How To Display Arithmetic Decimal
Oct 29, 2009
I am creating a final grade calculator for my Visual Basic Class...It takes 4 grade text box entries, adds them together and then divides by 4 to get the average grade...The average grade result needs to display one number past the decimal. (Ex: 89.2) I cant seem to be able to get the average grade result to display the 1 digit to the right of the decimal...
Private Sub Calculate_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Calculate.Click
' This event handler is executed when the user clicks the
' Calculate button. It calculates and displays the average

I've to make a program that reads an arithmetical sentence from a textbox, e.g 12.3*34+4*5-3 and then on another textbox identify and display what is the content of the first textbox, for example taking the last ex:
If I have this input:
12.3*34+4*5-3
The output should look like this:
<number>12.3
<operator> *
<number> 34
<operator> +
[code].....
This program should only read this operators like (+,-,*,/).I'm have in mind 2 ways of doing it, one with regex and the other taking the first sentence, put it on an array, then trim it, and somehow get the values of the array and identify if it is a number or a decimal number and if it's an operator and then display it.
The difficult part or the part that i can't conceptualize is how to implement it with regex (it should be easier with a regex format than storing it on a array).I write a bit of code, I used an array to store and then to print the numbers and I used the split function to separate the math operator, but I dunno how to print the operators and the tags.
vb
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim Sentencia As String = TextBox1.Text Dim i As Integer Dim arryTextBox() As String TextBox2.Clear() arryTextBox = Sentencia.Split("+", "-", "*", "/") For i = 0 To UBound(arryTextBox) Dim Array As String = arryTextBox(i)
[code].....
Btw, I also have the code to validate the input on the textbox ::wink::

I am using Visual Studios 2008. I'm trying to make a basic addition calculator. It consists of 2 input text boxes, 1 output box and one button. Below is the code I have which works, however, instead of just displaying the answer, I want it to display the entire arithmetic problem including the answer. For example. Instead of just giving me the answer of "6" in the output text box, I want it to say "3 + 3 = 6".
Here is the code I have so far.
Public Class Form1
Private Sub btnAddition_Click_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnAddition.Click
Dim num1, num2, sum As Double
[Code] .....

I must convert string data from a CNC that is arithmetic expression to a number that I can use in a VB application that I wrote. The following is what I get out of the cnc. [18722*65536+19377]/67108864. I need to evaluate this expression in my VB ap. The format of the string is not always the same as what I have illustrated.

I used math.round(decimal, 2) in the hope that it would give me two decimal places.
But when the last digit is 0 VB 2008 doesn't display it. I get "1.3" instead of "1.30"
How do I force it to give me 2 decimal places in the rounding from the decimal?

I have a decimal I want to be able to display as a binary or a hex. I keep seeing code that says Convert.ToString(decimal, 2) to display as binary string, but in 3.5 that is invalid.
Is there no built in formating for binary in 3.5?

Sample Output: (you will design your own output but 4 adjacent label boxes would be suitable) [Code] What I want to know is how do I display my numbers from 1 to 17 as either Hex, Decimal, Octal or Binary. Also how would I display that on my form?

I need to write a program that uses constants to establish the base pay, the quota, and the commission rate. The Pay menu item calculates and displays the commission and the total pay for that person. However, if there is no commission, do not display the commission amount (do not display a zero-commission amount).Write a function procedure to calculate the commission. The function must compare sales to the quota. when the sales are equal to or greater than the quota, calculate the commission by multiplying sales by the commission rate. Format the dollar amounts to two decimal places; do not display a dollar sign.The summary menu item displays a message box that holds total sales,total commission,and total pay for all salesperson. Display the number with two decimal places and dollar signs. the Clear menu item clears the name, sales, and pay for the current employee and then resets the focus.The Color and Font menu items should change the color and font of the information displayed in the total pay text box.Use a message box to display the program name and your name as programmer for the about option on the Help menu.
[code]...
So the issue is when I push the pay/calculate button everything is calculating correctly the first time, but then when I push clear to input another workers name and weekly sales and push calculate, my label is blank and does not display any info about the second worker. Then when I push summary after inputting the second worker, it's only displaying the total calculations of the first worker. I can't seem to figure out this problem on my own (After countless hours staring at my code I might add!), so I am hoping somebody can pinpoint what I have done wrong? EVerything else is seeming to work just fine.[code]...

How would I go about rounding up decimal numbers to the nearest 2 decimal places? For example $7.0000032 would be $7.01 In theory, VB would make it $7.00 but if it is > $7.00, I want it to reflect that to the nearest penny... so $3.0000001 would be $3.01

I've never seen this error before; and apparently (According to DIC) the number would have be bigger than -9,223,372,036,854,775,808 to 9,223,372,036,854,775,807, to this this exception (I'm using an Integer, but I've tried Int64, and the same thing happens).
This is where the exception is being thrown:
Dim localPort As Integer = (tcpRow__1.localPort1 << 8) + (tcpRow__1.localPort2) + (tcpRow__1.localPort3 << 24) + (tcpRow__1.localPort4 << 16)
Full Code (Method)
[CODE]...
I highly doubt that that the integer that is being parsed back is greater than, either of those numbers listed above. I've tried using Int64, and even removing the << operator, but it's still throwing this exception.

Ok so in my code i need a ****ing long as equation to draw a certain paint for getting the distance of a particle using the terminal velocity equation. which looks like this...
var.vt = ((2 * var.m * var.g) / ((var.fluiddensityp) * var.apaos * var.dragcoef)) ^ (1 / 2)
then pop that in here to get terminal velocity at a given time...
= var.xvalgraph1 * ((var.g * var.fluiddensityp * var.dragcoef * apaos) / (2 * var.m)) ^ (1 / 2)
terminalvelocityovertime = vt * Tanh(tanhx)
then as I'm drawing a graph i calculate the previous coordinate and join then with a line.so i need a value called previous which is where ever there is a var.xvalgraph1 it minuses what ever time increments have been set so alll var.xvalgraph1 turn to (var.xvalgraph1 - var.timeperpixel)
ok thats all fine this is where the equations get too much and i don't work
