Get Screen Location Of RowHeader Cell In DataGridView
Apr 9, 2012
I have several DataGridView's that are located in several different containers. I want to display a small form in a precise location relative to the RowHeader when the user's mouse moves over the row header of the datagridview. How can I get the screen coordinates of the RowHeader? The code below does not display the form in the proper location. I want the top-left corner of the form to be displayed 15 points to the right of the Right property and 15 points below the Bottom property of the RowHeader.

I have a context menu which is shown over a DataGridView as follows below. The Context menu is shown if the mouse up occurs over the second column of the DataGridView. I also have a bunch of event handlers set up for each item in the context menu. I now want to pass the location of the cell in the datagridview to the event handlers.Do I have to pass the NewPoint() to a public variable and then translate that into a cell location within the event handler?
Private Sub DataGridView14_MouseUp(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As MouseEventArgs) Handles DataGridView14.MouseUp
Dim hitTestInfo As DataGridView.HitTestInfo

As I have no idea on how to retrieve access data at the specific location in the table, so I wrote VBA code t export the entire access database to a datagridview which is located in the form1. There's a column of datagridview contain complete address information of a image. I'm thinking a way to link image source (of form 2 or xaml file) to the the column so that the image will be displayed. is there any code to get cell value at the specific location in the table? In excel VBA, sheets("Sheetname").Cells(rownumber, columnnumber).value is used to get the cell value, but how about code for this case?

How to programmatically change foreground color and make bold text in individual cell location on DataGridView control (Visual Basic)?
I use "dgMatrix.Rows(r).Cells(c).Value = x" to assign individual numeric values to individual cells in a DataGridView control. My question; is there a similar way to change foreground color and make bold the text in this cell, by specifying the individual row/column cell location?
For example; for cell (row 3, col 5) in the DataGridView make text in cell say red and bold or blue and bold so as to highlight and distinguish individual cell contents. As needed, I will also need to reset these properties (foreground back to automatic/black and font from bold back to regular); the reset could be done globally to the whole DataGridView as opposed to indiviaually by cell.

I want to know if VB.Net already has a control like this before I start wasting time building my own. I have a DataGridView that shows the row error symbol in the RowHeader if the update to the database is unsuccessful for that row. Currently, if you hover the mouse over the error icon it will show a default tool tip to display the error text.I would like the user to left-click the RowHeader and a small popup window will show the error text. Then when the user clicks somewhere other than the popup window it will disappear just like a context menu. do I need to build a form with no borders that has a large textbox in it, then setup an event so when the form loses focus it closes? Or does a context menu strip have the ability to support a large textbox? Or do I use a splash screen?

Have this code so that when a checkbox in a column of my datagridview is checked, then the corresponding cell in column 2 (of the same row the check box is in) will turn blue with font color white.
[code]...
I'd also like to add a line so that as well as the cell going blue, the bottom border of the cell disappears, so cellborderstyle = none.

I have a DataGridView with several columns. One column is a TextBox column named "Status". This column can only show one of three values: 'Final', 'Ready', or 'No Reportable'. I want to have some code that would turn the TextBox cell into a ComboBox cell when the user left-clicks on the cell to allow the user to choose one of these three options. When the user clicks elsewhere or the cell loses focus I want the cell to change back to a TextBox cell.
Here is what I have so far, but the code throws an exception indicated below Plus, I don't think the code would remove the combobox when the cell loses focus.
Exception: "Provided cell does not belong to this DataGridView control."
Private Sub dgvCalculatedResults_MouseDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles dgvCalculatedResults.MouseDown
Dim ht As DataGridView.HitTestInfo = Me.dgvCalculatedResults.HitTest(e.X, e.Y)

For those who have programs such as Skype, you may already be familiar with this action. Basically Skype and some other programs have a feature where when you move the form near the screen boundaries it jumps and "locks" into position into the corner of
the screen. To my understanding, Windows 7 seems to have this feature, but it is not as jumpy as Skype is. It seems you have to be within 20 pixels or so for it to work with Windows whereas Skype seems to work if you are near the corner. How would I go about moving the form near the corner and automatically relocating the form to that corner? For example, if I placed my program near the top left corner, how would I relocate the form to (0, 0)?

I have a picturebox (pbRows) that I want to always be aligned with the right side of the screen. The form may be wider than this (I have a horizontal scrollbar), but the picturebox always needs to be along the right edge of the screen. Currently I have this code snippet in the form_load subroutine:
Dim rowsX As New Integer rowsX = Screen.PrimaryScreen.Bounds.Width - pbRows.Width pbRows.Location = New Point(rowsX, 25) However, the picturebox is aligned with the right edge of the form (initially hidden off the screen). Am I missing something obvious?

How do I get the screen coordinates of a DataGridViewCell? It seems that GetCellDisplayRectangle get the coords relative to the upper-left corner of the DGV & not the screen. I'm trying to display a small popup form next to a DGV cell that is clicked. I can get the actual cell object with Dim cell As DataGridViewCell = DataGridView1.Rows(e.RowIndex).Cells(e.ColumnIndex), but I need to get the coords of that cell to set the location of the popup form.

I have a datagridview and it has 8 columns as textboxcolumns. I am handling their cell validation with cellValidating event.
My question is that if cell validation fails for 3rd column of the datagridview then the focus should move from 3rd column to 1st column of the datagridview. How can i do this?
I have tried datagridview.column(0).selected = true, when validation for 3rd column fails, but this is not working. Focus still moves to the next cell. I can stop the focus to the current cell with e.cancel=true but i want it to move to the very first cell of the datagridview.

1. Just looking for some general help on how to auto update my application via a file location path (e.g. I have a HTML file containing the current file version and the .exe file to download)
What I need is to read in the HTML file version - DONE Check file version vs HTML file stream input - DONE Replace current .exe file with new .exe file - HAVING ISSUES WITH THIS
I know I have to close the application and then replace the old exe file with the new exe file then restart the application but looking for the best/safest way this can be done

is there a way of getting the screen coordinates of individual cells on an open Excel sheet, what I want to ultimately do is pass in a cell range say, "A5" into a function and watch the mouse cursor move slowly to that cell. I know this might seem a weird request. I already have a mouse move function but that accepts the x/y coords in pixel terms where excel using .TOP and .LEFT give an entirely different format?
