I designed a application on vb.net 2005. Some of the forms in this application has databindings controls. Now when such forms loads it takes some time. I want a splash screen or wait dialog containg "Please wait" message to appear till the form loads and the wait splash screen would be shown for every several forms in the application not only before the start up form.

Problem2: How to Create and .exe?
Basic Problem: I Have started programming in VB.net today only, I have experience of 2 years in VB6.
In form I have one button which has functionality to pick up some data from (by mouse click) Parent application.
I have handle for parent application handle, but even if i tried to bring it on top i am not able to do selection because form is modal.
Requirement here is open modeless dialog and wait till it close. other wise it goes further and executes functionality below.
Another option can be open form as modal and at runtime change it to modaless.

I have a grid loaded with data. What I wanna do is when you double click on the row header, the data in that row should load into a form with textboxes. I've chosen the RowHeaderMouseDoubleClick as the evnt for this but dunno how to start.

How to use the documentcompleted?
I need to get the url of the webpage the webbrowser is navigating to, but since the code executes faster than the webbrowser navigates to the webpage, it gets the url of the last page. I cant use DocumentComplete Event because i have a tabbed browser,
and i cant write events because im creating tabs(with webbrowsers) at run-time. So how would i check to see if the webbrowser has loaded a document?
How do i do that ? I want to wait until the webbrowser has loaded the document and then add the document text to a textbox... How do I do that ?

But I need to navigate to another page after Logging in to the website How can I wait the first page to be loaded fully then navigate to another page?
Is there a way to launch a Modeless Dialog that stays active even when a Modal Dialog is launched? Can I put the Modeless Dialog in a seperate Thread or something like that?
View 3 RepliesI often use the process of displaying a dialog from a form, with the dialog user input then used to update the main form without any problem. In a new scenerio I launch the main application screen, I then show a login dialog ontop of the main app screen and can launch another dialog from the login if a new user is required. The plan is to update the login dialog (updating a combobox to reflect the addition of a new user) from the new user dialog.
See code below :-
'Update login forms user list as new user added successfully
frmRoomBookingLogin.cboLogin.DataSource = Nothing
frmRoomBookingLogin.txtPassword.Text = "Updating password from dialog"
MessageBox.Show("The password text is " & frmRoomBookingLogin.txtPassword.Text)
[code]....
The messagebox implies the dialog has been updated yet the text does not change. Is it possible to update the dialog when using a setup such as Form -> dialog -> dialog? I'm intrigued as why the dialog does not reflect changes. I have never refreshed/repainted the dialog as never required to in my other examples when updating a form from a dialog and never encountered a problem when using a two tier form setup.
an application i developed using vb 2008 express, to fill a web form with data from an access database, one after another when a button is clicked hasn't given me what i expected. the loop was suposed to stop after filling web form with the first data on clicking a button and continue to fill the webform with the next(2nd) data from the database on clicking the button again. Below is the code i wrote
Private
Sub STARTButton_Click(ByVal
sender As System.Object,

View 2 RepliesI have a problem reading data from an RFID-reader. I connect to the reader by tcp and wait for DataAvailable to be true, then reading the data until I got a end of data character. Then I just go back and waiting for a new DataAvailable. This is done in a own thread for the function.
There seems to be some kind of timeout, If I don't got any data in a couple of minutes, then it just sits there in the do/loop waiting for DataAvailable. I hold the card to the RFID reader, it beeps, but there is no data available. I don't get any exeptions, and the information says that the clientsocket is still connected. Are there anything more I can check?
If I put the card to the reader in a minute-interval it seems as this will never occur. So 2-3 minutes idle:ing seems to do this.
Here are my code to read data from the socket, I have taken away some irrelevant code:
Sub test(ByVal ip As String, ByVal port As Integer)
' this sub is meant to run forever

I have an application that takes a long time processing information on a datagridview. So, I was thinking on a "please wait" dialog, with a progress bar in it.
Problem:
- I want it to behave like a ".showDialog" that prevents users to access the main form.
- But it shouldn't stop the code execution.
I tried to create a new thread to show the dialog, but this way it will not "lock" the main form... I want it to be always on top and focused, while open.
I have a window application develpoed in vs 2008, framework 3.5, in which i have put a button.. Now where i click that button the other text boxes are filled up with the data from database thru web service.. what i want is while all text boxes are being filled i want to show an animated loading gif image till data loading is completed in all the text boxes.. i have tried to use image picture box but while data is loading gif image is displyes but in static mode.. cant see animation... i think this is because data loading and animation both are done thru one UI thread..

How to make the "Im Marco" wait? else it wont typ the first line
I have a .net 4 form application. On a button click event, I want to open a form that has a GIF image in a webbrowser control, that says please wait. Then it opens a second form that has a datagridview that is being populated from a SQL query. Then I just hide the wait form. The reason I have resorted to this method is that sometimes it takes a while to display the results from with datagridview depending on what the user selected previously. The issue that I am having is the wait form displays but the GIF does not show up. If I make the application wait by using the following code the GIF show up like it supposed to until the timer runs out. At that point the image stops moving but is still present.
Private Sub wait(ByVal interval As Integer)
Dim sw As New Stopwatch
sw.Start()
Do While sw.ElapsedMilliseconds < interval
' Allows UI to remain responsive
Application.DoEvents()
Loop
sw.Stop()
End Sub
My original intent was to use the show method to display the results form and then hide the previous form, but sometimes the previous form would close before I could display the results form.
I'm developing a big VB.Net Winforms application. Every now and again, processing or db connections take some time and therefore I'd like a wait cursor (hourglass) to appear sometimes. I know I can do it like in this thread (in case someone needs the code):Hourglass?- technical discussion - developer Fusion - ASP.NET, C# Programming, VB.NET, .NET Framework, Java and Visual Basic Tutorials However, I have LOTS of code and I don't know when the user will need to wait. So, what I'd really want is to tell my ApplicationEvents file or the like to globally intercept after say 0.3 seconds and turn the arrow (default cursor) into the hourglass and at the same time disable mouse clicks and the like.
