I'm trying to build a search tool for my application... I have a form with a bunch of criteria which the user may or may not fill in. The tool is looking up against one table in the database (OLEDB) so I wanted to pull in all the data from the table into a dataset (when the form loads) and perform the search on it. I'm not sure how to search through datasets... this is the code I have now:

but I get an error on the foundrows = line ("Value of type 1-dimensional array of system.data.datarow cannot be converted to system.data.datarow").... is there a better way for me to search the dataset?
Is it possible to build a search engine to use on a DVD that contains Word documents, text documents, etc.? Say I wanted to find all documents with the name "James" in them. In the search box I would type "James", and it would return the results of everywhere James is found. Or suppose I wanted to find all Land Deeds where James is found, is that possible? All search engine examples that I have seen on VB Help has to do with databases, and I guess to an extent, my DVD would be the database.

Is there any free tool available that can be used to build Active Directry query also can i execute active directry query through c# code because while connecting to active directory through object model and iterating through each property of the active directory specially when all the property is not requierd the performance cost is comming. What I want is to query Active Directory domain get some property value ans save it in the sharepoint list, I am using object model to do this but at the cost of the performance. I am thinking to execute the query through C# code same as any Active Diretory Query tool to pull the value and then save it into the list.

In my program I have a combo box that the user selects a date from and a list view that the user selects an employee ID from. How do I properly design my database query string to use both the date selected and the employee ID selected? The date is stored in a variable called YearMonth and the employee ID is stored in a variable called EmpID.

Having a bit of troble with this one.Breif outline, Im making a website automation program for my business that will download CSV orders for me without logging into the website manually.
Im on a page that has an "order from" date field and an "order to" date field. Both these fields are in dd/MM/yyyy format.I would like my form to be a one click thing so i just click the download orders button and it logs in and gets the order from the date i have set. The trouble is the "order from" field wont take "todays date" It has to be set as the day before.

What I am about to do build is a UI that will allow a power user to build complex queries.
This is non-trivial, but very common. So before I re-invent the wheel, I would like to see if anybody can point me to some already-written free code or release some of their own.
Required:
To be able to specify some 'where-clause' type logic like this: Age>21 and (Citizen=True or HasGreeCard=True) but without having to type the query code, instead, use a UI with constrained options and on-the-fly syntax checking (e.g., no unclosed parenthesis or ending a term with an Operator).
I've seen this type of thing in many line-of-business apps, where you can say 'add condition' and another line appears on the UI like this:
Dropdown of fields Dropdown of ops (=, >, etc) Blank box for entry
And you can add more lines, and the lines are all and'ed, but you can also decide to OR a few, or insert parenthesis (explicity or via indenting), NOT a line, insert, delete, and move lines around, etc.
Not required but nice:
WPF - I could convert from winforms. Extensibility using OO constructs. Validate the sanity of the query. Emit a System.Linq.Expressions expression tree - or similar data structure. If it attempts to execute the query I don't need that; but I don't mind removing it.

-For Title exact phrase will get 0.5 points
-For Description exact phrase will get 0.4 points
-For tags exact phrase will get 0.3 points
-For title all words will get 0.2 points
-For description all words will get 0.2 points
-For title one or more words will get 0.1 points

And I will show these videos on basis of points. What will be the SQL Query for this? A LINQ query will be more better.
Is it possible to Query or search or anything for a DBX file. We are looking to be able to pull out the Sender, Subject, Date of Arrival, Yes/No Attachment, and the body if possible of the message. I've found a bunch of programs online so it seems possible, but how do you do it? I'm currently using VB 2005 but could work this out in C# if VB isn't a good option.

The problem I'm having is it's returning the both InstName and the StuName multiple times in the listbox. I'm guessing it's because I'm doing the items.add twice? I was trying to use "[oledbcommand variable name].parameters.addwithvalue" but I couldn't figure out how to do it with a "like" function.

Trying to figure out the right way to query a MySql database and find a user defined variable from a Textbox.Text property. I tried out the video tutorial from Beth Messi about how to create a search. The tutorial teaches us how to do it through query builder in which we just have to type LIKE@fieldname = '%' for each field we wish to appear on a toolstrip. A toolstrip menu will automatically be generated and placed underneath the form bar for us after we click ok.
Now, I would like to know how can I do this with code? I can use a code which will move the auto generated toolstrip into the tabcontrol but when I have more than 1 tabcontrol, that's when I start having problems - the toolstrips are starting to cover up the tabcontrol. I know I can move the datagridview lower but that is going to leave a big space above it.
I have 3 textboxes and need to search differently for each of the textboxes.
