How To Parse Data From A SQLite Database
Apr 2, 2009
I'm writing a program that needs to parse data from a SQLite Database, I have the reference DLL but I do not know the proper syntax for the actual parsing of the file. The reference I have is located at [URL]..I don't really see any code that would need to be given seeing as the code for that class is currently something link:
Imports System.data.SQLite
public class SQLite
public sub Retrieve_Data
end sub
public sub Connect2SQLite
end sub
end class

I am using VS2008 and SQLite. I have created a database and several tables and am attempting to populate the tables with data from arrays.
The following code (example) works fine but stops after it inserts 30 to 50 records. I am running the VB code in debug mode and when it stops, I press pause to see where it is. It stops on "SQLcommand.ExecuteNonQuery()" and when I press continue (F5) it will insert another 30 to 50 records.
I do not get an error message. Is this a timeout issue? How do I keep the loop running to the end of the array?
Following is example code.
Dim
SQLconnect As New SQLite.SQLiteConnection()
Dim SQLcommand As SQLiteCommand
CODE:.....................

I am writing an app that uses both an SQLite and MySql database. The reason for this before you ask is that it means I can store a local copy of the data onto my user' own machines when they are offline, and then update them to a central server when they are next online.
The problem I have is that when using datasets (on tables created in identical fashion) the itemarray of the mysql database has 9 extra totally blank fields...where as the SQLite itemarray has only the values for the items.
here is a snippet of the code:
CODE:
ultimately I am getting an index size mismatch error but with both tables having the same number of fields this is confusing.

I am using System.Data.SQLite with VB 2010 to bind to a SQLite database. Everything works just as it did in VB2005. I drug a table from the DataSources Window onto the form and automatically generated the binding navigator, table adapters, etc. I can preview data in the TableAdapter but when I run the app no data is read into the grid. The same thing happens with the details view. The BindingNavigator shows 0 of 0 records. There are 27 records visible when I preview the data. The code follows:

i'm just starting with sqlite, as apparently its quicker than access for a real time logger. i'm using this as a tutorial - i didn't install the runtime support with SQLite as it causes issues when using 2008 express.[URL]..
but it seems the data isn't being written to to the db. i can't tell exactly because i dont have a program to view the table contents, only to view the setup of the db.

I am accessing an sqlite database file from my VB.NET application.Currently, I use Try... Catch when opening the connection to the database, however if the database is locked by another application, it will take 5-10 seconds to throw the exception which says that the database is locked.
So I want to know if there is a way to test if the database is locked before I try to open the connection... because the long 5-10 second pause is annoying.

I'm creating a VB.Net application that stores data in a SQLite backend. The data comes in excel workbooks that the user can import from. Each workbook has one worksheet (about 30,000 rows) that gets reformated a bit and imported to a new table. What's the most efficient way to do this?
I'm currently reading in the entire range from Excel into a 2D array. Looping over the rows in this array and adding each row to a long SQL statement that gets executed every thousand rows. But this is painfully slow both on the looping through the array bit and the pushing to the SQLite step.
Code below:
'First open the xls reformater book and read in our data
Dim xlApp As New Excel.Application
Dim xlWorkBook As Excel.Workbook

The situation is this. I have an application written in vb.net. it consists or two parts. One on a PC and the other on a handheld windows mobile 6 device . The desktop program transfers a SQLServer compact database to and from the handheld device using activesync via USB. Potentially we want to look into having android handheld devices also supported by this application. Now I know I can use SQLite with .net. I know I can use ADB to push and pull data (and therefore the database files) to and from the device.
What I need to know is can I access ADB directly from VB.NET as an API or SDK rather than having to do it manually.
Unless of course I'm missing something and I can copy databases to and from the device in some other way?

I have two Combo-Boxes like this
I need to create an auto-fill feature for the 1st Combo-Box. It should list the EmployeeID if Search-By Field is specified as Employee-Number. Similarly it should list Employee First Name along with Last Name if the Search-By Field is Employee-Name.
How can I do this? I have no clue, I am doing this for the first time. I am using SQLite, Visual Studio 2010.
Dim mySelectQuery As String = "SELECT " & Search & " FROM EmployeeTable WHERE Status LIKE '" & Status & "'"
Dim myConnString As String = "Data Source=" & Application.StartupPath & "DatabaseSimpleDB.db3"

I have an email account that receives various requests to get free materials, for different items. These emails will usually contain name, item, quantity of item, address, state, zip. What makes it difficult is that all the emails are different, unstructured, and the data is usually buried in the emails, i.e. a forwarded email.I want a way to get all the information and parse it into a ms sql database.I know there are products that would work really well like url... but at work we can't afford this.I was thinking of creating a webservice that would input mail data posted from a third party site like cloudmail.com into a secondary website and then maybe creating a ruby script that would crawl the messages and extract addresses, etc. Anyone know of a good, simple alternative, a custom script in ruby, php, vb.net or possibly an open source solution?

I have a directory full of .txt comma delimited files arranged as shown below. What I want to do is to import each of these into a SQL or SQLite database, appending each one below the last. (1 table)... I am open to C# or VB scripting and just not sure how to accomplish this. I want to only extract and import the data starting BELOW the 'Feat. Type,Feat. Name, etc' line.
These are stored in a mynetworkdirectorystats folder on my network drive. Ideally I will be able to add functionality that will make the software/script know not to re-add the file to the database once it has already done so as well.

I have run into this problem a few times and have never come up with a good answer. I figure others must have dealt with this already.I have a datareader returned from the database and I want to use the values therein however values may or may not contain NULL. I would like to have a unction that takes in the value from the datareader and returns the value if it is not NULL and blank space if it is NULL.The problem I have is that the data-type of the variable I am testing is variable. It can be a String, and Integer or a DateTime. Can anyone suggest a simple way to test the value and then return the original value (as same data-type if possible) or something else if it is NULL

I am trying to parse a file generated by LGA Tracon that lists the position data for aircraft over a given time frame. The data of interest starts with TRACKING DATA and ends with SST and there are thousands of entries per file. The system generating the file, Common ARTS, is very rigid in its formatting and we can expect the column spacing to be consistent. Here is an image to preserve the exact formatting Here is a reduced text file.
