When you set a region equal to another, or set it equal to a new instance, do you have to call dispose on the region, or does VB do that? (I guess this isn't necessarily specific to regions)
ex:
'at some point in the code a region is created
Dim Rgn as New Region(SomeRect)
'....
[Code].....
If Rgn now points to the Rgns(0) clone, what happens to the original memory created by "New Region(SomeRect)"? Do I need to call dispose on Rgn before assigning it to the the Rgns(0) clone?
I know i can collapse all regions with Ctrl+M, Ctrl+O - but that also collapses all of the subs/functions/properties etc within the #Region.if it collapsed all of the sub regions too - just not the subs etc.Is there a way to collapse all top level regions only? Maybe an extension?
View 1 RepliesI always get worried and my layout when i code. I always get myself in a flap when coding and worried i should be doing it different.What i am going on about is not the code it self. But where i actually put the code.
What i am thinking about is functionality (does it matter if formload code is at top/bottom/ or even middle)
And read ability. Do i put all button events into regions?
In my IDE #Region statement are left justified by the auto outlining tool. I think this is ugly. Is there anyway to make #Regions have standard indentions? I am using Visual studio 2008 version 9.0. See code block below for an example.

I'm refactoring VB.NET code where methods routinely run five hundred lines and the references are so tightly coupled that the code defies simple refactoring such as method extraction. And that's why I thought I would try regions within a method body. I just wanted to organize the code for the short term. But the IDE didn't let me (resulted in a compiler error.) I'm just curious as to why? Seems like code regions shouldn't impact the compiler, intellisense etc. Am I missing something? (Still using VS 2005 btw.)
Interesting: This seems to be language specific. It's OK in C# (I didn't check that initially) but not in VB.NET.
public module MyModule
Sub RunSnippet()
dim a as A = new A (Int32.MaxValue )
[code]....
that gets a compiler error but the C# version is ok.
I would like to create an interface that brings with it it's own private variables and regions.for example, if you create a class and implement IDisposable, you get all of the following:[code]
View 3 RepliesI've been having several problems lately with clients that are using a different Windows Region setting than I am. The error is as follows:
The type initializer for 'InventoryDataTable' threw an exception. ---> System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'InventoryDataTable' threw an exception. ---> System.FormatException: String was not recognized as a valid DateTime.
The error occurs when users load the application and their region settings do not match my own. The application loads up a dataset and attempts to receive a small amount of data before allowing the user to log in. When this is removed, the problem occurs immediately after the user logs in to the app. I cannot seem to find the proper settings to force the user to use either my Region, or to allow the application to figure it out on it's own...
In Visual Studio C# (2008) ctl-M-L expand all the regions. There's also a setting in Text Editor->C# ->Advanced to not collapse during file open. I see no equivalents in VB.NET.Is there a way to expand all the regions, not just the one which has focus in VB.NET.

I dragged and dropped a label control on my web form. But then whe I go to my VB .net code behind file, if I try and set a property on that label control, I am getting a "Declaration Expected" error message for the label I created.Yet if I do try and explicitly declare my label control, the compiler tells me that the label control is already declared.[code]

I'm running a webbrowser control with a custom user agent.When I try to load google with it, there are a number of 'script errors' in the website, which I've hidden by setting 'Scripterrorssupressed' to true. Now however there is still an 'object error' which pops up when i try to load google.Every other website that I've tried loads fine, and when I click 'ok' google runs fine. I'm quite sure its something to do with google 'location services' trying to locate my browser, because it thinks its a cellphone (due to the custom user agent).I've been trying DESPERATELY to fix these errors for DAYS! Is there any way I can just totally hide any popups - hence hiding this? Just any way to hide or stop the errors!

I have created a Custom control, containing 4 masked text boxes.and most times when i build it, i get a error: "InvalidArgument=Value of '-2147483648' is not valid for row position.' What is it? i searched MSDN, it looks like one of the SQL errors. How can this happen, i didn't use SQL.Edit: i fixed this tool strip problem. seems that i put visible to false unknowingly. I also have a problem with my Tool strip. The tool strip on the top works well, but the one i placed in a table layout panel, is missing from view, it only appears in Design view when i select it from the bottom strip.

I am developing an Outlook 2007 VSTO application that works with a commercial website.Almost all of the app's interactions with the website are done using HttpRequest objects.One user scenario does require the app to open a browser to a specific page on the site, and that page requires a Post string to provide the results of a form submit.I am using the version of the WebBrowser control that ships with VS 2008, and specifically VB.Net.My code successfully goes to the first page, after which it navigates to the actual target page (once the first page is loaded).That works, too, but if I click on the desired link on the target page, a JavaScript error pops up, stating "'j.parentNode' is not an object", with a Code of 0.I do not have access t the commerical site's internals. The page and links in question, when accessed via IE or Firefox, work correctly without the JavaScript error. The page containing the link is using Flex.Is this a problem with the nWebBrowser control?

I have a windows application created using Visual Studios 2005.I recently added a custom control - after I built it, I was able to see it on the toolbox and I placed it from there to my form. All was good till at some point, when I tried to go to the design view of my form that the control is on, I get this error: Could not load file or assembly 'acdbmgd, Version=17.2.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. [code]I can still run my app and see the control that's on the form, but I'm wondering what this error means? If I rem out the code behind my custom control, I can then view the control on the page again when I design the form.
