I have developed a utility which I would like to make available for demo purposes. I would like to allow people use it for full 30 days and stop. Does Visual studio ships any tool to do this? if not can you please point me to a way or piece of code to do this.

View 3 RepliesI'm trying to connect to Advosol OPC UA demo server [URL] from vb.net application I'm developing, but i can not create refernece to its service interface. As much as I understand UA specification, server is based on WCF and shold expose WSDL to create web reference to it. The problem is that I can not access that WSDL definition on service url. The only message I get is that MEX is disabled for service and list of instructions how to expose mex in appconfig. I triead all the suggestions, but mex is still disabled.

I have an external library that processes image files. I'm running it against thousands of images, and every now and then the library gets stuck on certain images. If I need to skip an image here or there, no problem, but I can't have the process get locked up, so I want to impose a maximum amount of time that the process is allowed to take for each image before I force it to give up and move on to the next image.
I want to set a time limit over openFileDialog window, if, for example, 10 seconds elapsed without any user input, it will be killed automatically, how to implement that.

View 5 RepliesI have a data bound datagridview on my form. I need the datagridview to sort by oldest date, and then return only the 150 oldest. The goal is to export the 150 rows with the oldest date to a .csv file and then update the date column to the current date for only those 150.
Here is what I have so far:

I can get it filter by the column "status" and then sort by "datelastemailed". I can also get it to export only those 150 to the .csv file. My issue is that I need only those 150 to have their date column updated to today's date and then saved to the database. The only way I can see to get that done is to set a max number of rows for my databound datagridview and then loop through each row in the date column. How I can create a filter that limits results?
i have a program im working on that has 68 different buttons on 1 form. each button opens a seperate form. each from opened from the buttons starts with "helmet_" i need a way to only allow one form with that starting name to be open at a time. otherwise you could open all 68 forms at once and that would cause issues.

I need to know how can I make trial(demo) version of my program. Normally people use date & time to do it. But if user will change his system date I guess it will not work. Basically, on my form, user can select different settings for a string they want to make. For example,
Take some random string
-Put #'s 1-9 before/after word
-Put hyphen before/after number
-Put underscore before/after word
So when user toggles with these options, how can I update a label based on what they choose and all? All I want to do is display an example string of the string they're trying to build using a variety of settings to make that string like adding numbers and other characters in different orders.

I want to allow my user to add certain small pictures into a form which has a bigger pictures. My idea is to simply allow the user to move small pictureboxes that is set on the top of the form to wherever she wants it to be. My problem is that she may want more than one instance of the same picturebox. I am wondering if I can create a picturebox (complete with the picture) during run time?

View 2 RepliesI am trying to create a ListView control at run-time and populate it with data from a SQL Query, I can create and execute the SQL query returning my desired data, I can create the listview control, but I can not get the list view to Populate data from the ListviewGroup I am creating from the SQL query. Code Snippet Follows.

This will create a ListView Box and populate the data in a very odd way, every row will have 5 columns with the same data repeated in each column. I have verified (using the commented out msgbox statements you see) that the ItemGroupSQL variable is being populated correctly. but Listview1.items.addrange(itemgroupSQL.items()) does no add the data to the listview correctly
Am I using incorrect syntax for Items.Addrange?

My problem is this, when I did this it creates the connection string in design time also, but the connection varies depending on where the software is installed after the development.My question, is there anyway to set up the bound controls on my forms and everything with the typed dataset created in design time on the connection created in design time... then when the application is run, can it change the connection string at run time to get it connecting to and creating the dataset from the the correct sql database?
