I am new to Visual Basic (I currently have VB 2008 Express to play with) and have a question about automating MS Access applications.I have a number of MS access applications that interact with MS Excel, Windows commands and Adobe writer.The applications have multiple forms that require input and/or selection from dropdown list which are repeated for 15 different selections manually.Rather than change the application can I write something in VB to perform the manual process of filling foelds and clicking buttons? e.g. I can open a DB, display a form and then this requires two fields to have a date input, then a new form loads and a dropdown is selected. This is used to generate a report.I can see how to run the report and load forms, but can/how do I update the fields in the form.
how I can reference a report variable in the Report Properties Code Window of a local report? I have tried Variables!Claimant.Value (for a variable called Claimant) but I get an error "Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference." I have tried qualifying it with Report. and also with the report name in front of it but I get errors with this also.I have the variable CLaimant defined in the Variables section of the Report Properties.
I have a form with two listboxes. The user selected the directory using a FolderBrowserDialog1 then my program searches the directory and displays a list of files. They them select the files they want to store under a project name and the names are placed in a database. My problem is it stores the mapped file path not the network path. (ie N:examples estfile.txt I need \myserverexamples estfiles.txt) That is because the person that reads this database may not have their network drives mapped to the same letters.
i added a folder in my project by using the solution explorer. now i want to include a couple of images there that i can use as a default image for my app. in my app i have a picture box which will:show a 'default pic' if the person doesnt have a picture yet. show an 'error pic' if the picture is not found.show the persons image located in the server.

I have a Worker.cs in a ZScreenLib DLL that does the following: 1. takes ZScreenGUI.cs (a Windows Form) as an argument 2. creates a Background Worker object and does everything 3. reports progress to the ZScreenGUI form via BackgroundWorker.ReportProgressThe user can create as many instances as possible of Worker.cs class and do the background worker tasks Now I need to create another Windows form called ZScreenCLI.cs and wish to make use of this Worker.cs class because ZScreenCLI and ZScreenGUI are pretty much the same but ZScreenCLI has much less features compared to ZScreenGUI. My question is, how do you manage to report progress to ZScreenCLI? The ReportProgress methods are tied with the controls in ZScreenGUI form. Obviously there is a problem with the concept I am using
I have a Access program and I'm using VBA code in the background to run Winunzip using shell command. Well, the path of the .zip file has spaces in it and it's not recongizing the path as a valid path. Is there a another way to tackle this problem besides the shell?I can't us pkzip either. I have a simple Windows application, it list all Directories from a specified path in a liestview. My Listview have 2 column. First one show only icons and second one is the name of the Directory. In the below code I load the image to the graphics path using resource image and adding text on it. When I add the image through open file dialog it paints on the form with original size but I need to resize it, add it to the PictureBox, add text to it and give zoom and pan options to it and then I need to save with the original size.
When I resize and when save the image I endi up with a small image.

I want to set the System.Windows.Forms.FolderBrowserDialog to a default path when I load it up. If I set the selectedpath that works but I have to scroll down to that folder to select another one in it.
All I want it to do is start from the passed path; i.e. e:defaultpath ewdocs.

Problem drawing dotted path lines, with even dots along the path line.I want to draw a path line that can be any shape (square, round, outline etc), and along this path line I want even dots to appear.
I also want to be able to resize the shape (as in the example attached)This is very easy to do using "DrawPath" and defining points for the path and using a pen defined as dots.The problem I have is I want the dots to be evenly placed along the path, on any shape or size I draw.In the example I have created, I create a square with 4 points and draw a dotted path.There are 2 buttons that allows me to resize the square (larger or smaller) this helps show the problem more clearly.
The path starts at the top left corner and finishes back at the top left corner, the dots are evenly placed along the path, except the final dots at the end of the path. (Sometimes the dots are even and other times they are not even).The shapes I want to draw can be any size and any shape, but I have used a square in this example to show the problem I have. point me in the direction I need to go that allows me to draw the dots and give the impression that they are even all along the path, for all shapes and sizes.
In the pictures below if you change the size of the shape, one will have even looking dots, the other will not.
I am trying to create a function to convert a mapped drive path to a UNC path. I did some googling and found several different pages on the matter. I am most interested in the first one, but I cannot seem to get the code to cooperate. Since the original post was in C#, here is my VB.NET conversion:
When i pass the parameter and run the report it works fine as i close the form it closes the form is there any way so that i should be able to close the crystal report viewer and pass the parameter again and should be able to view report again.
I got a problem I want to print a report which is receipt having size 3 x 4 cm. i am unable to resize crystal report. i am using crystal report coming with visual studio.net 2008.
I created a button instead of the print button in crystal report because i need to record the report printed report serial number, date and time to the database. when i click on the button, dialog box appear. if i click on the ok button , system record the printed report details to the database and report printed successfully. but when i click on the cancel button , system again recording the printed report record.
I have created an application using vb.net 2008 and for reports Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 but the problem is, when I run the application in another machine away from developing box, I get the Load report failed notice. I don't have any idea on how I should approach this issue. I tried installing the CRRedist2008_x86 and CRRedist2005_x86 but still the problem won't go away.
I'm having a problem with my crystal report with regards to report footer. I want to display the data from the table, column name "Remarks" in report footer but when I try to call the data it doesn't show the remarks. I'm using VB 6 and mdb files as my back end. Is there any command or fundamental that I've missed?
i have tride to generate report by using in built functions of report viewer. but it disply only the default color in to the legend. in my report i am showing chart report by using student marks and their name. the chrt bar color get changed as per the students marks means if student is pass then the the report bar display with green if failed then with red color i want to show the legend with student pass and fail status but on my x axis i have given a only a marks column value and it s showing only marks lable in legend but i want to show it with their status means pass with green color and fail with red color if anybody have the answer of this query plz reply immediatly
