We are creating a Chat Application for our chatnetwork, we originally made it in VB6 works like a beauty and converting to VB.NET At the moment, it joins the channel fine, nothing wrong with this displays everything it needs to however we are in the process of showing emoticons. While we were on XP in debug mode and release mode, the emoticons showed.Once we moved the compiled version over to Vista Home and Ulitmate the emoticons would not show, we have looked and looked all over google and have not come to a conclusion, today we even moved the whole Project folder over to Vista, ran it in debug mode, and the images still wouldn't show in the RTB. Works fine in XP but not Vista?

how to get my vb6 exe to run in any win7 or Vista? The error I'm getting is: Component comdlg32.ocx or one of it's components is not correctly registered or missing. I've tried using the P&D Wizard to specifiy loading it into the SysWOW64 folder but I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly. I use the P&D Wizard then load everything into Inno for delivery but my customers who now have Win7 or Vista can't use my product.
I made a bluring tool of some sort and you basicly drag an area of yuor picture and it blurs that certain selected elipsis.. the problem is THis only works on Winsows 7 Im trying to understand the diffrence but I can't. The PC uses the same graphic card same hardware just a diffrent OS but it wont do that Code. Anyways here is how I blur
Private m_ActiveControl As Point Private m_CurrentPoint As Point Private ileft As Integer
my goal is to control the incoming and outgoing packets to a game server, to alert when a game round finishes the main code is this:
Private Buffer(65535) As Byte Private RawSocket As Socket Public Event PacketReceived(ByVal PacketBuffer() As Byte)
[code]....
this code works perfectly with XP (you can read both incoming and outgoing packets to the game server)... with Vista the same code displays ONLY the incoming packets....
I have written a console app in <acronym title="Visual Basic">vb</acronym> .net 2003 to capture audio data (albeit not for an audio application) using the WinMM API. This works well in XP and also on my own Vista PC. However when others try to use in on Vista or Win7 it stops working after about 10 - 30 seconds (so it manages to initiate recording from the default input device but eventually stops). The only error given is "Program has stopped working". I am wondering if this is related to the way I recycle the input buffers?
ok, so i've built an application that iterates through some folders that i specified and adds any image files to a datagridview Image Columnhowever, .ico files pose an issue: ones that were specifically designed for WinVista Throw an Exception:"Paramater Not Specified"
I have a customer who is using a VB Script to create one swbemrefresher object which works normally on Win XP and Win2003 platform, but on Windows Vista platform prompts with "invalid class" error...
i compile my form with the below code when i run it on vista work fine without any problem but when i try to run in on XP cant run... that happened with any XP machine.[code]when i run my exe to other Vista machines work fine... but on xp NO.
i am creating a web browser using microsoft vb.net 2008 and i want to save all images only displaying on any web page in my browser. i have added check box to save images. browser.PNG when i click on check box , the browser will prompt to save only images files on web page.
I have a Windows Forms which contains a whole bunch of different text items on TextBoxes, Labels, and ComboBoxes. I then catalog what is written in these Textboxes and selected in these ComboBoxes in XML files so that they can be reopened later. Because what goes into the Textboxes and ComboBoxes are physical quantities, they have units (for examples "Inches," or "Lbs," etc.) which are the text of the Labels themselves. Multiple quantities share similar units, so I don't allow the user to change each one individually, but instead change a unit globally (for example, all weights in "Kilogram" instead of "Lb").
The units themselves are Public Properties of a separate class which I named "MyDBClass". The properties raise events when they are Set, so that objects data-bound to them change as well. When I initialize the main Windows form, I instantiate a class of type "MyDBClass," set all the unit defaults ("LengthShort = mm," etc.), and create a databinding for the Labels to the "MyDBClass" properties (e.g. ctrl.DataBindings.Add("Text", MyDBClass, "LengthS") ). From then on, the only way the user can change the units is to use my MenuStrip and select "New" (which erases all text and sets the MyDBClass properties back to default), use the MenuStrip and select "Open" (which opens an XML file, reads the "Unit" elements in, and uses them to set the MYDBClass properties), or use the MenuStrip and select "Change Units" (which brings up a dialog with a handful of ComboBoxes containing possible units, and then sets the properties of the MyDBClass based on what the user selected in the dialog).
Having said ALL of that, I can finally get to the problem- one of my units ("SpringRate") does not change when the user selects "New" or "Change Units" from the MenuStrip. It will only change when the user opens an XML file. This makes no sense, as the act of opening an XML file calls the exact same code as selecting "New" from the MenuStrip (which is that is sets the properties of the MyDBClass). The label is also identical to its surrounding labels and the ComboBox which selects the unit is identical to its surrounding ComboBoxes (I tend to use Copy/Paste when working in Design mode). I even put Try->Catch blocks around the Property's Set code and the code inside the other Subs which calls it.
[Code] When I run this on my visual studio 2008 dev server it runs fine and works well. When I publish to IIS I always get Http 403 Forbidden Errors when trying to access any page on the site. There is 1 folder within my site that should be login protected called 'administration'.
I need my application to appear on top of the desktop (and vista sidebar if possible) but under every other application that is opened. It is basically a replacement desktop in a way.
I am using a monthcalendar control and datetimepicker control in my vb.net 2005 windows applicaion. My operating system is Vista Home Premium. Now my problem is that when I run my application on XP then the view of monthcalendar control changes. I just want that the view of mc control remain same in xp also bcoz the look of mc control in vista is quite cool.
Is there a way to drag and drop items like vista where it creates a "ghost" of the icon and text at the cursor position? Like a slightly transparent copy of the item being dragged with the mouse until it is dropped?
my application has "picked up" the old style button design. In Vista the buttons have a slight shadow / 3d effect, however, my application appears not be using the default style and instead applying the older XP, Win98 typ appearance. At first it didnt bother me, however, not its annoying and rather than rip all my code out and apply it to a new project, i would prefer to remove the offending code call.
Its a long shot, but i thought i would see if anyone here knew what might be causing it?
I have an app that opens and closes several other forms. How can I stop the fade in out of the forms when they are opened/closed in used in Vista/7? It just gets annoying.
XP WEBBROWSER-CONTROL: brings up PDF embedded in webbrowser control, as desired.XP IE7: Behaves the same if you manually navigate to URL, as desired.VISTA WEBBROWSER-CONTROL: brings up PDF by separately launching Acrobat, won't embed in webbrowser control. Not desired.Vista IE7: embeds PDF properly if you navigate to same URL, as desired.I am using Acrobat 9, where there is a preference setting under Internet to bring up PDF embedded in browser -- works fine directly in IE7, but not in webbrowser control.
Presently, i am using a picture box and import the picture through same on Visual Studio 2008. These pictures all work fine and are dumb with no activity (i.e. border, background, logo etc.) and only act to pretty up the form. The only thing is that if you click on them a border appear around the image as if it was a button etc.
I am been working on an a small app that has a Forms.Webbrowser control that navigates to a Adobe Flash program. I have developed the app on Vista 32bit platform and have had no problems. I have sent the app to a couple of people to test out and one is using Vista 64bit and is running into a problem. I know the webbrowser control just uses the underlying base framework of IE. The problem on the 64 bit machine is when the site is navigated to it says that it needs to have Flash installed. When the user goes to Adobe's site it says they need to use a 32bit browser.
As stated on Adobe site here:[URL] the Flash player need to be in a 32 bit browser. What options do I have to be able fix this problem? Is there another control that I can use that would be the same in a 32bit platform and 64bit platform? Besides navigating to the Flash program, the browser also goes to standard web pages.
i am developing a imageviewer like the one windows xp has. one thing i dont know how to do is: how do i display a big image(bigger then the screen) in a picturebox with bars on the left and the buttom side? like the imageviewer of windows xp does when you want to watch big images in full size.
I've looked in a few places but haven't had much luck in finding what I'm after. So I have a picturebox on my windows form and it has an image set to it, I also have a bunch of reference files that reference to a bunch of images.
Me.PictureBox1.Image = My.Resources.imgs.image1 That piece of code works.
Now, I tried to databind the picture box to a database so the images would load on the change of a combo box but that got confusing really fast so what I did was created a database and it holds all the image references such as "My.Resources.imgs.image1" but its stored as type varchar(50).
Connecting to the database and retreiving the strings is no problem, that works all fine. The problem is converting the string to the image reference, it doesn't work. I've tried type casting, I tried using imagelocation rather than image but I want to reference to the resources that is attached to the project.
I'm trying to create a program that checks if someone is going to Happy Hour, if not, it lists those who aren't, and puts their picture next to their name.I'm able to achieve all but get the images locally and store them in an array (which would be added to pictureArray(i))You can see the commented out sections are where I've tried to get the images...
