May 30, 2011I have 2 winforms, one acts as server (ie Winform:Server role) and another one as client (ie Winform: Client role). In my LAN setup, there are 6 PCs and these PCs connected to each other via a 8-port switch and each PC has more than 1 LAN card.
There is one PC running [Winform: Server role] and 5 others running the [Winform: client role]. In [Winform: Server role], I'm using following code to obtain local ip address and port number and the [Winform: Server role] will listen to all incoming TCP requests according to these auto assigned ip address and port number.

I need to clarify my intention. My current approach to my intention maybe incorrect. I attempt to create a 'zero configuration client-server networking' and that is plug & play. The server will know where the client and vise versa. I know there is a program (i.e. MaxiVista) has done that exactly.
MaxiVista has 2 applications, i.e. server and client. Users only need to execute the server application in PC designated as server role and execute the client application in another PC designated as client role. Then the server will be able to find all executing clients in the same LAN.
My intention is just that. Plug and play 'zero configuration client-server networking' within the same LAN.

Apr 21, 2010I want to be able to see if the values a user inputs into 2 textboxs equals the values assigned to a picture. I put these values in the picture's name and tag. Also the picturebox is getting the image from a random function correlating to an imagelist. How would i go about thisI thought of maybe using a checkbox and coding

and textbox1.text = 1 _

Apr 18, 2011I have a number of images that I want to select a random number of and populate that number of picture boxes either dynamically or that already exist but can't think of the logic that would do it.
I considered dynamically creating them but don't know of a way to name them uniquely. I tried using pcbx& a variable but it didn't like that. Placing the image inside picture boxes that already exist, I couldn't think of a way to differentiate between them without what seemed excessive repetitive coding.

Getting Card Pictures Into Picture Box After Random Number Is Drawn
Jun 27, 2009Still working on a very simplistic poker game and I'm struggling with getting the code to show my cards in picture boxes. I currently have 12 picture boxes set up on my form and when clicking the "deal" button I created on the form, I would like a random number to be generated from 1-53 and based on the number returned I would like a picture of a playing card entered into the picturebox. I would like this to happen in 10 picture boxes. So playing cards will be shown in the picture box on 10 of them and a the card back on the picture box 11 and 12. After hitting a second button, I would like the 11th and 12th boxes to display a card from the deck.
With all that being said my questions are:
1. How do I associate the random numbers with my playing cards? (I have my card pictures in a file on my computer.)
2. How do I get the picture of the cards into the picture boxes? What would the code look like?
3. I have a button to clear all the cards, but how to I program it.

Each time I click the button the text box number should decrease by 1 until it hits 20 then when the button is clicked nothing happens. I have tried multiple pieces of code from For counter 41 To 20 Step -1 to If counter <> 0 Then textbox -= 1, but it only works for one click. Feb 9, 2009I have a timer that basically counts a number up in sequence in a label. On the On Text Change sub for the label I have functions run when the label is at a specific number. Everything works fine, the only problem I have is I have information pulled from an ODBC link to a pervasive database every second, which slows down the program. I have several flash components that run so slowly because of the data update. Now I have tried both using a dataset and coding the query but it is still ver slow and processor intensive, I think its because the Pervasive ODBC link is somewhat slow. Is there a way to have my data pull timer run in the background so that it doesnt effect the performance of the rest of the program?
