Forms :: ListBox With Two Columns - Sum Up For Grand Total
Jun 8, 2009
I have managed a listbox with two columns (the items and their quantities). I am trying to sum up all the qtys together for a grand total, but cannot manage. I tried with listviewitem.contains and listviewitem. items. Now I'm lost.
I have four forms only. The first one is the main menu, that contains three buttons, the first and second buttons go to form2 and form3;Button 3 should open a new form (4) and to write there just the total price.
In Form2: DataGrideView that contains a table made by MS Access 2007. That table contains only two columns and three rows. When you select the item, the price of that item should be saved to be added to the other selected items
In Form3: ComboBox that contains another table also made by Access2007. The same thing, the table contains two columns and the selected item has a price that should be summed with the first selection in Form2.
My Questions are:
1. What I did by adding data from MSAccess2007, is it right?First: View -> server explorer -> Browse(my database) -> Test Connection --> OK ...Second: Data Sources --> Add new database --> etc Third: I dragged one table and put it inside Form2, then the another table to Form3.Is that all right? <--- This is my first question.
2. Now, is, what I have done in step 1, enough to pick up the price of the selected item(s)?if not, what is the code that I have to write to make this connection, and where?
3. As I said, when I click on Button3 in Form1, Form4 should appear and give me the grand total. How I can write a code that makes this summation, and where?
i have a list of 5 names and 5 amounts contributed saved on a text file called:
"G:mailinglist.txt"
Iv created a button and a textbox beside it. Basically i just want to be able to select the button and the values from the text file are added to display a grand total into the textbox.
The values are:
34 70 20 12.50 9 20
I would also like to have the text box display the grand total in Pounds () but again i do not know how to.
I am having trouble trying to add the grand total arrays of number of passengers and the total cost into the list box...the way I have it right now it says for each city whatever the amount that was chosen in the combo box last and same thing with the price. I am thinking you have to use a loop of some kind to sort through all the cities and add them up individually.
Option Strict On Public Class Form1 Dim decCostPrice As Decimal Dim intNumbOfPassengers As Integer Dim decFinalCost() As Decimal Dim intFinalPassengers() As Decimal [Code] .....

every time i select an item from the listbox (just 1 at a time), it'll add that item's price to the total. but for some reason it's not doing it. can someone check out my code and see what's wrong with it? i'm getting the item price as the total (what I want it to do is add onto the total)
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim total, grandtotal As Decimal If lbSelect.SelectedIndex = 0 Then total = 10

Before I begin, want to say this is my first post and I am a newbie. My first time using VB. How can I add values in a listbox that were entered by a user to another textbox in total? For ExampleSay my code for now is this.

I'm have successfully did a shortcut "+" and "-" button to increase and decrease the qty ordered. But by doing so, i now have problem tabulating the cost for each item. Below is the print screen for my application. You will realised that the Lamb tandoori which is going for $3 cost only $21 after increasing the quantity ordered using the "+" button. In addition, i have created different list boxes for different food categories. Each category's food items is selling at the same price.

Option Strict Off Public Class Form1 Dim BoxValueCollection As New Collection[code].......
I am having an issue with trying to calculate a running total from items in a listbox. I am getting an InvalidCastException with the btnCalc_Click event. I think I understand why I am getting this exception, just not sure exactly how I fix it.
I need to have the lblTotalCost display the Grand Total of all the workshop totals. Ca anyone point me in the right direction here, I have been struggling with this part for about 2 weeks.[code...]
Ive got a Listbox which displays a data/record from a SQL database, it displays "Amount" and only numbers would appear. it has a datasource.
Goal: I'd Like to get the total sum of those numbers from the Listbox and Display it to a textbox automatically or by button click event.
I thought of two ways to do this, but I don't have a clue on what to do.
1. I tried summing it all up on that exact Listbox and display the total on the textbox, here's the code that i came up with..
[CODE]...........
But the data im working with is from a database, so i got this error:Conversion from type 'DataRowView' to type 'Double' is not valid.
2. I thought of having another Listbox and "Copy" the contents shown on the Listbox1 and then sum it all up on the Listbox2, then lastly display the Total on the Textbox. I did a little research on how to accomplish that but all the clue i found is that i have to disconnect the listbox data from the datasource from being bound, and reconnect it again.. I really don't have any idea on how i could do that with an SQL database.
Here's a quick flow on what im trying to accomplish to make things.
Record from Database -----Displays on---> Listbox1 -----User Clicks--> Button1 ----Displays Total sum on----> Textbox1
I dont know how to get the program to do the total calculation after i delete an item from the listbox. Basically i have 2 forms. One is the shopping item list and the other is the shopping cart.
Here is my codes:
Public Class Form1 Public totalBuy As Single Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
I know how to get Total, Average, Highest and Lower number from using input boxes and so on, but how do you get them from within a listbox?I kno the format of the code, I'm just lost in how to get them from a listbox...I just need a few hints.
How do I code the total cost to give me a pound sign with the total cost at the moment when the total comes up for an example it gives me 3.6 when I need it to show £3.60 here is the code I have so far. [code]
I am trying to create a textbox that will display the total duration of all video files in a listbox. I am not using the windows media player in the project, I just want to show total duration of the listbox items. I have tried looking for snippets because I'm new to programming and I have also tried my luck at creating a class with no success. If anyone could show me some sample code or tell me what it will take to accomplish my goal it would be greatly apperciated. I am coding with Visual Basic 2010 express.
I'm just getting back into programming after a few years break and I'm a little clueless as to how I would achieve a small part of a project to get my back into the swing of things.Basically we have a command that sets what the machine does at a certain time of the day. This command has a limit of 8 steps and always has to equal 1440 (24hrs).An example of this command would be: 001*A*480*B*60*C*600*A*300
So this would do.. "A" during 00:00-08:00 "B" till 09:00 "C" till 19:00 "A" till 24:00
I can do the easy part i.e. split them up but I would like someway of dynamically creating another text box if they dont add up to 1440 (I am okay with doing dynamic text boxes and have the findcontrol stuff i guess its just updating the x and y axis on the boxes below so it looks neat?)
I could do 8 textboxes etc but we can have upto 8 of these commands wanting to display on one tab.
How to fill a listbox with data from a SQL (OLEDB) so that you can see one row of data with various columns to show the different values for that row,ie. all of the SQL statement as one row.[code]...
I want to make a listbox with to columns on it and they both have titles. If you look at the Mozilla Firefox bookmarks window i want it to be like that.
I've got a question about Listboxes in Visual Basic 2008 Express. I have a fair bit of experience with Office (both 2003 and 2007) and use the listbox in office all the time. The thing I like most about it is the ability to set the number of columns so I can have a string for the user to see and a second column of 0 width that holds my ref number.
So when I needed to do the same thing in VB 2008 Express I grabed the Listbox control and.....hit a brick wall. As far as I can find out from the help files and searching the web the Listbox control only shows one column really. Ok so it might wrap to a second column to save the user having to scroll but its still basically one column. There seems to be no way of having something like in Office.
I know I have no code, but I don't have any code for this. I'm just asking in case I'm missing a control or something obvious. Hell at this point I'm almost tempted to create my own Listbox control that acts the way I need but thought I'd ask before heading down that route.
