I am trying to an Internet Cafe Management program, I have created a form with a start button for users to click, it starts the timers, and then a Finish button which clears the timers and brings the start button back up. That is as far as I have gotten.
What I am stuck on, is I want the timers and finish button to be constantly visible on their screen (Never behind any other windows they have open) and I also need to create the server application which when the finish button is pressed it sends the time to the server application and also calculates the price to charge the customer.
I preferably dont want to be given some source code to download and use that, I am wanting to make this as a learning experience for me.

I want to create a simple client server with GUI to control my little internet cafe in my house.My Question :
1. Where I can get some tutorial to control another computer with my server application
2. Where I can get some tutorial to control bandwidth usage (if can or available)
Honestly, for number one question, I want to block or control user for opening Porn site or Download with download manager that take too much bandwidth so it's affect another user connect too slowlyJust it for billing timing, pricing or another like that I can to program it, but for controling I still didn't understand.

im trying to do is countdown timer.already done with the start time and stop time but when it comes to the pause time and resume cant seem to make it work, what i did was put on the event click on my pause button was add a timer1.enabled = false and on the resume button timer1.enabled true, it does it job pausing the running time, but when i resume for example, i pause at a time of 05:30 for 9 seconds then resume the timer resumes at 5:21, (im making a countdown timer here) ,what i want to happen is that, when i resume, it will resume from 5:31 then continue counting down to 5:30,5:29 .

In my timer like the time they use in computer shop and when the player is already time out it will alert...the idea like this if the player start 3:00:00 then it will appear in the textbox for the time - in and in the time - out textbox the time is decreasing until 0:05:00 and it will alert using message.box.Show("Computer 2 is 5 mins before time end") and also for the payment textbox in every 15 mins it will addition payment for example 10.00....i need the source code or idea to create this..

I want to write an app which would automatically fill an internet form with different inputs, depending on its own input.The thing is, I have no idea how the VB-Web interface works. I have seen the inet controller, but the only use of it I've seen is retrieval of the data on the web page. What I actually need is:
a. VB to open a certain web page.
b. VB to choose an option from a drop-down list.
c. The page will change to another page (depending on the choice in b).
d. VB to fill a form consisting of drop-down lists, text boxes etc. After each of the fields is filled, the page refreshes itself.
e. After all fields are filled, VB should click on a link which would open a different part of the form.Follow steps d+e a couple more times, and then submit the form by clicking a certain button.

I am trying to programmatically post to a textbox on a web form in IE - I have tried sendkeys - but I dont find them reliable or consistent - The code below is perfect - but only seems to work in a webbrowser control. How do I (click a button/select a radiobutton) send 'hello world' to a textbox on a webform in IE? By the way I would be happy to use the webbrowser control (so the code below would work) - but the webpage (which is not the one in the code below) runs locally on my machine (I dont have any control over it) and does not seem to work within a webbrowser control. I want to create an application for cyber cafe which I thought should be as follows :-
1. My app starts with windows and is hidden in the system tray.
2. When IE starts my app gives a popup that your time has started at "Whatever the time at the moment would be".
3. When user closes its time is calculated in a Msgbox.
The problem is how to check if the users opens another IE window while working and add the bill to the same user. To reset the timer when i.e., is closed by first user and second user starts operating. How to start the app with windows and that too in system tray.

I am developing a application where a url is supposed to be passed to Internet Explorer using a search button. But if more than one url passes it should open in same instance. I dont want new instance to be opened every time. I am using SHDocVw.dll for the same. I have coded for opening a new IE instance and URL is getting passed successfully. But meanwhile if I close that open IE then I get exception and my program dont work.

When I make an application using an HTTPWebRequest to connect to the internet, the GUI freezes whenever it's doing something. When I run the WebRequest on another thread, it still freezes a bit. Is there a way to completely stop the freezing?

I've been looking for a way to do this for like two days now, and no luck.
What I want to do is get into the temporary internet files, find a certain file....
(^^^ I can do that just fine (using specialfolders, etc) ^^^)
and get the internet address associated with it.

we have our system running but our system needs to be modified because we did something wrong...we are doing an "Internet monitoring System" in our school library where the user can only access the internet 1hr a day, and he/she cannot use the internet within that day if he couldn't buy a time on a serve...every students should only have 20hrs time usage per semester...our problem is every day their 20hrs is being reduced in 1hr.. the rule is the time per semester which is 20hrs that is given to the students was reduced 1hr only if he uses the internet..but our system is reducing their 1hr every day.

I am using VB Express 2008, and I'm experimenting with querying WMI. I have tried the code samples from MSDN, but they do not compile. Here is an example of code that my IDE doesn't like:

In this case, SelectQuery and ManagementObjectSearcher are underlined with squiggly blue, and it doesn't know what these are. What am I missing here? Please help, because I'd love to be able to write console apps that query WMI.

I am using vb 2005 and need help with trying to do the following :A Form that has a combo box , a listview and 2 command buttons( When the form loads ) i need the combo box to be enumerated with the printers that are on my server ( so will need to connect to my server which is obviously a remote machine ).Then when ever I select a printer from the combo box, it enumerates the listview with any print jobs that are in that printers que and I am able to select either one or multiple print jobs and click on the cancel print job button ( which will cancel any selected print jobs ) or click the cancel all button which will just delete any print jobs in that printers que.I know this is a lot to ask but even if I could just get an example of how to enumerate the printers into the combobox and get the listview to display the print jobs ( If any exist ) for that specific printer.That would be great.

Coming from more low-level languages like C++, and seeing how transparent .NET memory management is, I've got a concert about a piece a line of code I've written. I'm trying to write some code that can read events from another computer's event log. I haven't used WMI or System.Management all that much before this, and despite all the examples I've found on the web (there's a lot), I cannot authenticate to another machine.
No matter how I tweak the code, I always receive a System.UnauthorizedAccessException in System.Management.dll. (The message is "Access is denied. I've been trying to develop a VB application which retrieves a lot of information from an XML file on our secure intranet. So far I've been using...

Where username and password are predefined. What I need is a way of utilising the Windows credential manager to handle this. Ideally, I like it to pop up a credential prompt at application start, and then store the credentials for later use. So far so easy, but I want to be able to use the tick box to save the credentials back to the store, so taht next time the application is used, they are already filled in.
So far I've been investigating the CredentialsDemo from MSDN, but have been unable to adapt the routines to a web request from the given example of a SQL request. In fact I've not even been able to get the demo working adapting it to my own SQL server!It utilises the CredUIPromptForCredentials function. Is this the right way to go? Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

I am looking to make an application where panels might seem to be very heavily used. Is it recommended not to use them for large item management?For instance, I want to have a menu with flat style button. When clicked on, they will hide all other menu panels and show the options for that buttons clicked. From there, for each option clicked, it will display a panel on the right with various results for the specific criteria selected.
