I need to display them in their own label with the read in button[code]...
I want to read a text file and write the lines on different labels. Is it possible to generate labels?
I tried with four labels with label1, label2, label3, label4 names but I don't know how to create a loop to read every line of the file and write it in every different label. First line in first label, second line in second label etc.[code]...
I have a application working in my pc.I can get every detail of that application(handle,mainwindowhandle,etc.)
And that application has a lot of labels, and I want to read that label and msgbox that string in my own application.
Is it possible to read a label's text property of another app? I know how to get the handle of the main window, and how to get the handle for a child. But the problem is that there's like 20 other labels on the window and when I use winID to get it's class, it's just "Edit", and it's the same for all the labels. And the title is the value of the labels text property. [URL]
View 3 RepliesI've been having this problem with my program hanging up sometimes. I tracked the problem down to the following statement:
me.lblPrompt.Text = strInfoToDisplay
So I checked strInfoToDisplay and sure enough it had in there what I thought it would. So then I checked lblPrompt. I'm using the command window and just using? me.lblPrompt.Text to get the system to tell the the value. Well, guess what it does? It hangs up. I haven't been able to get the command window to tell me one time what's going on. However, I know it has to work sometimes becuase the program (from the user standpoint) doesn't always freeze up the way it does when I can't read the prompt.

how do i read excel file at VB.net & display the result in a label or something..e.g i know cell A2 is a string of text - e.g Hello this is the P/L for the month i want grab that and put in a label etc.
View 11 RepliesI'm using vb.net 1.1 to develop the program. I got text files that contain test result from a machine, like below.
T1 1.24535 2.56335 2.43253 1.24538 2.55619 4.35243
T2 1.42542 1.63728 3.57295 4.59275 1.57320 2.72057
T3 5.12857 2.45375 6.38593 2.58375 3.57259 3.57204
I need to check the test result with the data from database, to find out which test result is failed. If there is a fail test result, I will show an alert to the operator and stop the checking process. Until the operator close the alert, then the checking process will continue from the last read point.
I have a label that reads a random line from a text file and that string becomes the text for the label.
Now the problem; the label will only work if it is clicked because the event handler is click.What I need is this to work automatically at startup. In other words, it should change the label's text to the random string of the text file on startup of the application.
Here is my code.[code..]
I'm trying to make a program that can read .mp3 data (Such as Artist, Album, Year, Track number, etc), but I need to be able to do two things that I have no clue how to do:

how to do this for vb6 however i am using vb 2008 and the code for vb6 does not seem to work.
I have designed a form with a text box on it, and a command button underneath. The idea is to run this as a sort of stiky notes section.
I want the text box to read rich text into the textbox (C:\\stickynotes.rtf")
Then i have a command button underneath which i want to save the content of the rich text box to the rtf file (C:\\stickynotes.rtf). This is so that the user can edit and ammend information.
here is some code i have so far
Dim fileReader As System.IO.StreamReader
fileReader = My.Computer.FileSystem.OpenTextFileReader("C:\\stickynotes.rtf")
So far what i have is a button and a text box and when you press the button it my.computer.filesystem.readalltext(from this file as string) but what i want it to do is to read all the text in that file minus whatever is in parenthesis so like lets say the file has saved into it, hi my name is bob but my realname is (jeorge) that when you press the button it reads and shows everything in the file minus jeorge which is in parenthesis
View 4 Repliesim trying to have the user press a button and a window pops up to select a file. then it reads the file and puts it in a text box. how could i do this?

Dim saveDlg As SaveFileDialog = New SaveFileDialog
saveDlg.Filter = "JPEG (*.jpeg)|*.jpeg |All Files |*.*"

i want to change the label text into the File saved names, i want show just the name and not the entire path.
Basically I want to have a textbox (TextBox1) that when you enter an area code (ex. 512) that it will return the state (TEXAS) in the label (Label1). One way that I had been trying before was to reference from a text file the array that I am using which happens to be in the format of 512, TEXAS.
Sample -
TextBox1: 512
Label1: Texas
[Code]...
I would like to use this for multiple area codes and have been unsuccessful in getting it to work.
I am making a simple form which has multiple hidden panels and quite a lot of text on it.The form has 7 panels with 2 labels (or would you recommend I use text boxes?) per panel,which I was going to set to a specific line from the text file. My rationale was that if I wanted to edited the label's text I only had to go to the text file.
View 3 RepliesI a very large text document, I need to read some lines and at the end of each line, insert a text from the header of each page to he preceding lines.I have the following code the reads the file and displays it on a list box.Public Class Dialogs..[code]
View 2 RepliesI need to implement a routine to read a plain text file, BUT that file has a predefined format.The file format is as follows:
Quote:
<FILE_PROPERTIES> 'The "< >" also appears
Propertie1="String" 'It's possible to have spaces after or before the "="
Propertie2="String"
Propertie3="String"
PropertieN="String"
[code]....
Is there any Windows API Routine to read something like that?Or could you point me an URL where something is implemented?I don't want a procedure to read the file line by line and comparing them with Line Input because blank spaces, empty lines and comments starting with " // " may appear too, and I don't want to take them into account, but also I need to save changes to the file, but only to the modified section, without having to read the whole file, and re-write it completely.
Binary access can't work, because I don't know what's the size of each "section", since the number of elements into it can change.
I need something like the "ReadINI" Windows API Procedure, but allowing me to read the "[XXX]" sections headers, and also the "<XXX>" file title header.
