I'm making a hangman game right now, and the way it works is: It takes ten words from a text file and puts them in an array.It's supposed to take one of those words randomly and change all the letters to asterisks and display it in a text box for the user to start playing.I'm currently having trouble with converting the whole word into the right amount of asterisks to display.As you can see, I've already started trying something with a for next loop to go through the word and replace each letter with asterisks.But I'm not sure of the exact 'wording' of it.

I have vb.net 2003. I have to output a pyramid of asterisks of six lines, 10 times (vertically). But the catch is that I have to use a loop. MsgBox("*" & vbCrLf & "* *" & vbCrLf & "* * *" & vbCrLf & "* * * *" & vbCrLf & "* * * * *" & vbCrLf & "* * * * * *") would give me one block of pyramid but how would I get a message box to display 10 of these at the same time? I'm pretty sure a nested loop would work but I've tried for hours and I can't get it to work.

Alright well i am creating a basic program, it has a login system. When the user clicks login i have timer1.start and then i have a progress bar start to fill, i want to know how to take a label, place it under the progress bar and have it display different text, as in
First message: Validating Login Credentials... (moving ... if possible)
Second message: Verifying System integrity... (moving ... if possible)
Third Message: Connecting to Servers... (moving ... if possible)
Fourth Message: Grabbing user Database... (moving ... if possible)

I want the messages to be in sync with the loading bar, but i also want to try to make my loading bar move slower and when the progress bar is finished and the messages underneath it are aswell i want it to show a new form.

The only problem is, they're "in beta" and aren't readily accepting users. Is there a workaround for this, maybe receiving an email via text (kind of like how TwitPic does it?) somehow and parsing it?

Is the problem that I need to show "credentials" (i.e. user/pass)? If so, what would those credentials be? Can I use my yahoo email SMTP server with my login info to do it? And is this all I'd need to add to add the credentials?

i have an assignemnt in my visual basic express 2008 class, were i have to type in an image name, like paris.jpeg,and automatically manipulate the file to be called paris-steg.png. Once this happens i click the manipulate image button and the image should be altered so that paris-steg.png has a message hidden in it. Then i have to decode that message. At this point im having troubel getting the file name to automatically appear as paris-steg.jpeg, and you will proabbly see why with my code. I need to know how to do this. The way i have it, i basiaclly add -steg.png onto the text typed into the text box, this doesnt work when the user types in paris.jpeg as it comes out as paris.jpeg-steg.png. heres the instructiosn and my code

Need to design a program that can encrypt and decrypt messages stored in simple text files using a private key stored in a separate file. Software should also be able to allow the users to enter simple messages that either displays the encrypted or decrypted message. The encryption method should use a simple substitution method. View 1 RepliesI have read the MSDN Page on how to suppress messages. I am unable to supress warnings for VS2008. [code] The problem was I had a series of parallel tasks that were dependent on check boxes. I wanted each task to to run simultaneously and then join back. I overcame the warning by using a callback method that decremented until all the call backs completed. [code] The warning was an Uninitialized Variable. Which was not the case as it was dependent on identical if-statements. I opted to use a callback method instead, which turned out to be a better alternative and did not lock up the GUI.
