I'm trying to find the sum of all the digits that make up the number 2^1000, which you may have guessed is from Project Eula. I think it's good so far except I'm just learning about arrays and dynamic arrays, so how will I know what the size of the index will be so I can specify when the Do loop should stop so I don't get an indexoutofrange exception?
vb.net
Dim BigNumber As Double = 2 ^ 1000
Dim DigitArray() As Char = BigNumber.ToString.ToCharArray
Dim Index As Integer = 0
Dim SumOfDigits As Integer = 0

I m trying to manipulate some excel sheet data in visual basic but for tht i hv converted the excel file into text tab delimited file. now i m able access each column n row value as i want but the prob is the text file has to b input n the no of columns in it could be varied so i need a method to count the number of elements in th tab delimited array wen first time the text file line is read.
Public Class A Private aa As Integer Dim bb As Integer Public cc As Integer
[code]....
what is the size of the object oA?and what if Class A and B contain methods?(I meant the size of object)what if inherited class B contains overridden methods?(size of object)what if inherited class B contains variables with same name as in Class A?(size of object)I need theoretical answer. Does those access specifiers Private,Dim,Public make any difference in allocating memory because of their different scopes? On what basis memory is allotted for a method? etc.
I'm working on a project and need to determine the size of a text file. I know that I could just count characters but the file will be several MB's large.
So we're having this problem. A user goes to upload a file, and if it's above 10MB, it just kind of times out the page, and clears, and no good error is thrown to describe what happened. Ideally, we would like to examine the file size when the user chooses the file they want to upload but I don't know if this is even possible. Our framework is built with ASP.NET, VB.NET, and Javascript (and ExtJS 3.0), and it runs in IE.
I am running Windows 7 home premium (64bit) and writing programs using VB 2010 Express.
I have found a user can change icon display size using 'control panel' > 'appearance and personalization' >'Display' where they can select small, medium or large. The result, even though the icon heigth & width values are not changed, the apparent icon size on the desktop(and also text size in controls) is changed. Hence, if the user has chosen a larger icon size that I have on my machine, text in a button is larger and may not be completely visible.Knowing the user font size choice, I could adjust font size as required.[code]...
Are inputboxes nolonger dynamic in size?in VB6 I could list say 12 months of the year along with month numbers and ask the user to select a month number. So the code would go:strmsg = "1" & chr(9) & "January & chr(13) & "2" & chr(9) & "February" & chr(13) e.t.c. {for each month} & "Leave Blank To Cancel". This would list Month 1 to 12 plus the last line.
There appear to be 2 problems using vb.net:
1The input box does not grow virtically to accommodate a dynamic number of lines
2The chr(9) function to produce a "tab" does not appear to work, whilst the chr(13) (Return) does work
i am in the process of learning myself VB.net (2010 dotnet 4 )And am a litte confused in whats the best way to program what can be called an array.i want to have an array that looks like this,
{{"aap", 1}, {"noot", 2}, {"mies", 3, "boom"}, {"vuur", 4, 7}} now i tried to declare
I am having some trouble with an array full of data which I am trying to process. The data has been picked out of an Excel spreadsheet and contains items such as phone numbers. The problem is that when I drop this array back into a spreadsheet, Excel being clever, decides that some of the phone numbers are numbers and removes the "+" from the front.[code]...
I know that adding a ' in front of the + will remedy this. What I need to do is find out which of the numbers in the array are actually numbers and which have spaces/characters in them. IS there a quick way of doing this without having to search through each individual character of each array position?
Im extremely new to programming. Im trying to determine how to get values from 6 different text boxes put them into an Array. They are in a function not on the form. Three of those values need to be used for calculation.
I am trying to program the hamming code in vb... theoretically i understand and know how to do everything, first problem I've encountered is dynamic arrays in vb.net ... is it possible to determine the length of an array from the number of items entered in it, since I have no means of figuring out an exact number or length prior to several mathematical function which outcome will be the data .. directly saved to the array !!
I have BIG trouble trying to understand the decleration and creation of an instance with respect to arrays of objects. Basically I struggle with with this error:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
complete the test code I made below, so that I can try to understand it..? Been figthing with this for hours..
I want to build an array with info from an XML file.
The number of columns is static, but the rows will be increased once in awhile and I want one column to populate in a combobox while corrosponding selectedindex appears in a textbox. I think I can figure that part out, but currently stuck at the array building.[code...
First off a short background of the project I am working on- I am developing a program that will be run off removable media (i.e. USB Flash drive). This will be a virtual desktop which you will be able to take with you and have the same desktop on any system. As we know drive letters can change with each host system the drive is plugged into, I need to be able to determine the path for the flash drive and access a specific folder ( i.e. My Documents)
I have an picture box(representing the icon) placed on my form (form1) and when I click the icon I want to be able to open and view the a specific folder from the portable drive. I need a click event that will determine a dynamic drive letter for a directory on the removable drive and then open that directory in an explorer window.
I'm working on a program that has to get a set of images and then scan them to find pixels that match colors in an color array. Anyway I think I got everything working but how to load the images in as bitmaps. See the images are dynamic, they change there filenames so I can't call them with a static call like Dim bmp2 As New Bitmap("c:button.gif").
So I am using a loop to feed the images into an array for bitmap but thats not working, anyway that I can do this as, right now the program gets all the filenames for the images from a text file that is sent in to us. All I need to do is have the program check each image for pixels that match our color list. But I cant get the images into the bitmap array.
[URL]..And put into a dynamic array where each month represents a record in the array with 3 given with C/P, Strike and Settle
The criterion is for every month grab all C/P that have matching strikes thus returning the following for every month. See data below and what I would like to return below. Want to use excel VBA to return the values from array into a sheet in excel. See data below
I created a code that will prompt someone to enter a name and if the name is in the array it should print out the correct integer, but it keeps printing out not valid.
Private Sub btnDisplay_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnDisplay.Click Dim strSub() As String = {"Jasmine", "Sean", "Devon", "Jontae", "Whitney"} Dim intNumb() As Integer = {15, 10, 11, 12, 5} Dim strSearchFor As String [Code] .....
A project requires to allocate a varying number of byte arrays (buffers).
It would be ideal if the following definition would be possible:
Dim ArrayOfBuffers() as buffer(10000) as Byte
The byte arrays must be ordered sequentially because they have to be written to a file by efficient procedures destinationFile.Write(ArrayOfBuffer(3),1000,1000)
The number of buffers will change during program execution sometimes. Therefore it would be nice to be able to do a ReDim on the data structure when needed.
I've been programming in VB.net for a while off and on, but never really had a need to use custom classes till now.I built a function in a module to populate a class, The class how ever is supposed to refer to one instance.I need to create an array of this class but the amount of instances needed is not always known.Works fine till the class goes to populate the class array.[code]It's probably something simple, I've just starred at it to long. Keep gettitng "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
Basically im having problems programming an array as double. I have it as ' public arrytotal() as double ', however I keep getting the error messages
1. Error 5 Operator '+' is not defined for types '2-dimensional array of Double' and '2-dimensional array of Double'. C:UsersAlexDocumentsCafe AssignmentCafe AssignmentconverthomeBackupWindowsApplication2Form2.vb 115 22 WindowsApplication2 and 2. Error 1 Value of type 'Double' cannot be converted to '2-dimensional array of Double'. C:UsersAlexDocumentsCafe AssignmentCafe AssignmentconverthomeBackupWindowsApplication2Form2.vb 84 19 WindowsApplication2
Is it possible to program an dynamic array as a double? i have seen examples of this online, but cannot seem to do it.
Private Sub LoadButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles LoadButton.Click Dim lin(8) As String, filRead As StreamReader, i, x, t, d As Integer
[Code].....
I am getting a run time error it is not saving to textfile
I am attempting to figure out the best way to place values into an array using dynamic data that is continuously streaming in from a ComPort. I want the array to hold 5 values at a time, with the newest incoming data point taking the place of the oldest data point. Each set of values in the array will be used in finding a trendline, which is then used in a later portion of the code.
I need a way to delete the last element in an array when I don't know how big the array is.Basically I need the VB version of php array_pop, but nothing relevant seems to be appearing in search results.
I'm trying to create an array of checkboxes dynamically and also want to put event to those checkboxes. For example: I have a array of checkboxes - Chk1, Chk2. I want it to work this way: When I check Chk1, I want to disable Chk2, and when Chk1 is unchecked, Chk2 is enable, and vice versa.
