I am an Engineer and have been programming VB6 for 10 years and now writing in VB2010 Professional.I am trying to write technical data to Excel which works fine with this code: In a module I dimension
Public appExcel As Object
Public wbook As Object
Public wsheet As Object
[code]....
I got this code by recording macros and transferring the code. Everything after the "=" sign gets the error "is not declared. It may be inaccessible..."
eg .LineStyle = xlContinuous The error items are shown in itallics.
I sure would appreciate some code that opened current worksheet, write to the worksheet and do just those formats that I mentioned (cell color, border).
I got a code that exports datagridview to excel, how can I format the worksheet in excel through coding in vb.net because I have to include a header before the data in the datagridview nd some data that is in my form in vb.net like the values in my labels and textboxes.
I seen some threads about export to Excel, but I tried all of it and nothing worked.I need to export the data on a DataGridView to an Excel (97 if it's possible or 2003 if not) sheet, using VB2010.
I have a form that exports to an Excel worksheet (sheet1) and it works great, no issues there or anything. It's not a template, just a regular .xlsx spreadsheet, but I use it as my template. Now, the goal is for the end user to be able to fill out the form, and save it as todays date. How does it get todays date? In the Excel sheet, N2 is todays date, and it gets it from the form. Then save it in a specific folder.
I am new to programming but having fun. I have the following code that connects to my first spreadsheet fine. I am so used to working with a variable, is this the best way to get a single cell from a spreadsheet. Ideally I would like myDataArray(3) to hold the 4 cell values.
All I would like to do concatinate text from two different cells using VB Express 2010. I know there is a =A1&" "&B1 Funtion if I were using excel an thier is also the concatinate function but I do not know how to use these in VB. Below is what I have so far for simply copying one cell to another.
title = CType(xlsApp.Sheets(Counter1), Excel.Worksheet).Range("A1")
I wrote a small program in VB.NET to export data from DataGrid to Excel and it works perfectly. My manager now wants me to display the data in a presentable format. How should I go about it. I recorded a macro but was unable to apply that in vb.net.
Can someone give me some code to set the cell of an excel spreadsheet to a number format that use a max of 2 decimal places. Or would it work better it I change the data I am putting into the cell to a proper format? Here is a sample of data that is going in. Right now its going in as a string... col("ADJ").ToString() where col is a DataTable oject.
I have this really weird problem, in excel I'm using a user form to get the date from the user. I used the calendar control in toolbox. So when the user selects the date it goes to its text box, still in the user form correctly formatted as dd/mm/yy.
I have the following code that needs to connect to my four spreadsheets for FileName(). I havent built the loop yet for the other three, but I am so used to working with a variable. Is this the best way (datatable) to get a single cell from a spreadsheet and if so how do I view the data once it is in the datatable? Ideally I would like myDataArray(3) to hold the 4 cell values. Please help. I am stuck. I want to be able to get the cell value $K2 form each sheet without invoking Excel. I think I am close, but dont know how to get the data from the table. These four cell values will be displayed and then emailed to our Country Director.
Is there a way to conditionally format an Excel Chart? For example I have a bar graph. Currently I have the bars a purple color. I would like to turn a certain bar red if it meets certain criteria. Is there anyway to do this?
I have a column 'A' in worksheet 'two' and another column 'B' in worksheet 'one' !I want to copy the conditional formatting of Column A in two to Column B in one !Basically, I want to copy everything from Column A in two to Column B in one except the data
I have this page with a gridview that displays data that needs to be formated with different colors according to the values it gets. Now, I already export it into excel, no problem, but someone decided that the excel file should be colour formated just as the grid on the web page. You can see on the attachment the web page and the excel file in question. When I export to excel, its all white, obviously. How do I get to do this? To worsen things, I'm not even into VB, I do Java, but somebody asked me to solve this, It wasn't even me who did the export to excel code in the first place.
I am generating excel from code.I am trying to customize the cells through .net code.and I also want to add the localization , so that after generating the excel when the user tries to enter the decimal it should take that locale number format.how to format decimals with thousand seperator en-US a number looks like 1,000.45 and Dutch-Belgium it becomes 1.000,45 I mentioned decimal in my code as worksheet.Range(Range).NumberFormat = "###,###.##" How to chnage this format for different locales.
I have a asp.net page that generates a report. For better or for worse, the entire thing is generated using nested tables. I am able to export the page to excel, however I lose all my formatting (can't set column widths, etc). Is there a way to handle this? I'm open to adding any goofy MS Office -specific tags that are required to the html side of it.If this isn't feasible and if anyone has any other ideas, the requirement is that users need a report that:
a) They can manually touch up with some personalization / area-specific data
b) Needs to be hide/show columns based on user's location
My code simply runs procedure at SQL Server and copy data into excel. Excel is then saved, closed and released from memory. After that I have added code for Cells alignemnt and Cells formatting and problem raised again and excel is again pending in running processes. 4 rows of sheet alignemnt causes that, and when I comment them, then its ok again. Same when I used formatting by .NumberFormat.
Public Sub Main() Dim xlApp As Excel.Application, xlWB
I have a program that creates a excel spreadsheet and a chart on each tab from extracted data in various .txt files. Before the chart is created, two of the excel columns will end up with data like this: on column 9 and 10. I also use data (time, looks like 09:15) in column 11 that shows the time at the bottom of the chart. There are just too many digits in the output and the readability looks bad so I can also convert.
Input Output 800400047320000 825400047120000
[code]....
The chart will display those values just fine but, normally the conversion in code that I do during the placement of that data (so it reads a bit better) looks like this:
'Convert bit to Kbit If InRate.Length < 7 Then InRate = CDbl(InRate) / 1000 & " Kbit"
[code]....
how to make the chart work with just numbers and ignore the MB or Kbit at the end?
I already exporting contents of my datagridview to excel and word but I need to format one of the column of my datagridview. That column is "Amount". In my datagridview, it displays like this "122234". I want to display all the value in that column in this format: "122,234.00". I already tried to format it to number("N") in my datagridview but when I exported it to excel and word, it shows no format.[code]
I'm using ODBC to export tables from a dataset to an Excel file without auto-formatting Excel or even needing to have Excel installed on the users PC. This works great but I just had a request to autosize the columns and make the header line bold. The only way I know of doing this is to fully automate Excel to control the row/column/cell formatting. Does anyone know a way of doing this without auto-formatting Excel?
I'm creating a program in VB.net that does the following:At a high level I receive a file in email, put the attachment in a monitored folder, import the text file to excel, format the excel, and then email the excel file to a list of recipients.
Here is my plan:
Completed: Outlook VBA to monitor all incoming email for specific message. Once message is received drop attached .txt file in a specific network folder.
Completed: (VB.net) Monitor folder, when text file is added begin processing
Not Complete: (VB.net) Import text file to Excel
Not Complete: (VB.net) Format Excel Text file.(add in a row of data, format column headers with color/size, add some blank columns, add data validation to some of the blank columns that allow drop down selections)
Completed: (VB.net) Save file.
Completed: (VB.net) Send file to list of recipients.
Obviously the items above that are not complete are the bulk of the work, but I wanted to get some advice on what some of you think would be the best way to approach something like this. The import and formatting of the file are causing me some problems because I just can't decide what would be the most efficient way to do this.
The way stated above. Import to excel -> format Having a template excel that contains all of the formatting already done for me and attempting to transition the data to this document (no clue if/how I can do this). Is it even feasible? Have the template already created and then import the text file to a new excel file, then transition that data to the excel template?
Something I thought about, in terms of formatting the document, was to record a macro of me doing all of the formatting that I'm going to need and then attempt to convert that macro into my vb.net code, but I'm not sure if that will work. I will need to verify that the text file comes in the EXACT format every time correct?
I am throwing some data out into Excel and am having some formatting troubles. I have 5 columns (date, time, a long number I don't want displayed in scientific notation - text is fine, text, text). I can get it all working with numberformat, however I have to do them different ways.
Date works this way cell.numberformat = "m/d/yy" and it formats it to say 3/1/11
Time works this way cell.numberformat = "h:mm AM/PM" and it formats it to say 8:07 AM
For the long number cell.numberformat = "@" and it doesn't change the format and it gets displayed in scientific notation
BUT if I use cell.style.numberformat = "@" it works as it should, but it messes up all of the date and time cells. Apparently when you use style.numberformat, it doesn't just apply to the cell you're working with. If I try using style.numberformat with the date and time formats, they don't change and are entered as if I didn't change the format at all.
