Are inputboxes nolonger dynamic in size?in VB6 I could list say 12 months of the year along with month numbers and ask the user to select a month number. So the code would go:strmsg = "1" & chr(9) & "January & chr(13) & "2" & chr(9) & "February" & chr(13) e.t.c. {for each month} & "Leave Blank To Cancel". This would list Month 1 to 12 plus the last line.
There appear to be 2 problems using vb.net:
1The input box does not grow virtically to accommodate a dynamic number of lines
2The chr(9) function to produce a "tab" does not appear to work, whilst the chr(13) (Return) does work
I'm trying to find the sum of all the digits that make up the number 2^1000, which you may have guessed is from Project Eula. I think it's good so far except I'm just learning about arrays and dynamic arrays, so how will I know what the size of the index will be so I can specify when the Do loop should stop so I don't get an indexoutofrange exception?
vb.net Dim BigNumber As Double = 2 ^ 1000 Dim DigitArray() As Char = BigNumber.ToString.ToCharArray Dim Index As Integer = 0 Dim SumOfDigits As Integer = 0 [Code] .....
I m trying to manipulate some excel sheet data in visual basic but for tht i hv converted the excel file into text tab delimited file. now i m able access each column n row value as i want but the prob is the text file has to b input n the no of columns in it could be varied so i need a method to count the number of elements in th tab delimited array wen first time the text file line is read.
i am in the process of learning myself VB.net (2010 dotnet 4 )And am a litte confused in whats the best way to program what can be called an array.i want to have an array that looks like this,
{{"aap", 1}, {"noot", 2}, {"mies", 3, "boom"}, {"vuur", 4, 7}} now i tried to declare
What im thinking of doing is let the user type in a 16 numeric number of the credit card or debit yet if not numeric or 16 numbers show a message box saying"Must be numeric and 16 numbers"
Do strInput = InputBox(" Enter Your 16 Debit or Credit Card Number ") Loop While strInput.Length <> 16
I am working on saving some simple strings (from InputBoxes) to an Xml file.I am also at the same time displaying these file entries in a Data GridView. My problem seems to be that as soon as the XmlDocument ("doc") is saved, a dialog box is displayed as follows: This file has been edited outside of the source editor I am getting the dialog, and 2) why I cannot run the routine again (without exiting the application first!). [code]
Now all went well about from using the structure correctly. The working of the structure was perfect. How ever i missed Two important issues. The structure needed a fixed size of 10 items (9 in programming terms starting from 0) And also out of the 5 items allowed to be chosen as one of the member types for the structure a limit of 5 items of that particular type.
i have created a dynamic tabpage and a dynamic tablelayoutpanel inside it then added dynamic textboxes and labels inside the tablelayoutpanel...the thing is , i am having a problem on how to access the value of those textboxes and labels and add them as new columns in the new table(tagpage) in mysql database, i can already create the table in the database but i cant add the new columns in it. heres the code for accessing the values of the labels and textboxes
error: NullReferenceException was unhandled....Object variable or With block variable not set.
Basically i have one TabControl with a form and 2 browsers within one form I have ProBlem To call the dynamic browser to navigate with dynamic Textbox.text
I need to represent the following query using LINQ:
DECLARE @PurchasedInventoryItemID Int = 2 DECLARE @PurchasedInventorySectionID Int = 0 DECLARE @PurchasedInventoryItem_PurchasingCategoryID Int = 3 DECLARE @PurchasedInventorySection_PurchasingCategoryID Int = 0
[code]....
Now, I know that a query in .NET doesnt look like this, this is my test in the SQL Design Studio. Naturally VB.NET variables will be used in place of the SQL local variables. My problem is this: All of the conditions after "WHERE" are optional. In that a query might be made that uses one, some, all, or none of the conditions. V.PropertyID and V.Value can also appear any number of times. In VB.NET I can make this query easy enough by simply concatenating strings, and using a loop to append the "V.PropertyID/V.Value" conditions.I can also make a Stored Procedure in MS SQL, which is easy enough. However, I want to accomplish this using LINQ.
Ive managed to dynamically create a form, and dynamically create a timer, but i have not been able to create the timer on the dynamic form. Specifically, i need to be able to have the timer itself create another form with a timer. (I realize that this would create a new form every interval on the timer, that is what i want to do)
1. A way to add the timer to the dynamic form, and maintain the timer sub on my main form.
2. A way to create the whole thing over (dynamic form and timer) through the previous dynamic form and timer.
I was thinking i could use a collection/array to store the forms and timers, but i'm still having trouble figuring out how to add entire forms or timers into a list. (A timer is not considered a control, so i cant use a controlcollection...)
Heres my code;
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim frm As New Form
[Code]....
*EDIT* Btw, my idea was to use i as a variable that increases every time a form is created, then insert the form into the array, with i as the integer. i just need to know how to create a new form with a different name each time. (as with timers)
I have a label which appears full screen on a projector (VGA 2). In this label I will be sending strings. Some one liner's, some wrapped paragraphs. Some multi-line with carrage returns. My goal is to have the font dynamically change size to be as large as possible without overflowing the fixed label size.
Whats the font size real meaning? since when i use Arial font size 10 in the report its gonna take different space than the textbox im using (Both using exactly same font type/size/unit) its kinda if i set 10 milimiters to the font size why would the i and M for example have so diferent size.
i wish it was like in the Notepad where all the letters take the same space. what i need its to give a certain texbox(in the report) with auto grow to have always the same lines of height but its not posible to calculate it from vb b4 being inputed to the report.
Im trying to resize a picturebox dynamically using .size.height and .size.width Its not working. This is the error message: "Expression is a value and therefore cannot be the target of an assignment." Never used height and width before. Been trying to find the answer, but it seems beyond me. Im sure its easy. Anyone know whats wrong with this?
I had set a print format to print some word in a Text box, when I input the text in text box is an normal size from system, but I want it print out to printer follow the Rectangle size that is was set to print out on paper.actuary i want it can auto size the font size follow by the length of string.
I'm new to VB in Visual Studio 2008 and am just trying out some simple test.I just want to change the Font & Boldness of some text but get the following errorProperty 'Size' is Read onlyI have been browsing the forums and it seems that changing the font size etc isn't as simple as
I am working with vb.net and want to increase the size of image when the cursor is over that image, but the image should come back to its original size when the cursor leaves that image area.I've used the following code to increase the size of image:[code]I've used the default size class but, it gives some different dimensions.by the code that brings the image into its original size that I've been declared into the picture box properties.
when I click the Open button a file is opened and its items are sorted alphabetically. to do this I have doubled the size of my list. However, when I click the button again to reopen the same file, the items will ADD ON to the previous open-file event even though I have this piece of lstListboxTwo.Items.Clear()(the correct thing is to clear the previous items and add the new ones)So I think this has to do with the new size of my list..I think that I have to set the list size back to its normal size when re-clicking on the button.
Public Class frmForm Dim List() As String = {""} Dim count As Integer
I have wondered the solution to this question for many years! I doubt if anyone else knows much about it because the internet is absolutely zero help in this!
I have made a form1 with a webbrowser control on it. When the program is run it brings up the homepage (which is Google). However the homepage doesn't seem to fit inside the webbrowser control.
So I am hoping that someone could tell me how to make the (...I dunno how to ask this retarded question...) webpage fit completely (100%) inside the size of the webbrowser control. Meaning...I would like to see the entire webpage from the internet in the size of the webbrowser control. To fill the entire size (whatever size I want).
Etc... if my webbrowser ontrol is seh, set to 600px by 400px, how can I program this so when it brings up the homepage (or any other page), it fills the entire size of the webbrowser control? Without any scrollbars. How to make the contents from the web (or local) fill the size of the webbrowser - almost like a mini browser if you will.
I have a form that i need to be 100% Dynamic. So it could contain 10 labels maybe 100 who knows.
When you hover over a label there will be a different contextmenustrip to appear for each and every label. So all the contextmenustrips are Dynamic and contain 1 option maybe 2 options even 3 or 4 up to the users settings.
My problem is not creating a handler for when the user clicks on the contextmenustrips options. The problem is knowing which one of the options for that contextmenu was clicked!!
OK, I'm trying to display tooltip text for a dynamic edit box. Well, at least I'm trying to.
On my form, I've got a tool tip control which I've conveniently named ToolTip. My edit box displays OK. But, what I want to do is when the user hovers their mouse over the text box, I want the tool tip to display some text.
I think there are two problems that I'm having. I'm not convinced that I'm properly addressing a dynamic text box name. Ideally, I would want to be able to refer to the text box (but using a dynamic variable that will contain the prefix of the name). To hardcode, I would want to be able to achieve (not in this example but in theory): ABCDEFGt_0300.Text = "hello"
Dim controllerName as string = "ABCDEFG" Dim t_0300 As New TextBox() Me.Controls.Add(t_0300)
Okay here's what I'm trying to do. I want to change the font size of a label based on the size of the form.If the form size is 0 through let's say 500 I want the label size to be 50. How can I write this?
If I have form say sized 1300 x 800, I would like to proportionally size the form to the computers screen size. I can get it to size to the screen size, but it is not proportional
I developed a form application on my computer, but when it was used in another computer with different screen size, i was told the form didn't fit. Do I have to adjust the form size or any other ways to let the form compatible on different screen size? (could be different screen size or wide screen)
Try it yourself: Plug in a USB flash drive (just a normal one with a single primary partition on it, as is the manufactures configured) to your computer.
Run WIM "Select * From Win32_DiskDrive"
Note the USB drive's size (in my case, it is a Kinston DataTraveller G3 2GB drive):
Win32_DiskDrive instance
BytesPerSector: 512
Caption: Kingston DataTraveler G3 USB Device
[CODE]....
Why the partition is bigger than the disk on which the partition is created and just a part of the disk?
