View 3 RepliesI am reading data from an API feed and saving the chunks into files. When the files reach 2 MB I start a new file and write to that file. What happens now is that an entry (<entry></entry>) can get cut off at the end of a file and continues into the new file. I try and reconstruct the files by taking the last entry and combining it with the first entry of the next file but this is tedious handling the data transmission and file creation.

So the premise of an assignment I'm working now is that I will read lines from a txt file, eventually have a user select a combo box for a city, and then have the current timezone and time in that city.
For reference, each line in the file contains three tab-delimited sections which I need to access for varying purposes. An example of the format is:[code...]
What I have so far (below) is the file being read, splitting each section of the line into a multidimensional array, and then combining the "columns" into an array structure (I'm not too hot on using an array as a structure, so I may be doing something wrong).

Now assuming everything there is alright (I have a feeling something may be wrong in regards to the structure) I need to fill out the combobox with only the Location, and have that change the current time and timezone (located on the GUI as labels).
Where I've been stumped at for the past few days is how to proceed from here. I've been trying to populate the combo box, but all my attempts have failed and I'm starting to think it may be because of the method I'm using to do all this.

In my code I've allowed used to create their own mazes and save them, under whatever name they like. I've also included a few pre-created mazes. The mazes themselves are saves in .txt files in the bin/debug folder of the project, along with a .txt file containing the maze names.
I really need to publish this program to send it to my teacher, but when I publish it it doesn't include any of the .txt files in my bin/debug folder.

The streamreader works fine until the file is more than 100,000 bytes long.It reads until it reaches this point and then just ends. No error message, it just reads to this point which happens to be 2 fields out of 6 in the database stream. My question is - does the streamreader have a limit? And if so what is a workaround?

I'm writing a program that basically loads an entire text file into a streamreader variable, then reads this variable line by line and parses and writes a line into a new text file. I'm VERY new and my knowledge is mostly self-taught, but I can't seem to get out of this one. It works for smaller files, but it appears to reach a limit in characters at some point because in a file of 900 lines, it stops writing about halfway through 800 and there are no errors, the program actually completes and the message box pops up.
There are a few things with this code I already know I should fix, such as creating the new text file name, it's messy, I just don't know how.

I have VB project and I tried to use PUBLISH feature.It seems to create nicely some kind of setup program, but the setup program does not ask where to copy files (it does not seem to copy filesto target machine "PROGRAM FILES".)Is this setup program somehow different from usual installers?

Hostmonster is linux-based, so the files won't copy without assigning an index page at the site.
