Jun 30, 2009We are creating a Chat Application for our chatnetwork, we originally made it in VB6 works like a beauty and converting to VB.NET At the moment, it joins the channel fine, nothing wrong with this displays everything it needs to however we are in the process of showing emoticons.While we were on XP in debug mode and release mode, the emoticons showed... Once we moved the compiled version over to Vista Home and Ulitmate the emoticons would not show, we have looked and looked all over google and have not come to a conclusion, today we even moved the whole Project folder over to Vista, ran it in debug mode, and the images still wouldn't show in the RTB. Aug 25, 2011Overreaching amateur developer that is outsourcing some of my work and doing part of it as well. I've been working on a dictionary/ thesaurus / spell check & suggestion application that I am trying to get to work on all applications within the windows environment.
I've used hooking to get key stokes and show output as the person is typing for definitions and spelling suggestions. This isn't accomplishing everything I want. Works fine for spell checking and suggestions but to click on a word that already exists or for touch screen interfaces to touch a word it doesn't work.
I was reading the Raw Input API on MSDN and thought that would work but my developer that I've hired is advising me that the RAW input's scope is only on the window that has focus and so cannot do low level hooking. I'm considering giving the effort but wanted a 2nd third fourth perspective prior to making the effort.[URL]
Taking Pictures With Webcam Via Webcam Button?
Mar 28, 2012I have a logitech webcam that I use to take pictures of customers to submit to a server/database. Utilizing AVICAP32.DLL calls, I was able to modify my VB.NET program to take these pictures via a button in my program.
My question is, it would me more convenient to my intended users to click the webcam button, instead of clicking on the button in my program.
Is this possible to do in VB.NET? and how can I do this?
If this is not possible to do with my logitech webcam than is there a Microsoft Webcam that can do this?

Allowing Scalable Images In Restore Down Window Mode?
May 23, 2011I designed my program for my screen resolution (1680x1050) with all forms in maximized mode. I gave the program to a freind whose laptop has a lower screen resolution than mine. Now on a lot of the forms she cannot see some of the controls because of the lower screen resolution. I added the minimize, restore down and close buttons to the forms of my program but in the restore down mode the form does not scale down to show all the controls on the form. How can I incorporate scalabilty into the forms so that all the controls will be visible in the restore down mode.

Jan 28, 2009I am starting to develop a card game client for a CCG a friend of mine and I are creating.
I have 2 forms Client.vb and Hand.vb linked with a module.vb
In essence when the app starts up I see the client. I can then click the "Hand" button and the Hand Window is shown as well.
What my goal is is to have it so that when i hover over the card (picturebox) in my hand form that it displays a larger image of that card in the preview box (Another picture box) In Client.vb
I have everything working except when i actually mouse over the image in the hand form it creates an error:

Form.Webbrowser Control Different Between Vista 32bit And Vista 64bit?
Oct 11, 2009I am been working on an a small app that has a Forms.Webbrowser control that navigates to a Adobe Flash program. I have developed the app on Vista 32bit platform and have had no problems. I have sent the app to a couple of people to test out and one is using Vista 64bit and is running into a problem. I know the webbrowser control just uses the underlying base framework of IE. The problem on the 64 bit machine is when the site is navigated to it says that it needs to have Flash installed. When the user goes to Adobe's site it says they need to use a 32bit browser.
As stated on Adobe site here:[URL] the Flash player need to be in a 32 bit browser. What options do I have to be able fix this problem? Is there another control that I can use that would be the same in a 32bit platform and 64bit platform? Besides navigating to the Flash program, the browser also goes to standard web pages.
Monitoring 12 Video Feeds From Video Cameras - NEXT Or FORWARD Button On My Monitor Form
Dec 24, 2009I am monitoring 12 video feeds from video cameras. Now I have more than 12 cameras, I have 134. But I will only monitor 12 cameras at a time. By Monitoring I mean, I have 12 small video screens on the form that I can see the video. The way I know which cameras are active, so I can monitor them is by a boolean value in a sql database. I run a Store Procedure in my program, and spit out the results in a XML file. I then read the XML file in a loop. This XML file will have a list of the camera names I need to monitor.
So that is for 12 video feeds. Now, I want to have a NEXT or FORWARD button on my monitor form. So when I click this it will give me the next group of cameras, 13 to 24. Now if I only have15 cameras that are active, that means the first group is 1 to 12, then the second group is 13 to 15 cameras. So I will only have 3 to monitor on the second grouping. One thought I had was to have another field in my table to mark as already as an active monitor, so when I run the SP, i will not select that row. But I need to select 12 at a time. Or I can make a number of xml files, one xml file for each grouping of 12, but I need to figure out how I can select the next group without re-selecting the first group. I have no code at the moment, I'm on my non-programming computer.

It has to deal with LOTS of images (100's potentially) There will be the set of default images, and then the user created replacement images. I started loading all the defaults into a resx file... thinking then I could just pull them out. now that I started setting the default, this sucks! lol the app will do this, on load it will set all the images (variables) to the resx images then when a theme is loaded, it will replace the default with the user image (if the user img exists) otherwise, the default stays. Then the "screen" is drawn to show the user. so, here is just the images to build the wallpaper, dock, and status bar...
