I have a vb.net project containing the report viewer control that has a dataset bound to it. I have designed a letter in report viewer and need to highlight a few words by bolding and underlining the words. Can this be done? All I seem to be able to do is bold the textbox control, but then every text that resides in the text box will be bold and underlined. I cannot create a static label because the names may increase or decrease in size as well.

View 3 RepliesI am working on an application in Visual Basic Express using an Access 2000 database.I am trying to get athe following SQL query to work but get an error in Access.
The query is:
SELECT [ID], [Title], [Author], [Series], [YearPublished], [ISBN], [CoverPrice], [Style], [Condition], [Signed], [Comments], Count([Title]) AS CountOfBooks, Sum([CoverPrice]) AS TotalCoverPrice
FROM tblBooks
WHERE ID=[@ID];
The error is:"You have tried to execute a query that does not include the spec ified expression 'ID' as a part of the aggragate function."
The query works fine without the 'Count' and 'CoverPrice' count and sum to the query.
Consider this SSRS value expression :=IIF(First(Fields!MyCol.Value, "MyDataSet")=0, "yes", "no")
MyCol is a Nullable column. I want "yes" to be output only when MyCol equals 0. The code above correctly evaluates to "yes" when MyCol is 0. However, it also evaluates to "yes" when MyCol is Nothing (i.e. NULL in SQL Server). Is this expected behavior ?
I had to resort to the following longer expression to get the desired result :
=IIF(Not(First(Fields!MyCol.Value, "MyDataSet") is Nothing) And First(Fields!MyCol.Value, "MyDataSet")=0, "yes", "no")Is there a shorter version of this which also works ?

View 22 Repliesim making an application in vb.net (duh!) anyway i have created and coded the whole project and it performs exactly as i want it to (i dont need code help). my problem lies with the fact that my project is 2-3 parts
1.a setup form that gathers inital data about the enviroment stores this data encrypted in a config file. after inital setup this form is not displayed again. but needs to be run on both computers
2. the second form is the real application form im in the process of turning this part in to a background service anyway this form is the one that establishes the connection between two nodes it works correctly
3. the config files
anyway here is my problem i want to make this application distributional with just one file the (.exe) and have this .exe make everything else happen. it runs the setup form and creates the first config file which it does then it needs to produce a copy of just the second form and the config file to transfer to workstation #2 that will run independtly without the whole application which i cant make happen then it needs to turn both workstations application on by only starting one on either computer and invoke the other computer to start its corrosponding app also no idea how to make this happen any ideas or suggestions as to where to look to try to find my answers.im thinking i might need to make two seperate applications (a setup app, and the running app) and include them both in a project and use the setup.exe to to package them together this is a little side project that im making for my self to use to make programming a little easier so i plan on giving it out to some fellow students to test and tell me what they think so im not really worried about ease of use or complicated procedures yet but if it turns out to work and actually be of use to anyone else i would be willing to rewrite it to distribute to the masses but for now i just want it to work for me.
how I can reference a report variable in the Report Properties Code Window of a local report? I have tried Variables!Claimant.Value (for a variable called Claimant) but I get an error "Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference." I have tried qualifying it with Report. and also with the report name in front of it but I get errors with this also.I have the variable CLaimant defined in the Variables section of the Report Properties.

While looking in the dataset designer for a database table I am doing in visual basic 2008 I found a line for expressions under the property menu for a specific column. I need to know the code that I would put in this expression line so that this column adds up the numbers I input into three other columns and displays that number in the column. I need it to automatically calculate this for each row in the database table.

I must convert string data from a CNC that is arithmetic expression to a number that I can use in a VB application that I wrote. The following is what I get out of the cnc. I have created an application using vb.net 2008 and for reports Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 but the problem is, when I run the application in another machine away from developing box, I get the Load report failed notice. I don't have any idea on how I should approach this issue. I tried installing the CRRedist2008_x86 and CRRedist2005_x86 but still the problem won't go away.
