I'm deserializing an object and in certain cases it works fine, however in others it fails. The exception is essentially meaningless to me, but there has to be a way to figure out where exactly it failed so i redirect my debugging.

So we're having this problem. A user goes to upload a file, and if it's above 10MB, it just kind of times out the page, and clears, and no good error is thrown to describe what happened. Ideally, we would like to examine the file size when the user chooses the file they want to upload but I don't know if this is even possible. Our framework is built with ASP.NET, VB.NET, and Javascript (and ExtJS 3.0), and it runs in IE.

I am running Windows 7 home premium (64bit) and writing programs using VB 2010 Express.
I have found a user can change icon display size using 'control panel' > 'appearance and personalization' >'Display' where they can select small, medium or large. The result, even though the icon heigth & width values are not changed, the apparent icon size on the desktop(and also text size in controls) is changed. Hence, if the user has chosen a larger icon size that I have on my machine, text in a button is larger and may not be completely visible.Knowing the user font size choice, I could adjust font size as required.[code]...

I'm trying to find the sum of all the digits that make up the number 2^1000, which you may have guessed is from Project Eula. I think it's good so far except I'm just learning about arrays and dynamic arrays, so how will I know what the size of the index will be so I can specify when the Do loop should stop so I don't get an indexoutofrange exception?

I'm looking for a similar "IsStructure" function. Is there some other way to determine if T is a structure but not an intrinsic type?

I can't figure out how to determine the type of an object in a collection. I want to do a For Each ... Next loop over the items in the DropDownItems collection of a ToolStripMenuItem. We would like to know whether there is any way to interrogate a Graphics object and determine whether it is to be used to print or to render to some other canvas. We're aware of an API call that can be used but would prefer to avoid that route if possible. There's also the possibility of simply passing a flag in with the Graphics object that is True from a PrintPage event handler and False from elsewhere, but that's not ideal either. We're looking for a managed property or method accessible via the Graphics class itself, but nothing's jumping out.

So I used this query in LinqPad to help me determine what the object would look like. I got back a IOrderQueryable(Of RSError) which then contained a IGrouping(Of String, RSError) for each grouped collection of objects returned by the query.However I ended up with the current object type of errors as IOrderedQueryable(Of IGrouping(Of String, RSError)) because of the cast error I am getting in VS.

I toying with a project where I can position objects runtime on the screen. I also have an small "preview"-window, where I want to see the outline of the objects.I have an object array who have size and location on the "scene". Now I want to loop through my scene-objects and create one picturebox in the preview-window for each object in the "scene".
So, I have the size of the "Scene" and an array of the objects that are visible on the scene. Every object have an size and location mapped to the scene.I also have a preview window that have an dynamic size. How do I create a preview that scales down to the preview window? To make it easy, I loop through the scene objects in the scene and create a picturebox on the preview-form for each object, that uses the preview-forms size to do the scaling.

I want to modify the default Object text size for all objects I place on my form. When I am teaching, it is hard to see the text on the objects. I have changed the code area to 16 pt, but I have not seen how to modify the default font size of the object. They all are 8.8 pt.

anything wrong with using datatype object and determine datatype in class property? I have a typed dataset and it has several integers columns that are null in the db. and when I make a call it throws exception.is there anythign wrong with setting it as object in my dataset.. changing the throw exception property to Nothing and passing it to my property as integer?

Now all went well about from using the structure correctly. The working of the structure was perfect. How ever i missed Two important issues. The structure needed a fixed size of 10 items (9 in programming terms starting from 0) And also out of the 5 items allowed to be chosen as one of the member types for the structure a limit of 5 items of that particular type.

I have been using vb6 for a while, I am following a tutorial by MS to develop a basic application and a simple task cannot be completed for whatever reasons! The tutorial asks to drag the label object from the toolbox and drop in the tab control container. Then, go to the label size property and adjust the size to some different dimansion. Basic stuff, right? It won't let me do it! After I enter the new dimensions (which by the way are not large or very small), the label size (both width and height) resets back to its original dimensions! I have the vb.net sp1 installed.

Whats the font size real meaning? since when i use Arial font size 10 in the report its gonna take different space than the textbox im using (Both using exactly same font type/size/unit) its kinda if i set 10 milimiters to the font size why would the i and M for example have so diferent size.
i wish it was like in the Notepad where all the letters take the same space. what i need its to give a certain texbox(in the report) with auto grow to have always the same lines of height but its not posible to calculate it from vb b4 being inputed to the report.

Im trying to resize a picturebox dynamically using .size.height and .size.width Its not working.
