I have an array of items where i have separated the first two characters, which in my case are ID tags. I have populated my CLBox and the output is like this
AA
Aa
BB
[Code]...
What would the process be to do this, would i need to create a reference list or stringbuilder for all the tags(there is about 3000 tags) or would it be possible to loop through and count the matches. I declared the Tags thinking that i could do something from there.
I tried this vb Dim matches As String() = Regex.Matches(tmpFieldContent, strEmail).Cast(Of Match)().ToArray() But it didn't work, as vb says 'Cast' is not a member of System.Text.RegularExpressions.MatchCollection'.
I would like to know how i can count the character from a string.dim mystring as string = "myfilename_employee--2010-11-23-45-00--empid200"i need to see if this string have "--" two if it is less or more than two i need to alert to the user.
I need help with this program where the program has a textbox that will allow you to input the strings, and then it will output how many letters, numbers, and special characters can be found on the given input.url...
I am new to programming with vb2008 and I am trying to fill out a form on line. The form looks for keystrokes and keeps track of the number of characters typed. There are two elements on the form that use this method. The first area will allow me to fill in the data using the usual method of setting the attribute "value" of the field as the data I wish to insert. But the characters are not counted. The second area does not fill at all.The code for the fields are as follows.
I'm scanning through all characters in a textbox. Then the program counts how many of each character is in the textbox. Here's the code which adds all characters to a list:
For each c as char in TxtBox list.add(c) Next
Everything's working fine, except this will also add returns to the list, which I don't want. I thought I could write like this:
How would you select the last part of a string starting at a specific character count. For example I would like to get all text after the 3rd comma. but I get an error saying "StartIndex cannot be less than zero."
Dim testString As String = "part, description, order, get this text, and this text" Dim result As String = "" result = testString.Substring(testString.IndexOf(",", 0, 3))
count the number of times when a user enters a character followed by , and I want to count , number of times. So far here is what I have if you also know a little about the split function can you check to see if what I have is right?
Private Sub Strat0_LostFocus() Dim q1 As New rdoQuery Dim LO As Integer
I'm having a problem trying to get the array to count. Computing the average rainfall works but counting the aboveavgcount and belowavgcount isn't working out right.I'm not sure if i'm not storing the array correctly or if it's a coding error somewhere.
Sub Sort() ReDim RollsCC(NumOfPlayers - 1) For N As Integer = 0 To (NumOfPlayers - 1)[code]....
Here I am creating a temp single dimensional array, merging my 2d array into it, and then attempting to sort it by Rolls(N,1), which is a integer 1-6, Everything seems to be working right with the exception of this.
RollsCC.Sort(RollsCC, 0, 1)
How would one specify a numeral sort based on the first character in the string? im aware that I am switching Rolls(n,1) and Rolls(n,0) information during the sort.
Now I'm VERY new at the reading in a text file and storing into arrays thing and tried for hours last night to figure this out, googling and every possible way of writing the code. However, I don't know what to try next and I'm getting more confused by the minute. I have a text file which I load into my program. This data is stored into 6 arrays, each of which has data that comes from either a combobox, date or text field. What I'm trying to do is to find the count of items in each index of the array.
I have an multi dimed array of stock sizes, material type and count. The array could have duplicate arrays. In the end I need an array that is condensed with no duplicate and the count field is how many there were in the array. Example: Original array Material: STL TUBG Stock Size: 3" X 3" X 0.250" W/T X 254MM Material: STL TUBG Stock Size: 3" X 3" X 0.250" W/T X 254MM Material: STL TUBG Stock Size: 3" X 3" X 0.250" W/T X 254MM Material: STL TUBG Stock Size: 3" X 3" X 0.250" W/T X 254MM Material: STL TUBG Stock Size: 3" X 3" X 0.250" W/T X 102MM Material: STL TUBG Stock Size: 3" X 3" X 0.250" W/T X 102MM Material: HRS Stock Size: 1" X 4" X 175MM Material: HRS Stock Size: 1" X 4" X 175MM Material: HRS Stock Size: 1" X 4" X 175MM Material: HRS Stock Size: 1" X 4" X 175MM I need Material: STL TUBG Stock Size: 3" X 3" X 0.250" W/T X 254MM Count: 4 Material: STL TUBG Stock Size: 3" X 3" X 0.250" W/T X 102MM Count: 2 Material: HRS Stock Size: 1" X 4" X 175MM count: 4
I have the code below that requires me to convert a character array to string array, but I get the following error: Option Strict On disallows implicit conversions from '1-dimensional array of Char' to 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable(Of String)'
Dim lst As New List(Of String) lst.AddRange(IO.Path.GetInvalidPathChars()) lst.AddRange(IO.Path.GetInvalidFileNameChars()) lst.Add("&") lst.Add("-") [Code] .....
I tried using a converter through Array.ConvertAll, but couldn't find a good example, I could use a loop, but thought there would be a better way.
I have a Windows form that has a datagridview on it. I populate it with records from a database. I have a checkbox on each row. Then I have a textbox on the form outside of the datagridview. Each time a checkbox is checked I want to count it and show it in the text box. Each time a checkbox is unchecked I want it to subtract the count.
basic question which i cant figure out is i have a listbox and i total up all the values in it and send it to a text box. but in the listbox i cant have more than 10 items in it i at the moment have a message box telling me how many items i have in the listbox which is simply MsgBox(ListBox2.Items.Count()) when the 10th item is entered i need it to not allow me to enter anymore so i know it needs to go 0-9 but not sure how to implement it.
I have a SQL database which I'm running a query against to return a list of names - eg using "select names from table"I would like to add all of these names to an array so I can use them later. To do this I would need to use a dynamic array as the number of names returned could be anything.Apart from first running "select count(names) from table", getting a value and then Redim'ing the array on the count is there another method I can use.I've seen there's a dataset row.count? Can I somehow use this?
connection.Open() reader = command.ExecuteReader() While reader.Read()
I have been trying to write code that asks the user for the size of an array , and then takes inputs from the array. They are characters A-E... Then I am to call a function that will count the frequency of A,B,C,D,E . Then it is supposed to send the information to a listbox. Eg. There are 2 A's,There are 0 B's, There are 5 C's..
I have the code for populating the array, but when it comes to searching it for the frequencies..This is what i have so far.. [code...]
method to query. I then use a datarepeater to display the results. Is there a way to programatically tell if no results are returned? I'm aware of the Dataset.tables.Rows.count, but can this be done after the select method?
