Box which is where the user will be entering information. The text is black. then, i have a button which calls the dialogue "Notes" A dialogue appears, with a rich text box. the user should then be able to enter text into the box, click "OK", and the text entered into the Notes dialogue be inserted to the rich text box on the main form -- with the font colour "Red". The rest of the text in the main rich text box on the main form should remain black.

When you click on a Help topic in the ListView, the text in the RichTextbox is supposed to change accordingly. The text file is part of the application's resources.
