Forms :: Make Browser Control Open A Link In A Brand New Window?
Dec 18, 2009I have a form with a webbrowser control on it, and I load up a local file in it with some code for a rotating banner (so I can support my app with advertising).The problem I'm having is, it is for example, a banner ad in the small banner sized control, when the user click's it, it loads the new page within the same control, which is way too small.I'd like for any click in the control to load up the link in IE itself, outside of my app. Putting target=_blank so far hasn't helped. Below is the code that I am loading up in my control.

Find The Handle Of The Child Window For The Yes Button In The User Account Control Window?
Mar 20, 2010I am trying to find the handle of the child window for the Yes button in the User Account Control window so i can click it. This window has a structure with a few child windows with the same name.

There are multiple CtrNotifySink with its own Button child window or other child windows. How do i search thru the different CtrNotifySink window to find the one that contain the Yes button so i can send a click to it? I do need to find it before i can send a click, right? because i try just sending it to the main window with sendmessage and nothing happen.I even try sending it directly to the handle found by spy++ of the yes button with bm click but nothing happen?
Asp.net - Validators Do Not Validate After Postback Occurs
Apr 19, 2011I found the source of the issue i did not explain it very well. Basically i have a form with a compare validator that makes sure my txtstartdate is not less than my txtenddate. So these 2 text boxes have ajax calendar attached to it and when I select those 2 my compare validator appears and gives an error.

Javascript - CausesValidation Checks All Validators Even Validationgroups?
Jan 5, 2011I have 3 different validation groups on my web page, but when I click submit I want all of the groups to validate? It seems to me like the causesValidation="true" of the button will not validate the validators that are in their own validation group. So right now I am calling a javascript function that manually validates the groups.

Now this works fine and dandy... But it seemed to me like before I had all the groups on the page the validators where much faster than how it has to validate them now. Is there something special i have to do to my button to get all of the groups to fire when it is clicked without the help of this javascript function?

I want to include a cancel button that redirects the form to the main page but unless the required field validatiors are satisfied it will not run the code when the cancel button is hit.

Jan 5, 2011I have a custom validator in which the script validating the control is client-side javascript. In my VB code behind for the website I call Page.Validate("groupName") but my validation script is not fired at all. I placed a break point in my javascript, but it's not even touching my validation script. While when i use the same function on non-custom validators it works.
I am thinking that it is impossibly to call my client-side validation script in my VB behind code via Page.Validate("groupName"). Do I absolutely need a server-side validation function?

Aug 21, 2009I am opening a PDF file in Acrobat then am sending the Menu keys using sendkeys.AcroHandle gets the value but the send keys always working with my .Net IDE. It is opening the .Net IDE file open menu. It supposed to open Acrobat File open.

Jan 8, 2010I've got to the stage where I want to make changes to my application so that all of my forms appear to the user as a single window.
I have a main Form with a menu bar which opens up three separate forms. Only one forms is visible at any time.
One way to do this, that I can think of, is to place all the controls from each of the "auxiliary" forms on a panel contained in the main form and then show and hide the panels, when needed. I can envisage this being a big headache though.
Another way would be to give each form a menu bar and make it look like the main form so that the user would not know the difference (with a bit of luck).
I just wonder if there are better ways to do this. Maybe if I could incorporate one form into another form?

I enter some numbers into a text box, press a button and the data gets entered into the dbase. The user can hide or display child windows by checking/unchecking in a View menu on the main form, calling on either the Show or Hide methods for that form. Each time I call the show method do I also have to specify myForm.MdiParent = Me, or do I only have to specify that once, ie does vb remember that the form will always be a child? it doesnt appear to be a form property any more (from vb6).Second question relates to forms themselves. If I have created a form at design time, is it more efficient to create an instance of that form using New, or simply show the form as it is by just loading it.What are the pros or cons, memory and speed wise? In my case I will never need more than one copy of that form to appear, I'm using VB2005.

Apr 15, 2009I am trying to work on an application that disables the close button (X) on the upper right hand corner of a window. In order to do that I need to use calls to API methods like GetSystemMenu, EnableMenuItem and RemoveMenu. I can figure out how these methods work but there are certain parameters that these methods have whose values that need to be passed to them as argument is unknown to me. How can I know them.
E.G.- for EnableMenuItem, the parameters are- hMenu (handle to the menu), uIDEnableItem (The menu item to be enabled, disabled, or grayed), uEnable (This parameter must be a combination of at least two of the following: MF_BYCOMMAND or MF_BYPOSITION MF_ENABLED, MF_DISABLED, or MF_GRAYED)Now when I call this method from my application I supply the current window handle as the first argument, the item no. to be disabled/enabled as the second argument but I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT TO SEND AS THE THIRD ARGUMENT. What exactly are the possible values for those parameters- MF_BYCOMMAND or MF_DISABLED. I checked certain examples where they are supplying hexadecimal values like &HF060, &H1, 0x400, 0x1000, 0x2 etc. or integer values like 1024, 2 etc. But how would I know what exactly these values are and when to use which value.The same problem arises in case of calling RemoveMenu method.

Jun 15, 2011I have an issue in a project trying to auto-scroll down a ListView (used as Details with columns) when adding a new ListViewItem when the window is minimized. I guess we have to use TopItem property to set force the listview to scroll down.I get two exceptions when the form is minimized: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." "Index (zero based) must be greater than or equal to zero and less than the size of the argument list."
I'm just using standard .Net components (Events/Delegate) with standard way to use them.
