IDE :: Adding A Package To The Prerequisites List In VS2008 SP1
Aug 27, 2010
I am configuring VS2008 on a new machine. Everything looks good except for the Prerequisites list. On my other machine, I have "SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP1" listed, which is what I want to set my build to. However, on my new machine, I don't have this, and clicking the "Check Microsoft Update..." link does not present this as an option. how I might manually get this added to the list?
i am about develop an application and i want to do the following.
1. use vb.net 2008 for the application
2. use mysql database as the database for the application
Question:
1. is it possible to package the application by adding the mysql database so that during deployment it will be installed as well eg. vb.net 2008 and access database can be attached and deployed without installing any file to support
I am trying to run the application created in the example at [URL] The code errors at the line dtsDataReader = dtsCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior.Default) the error is A requested parameter does not exist in the package. I have checked everything that i can think of in the package Also when I try to run the package using the dtexecui utility I two errors "Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_PRODUCTLEVELTOLOW.
I am wanting to use an application to package all my files together into a setup package. I have tried InstallShield 2011, but when i click on Visual Basic .net wizard, it tells me I do not have Visual Studio.NET installed on my system. I am currently using VB2010 Express How can I fix this... or is there a better application available for packaging?
I am trying to create a simple Word doc that when the user presses the button it takes the information in the boxes and tosses it into a template style paragraph. But my issue is that I have two combo list boxes as seen in the picture. I want to have two values in the drop down list as seen in the labels next to them but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do this in Word 2007. In Visual Studio this is much easier but I am work and need to snap this out for the folks at work. Is there an option that I can choose in the properties where I type in the values for each drop down or do I have to add them in at run time?
I am attempting to read the results from a SQL query into a List(Of) and I can see the List.count while adding items to the List increments, however in another part of my code when I am attempting to read the List the List.Count returns 0. My List is as follows:
i create a Setup for my application and I want to Download prerequisites (DotNetFX and WindowsInstaller3_1) from my site location.I choose Download prerequisites from the following location: url...On that location i put this folders: DotNetFX and WindowsInstaller3_1But when I install my application on a computer with no DotNetFX and WindowsInstaller3_1 it redirect me to the Microsoft site.
I have a non-click once setup to install a windows service. I have added the prerequisites as specified (extract from doc below). But when I build the solution the prerequisites do not show up. I am choosing .net, mdac 28, crystal XI r2 and the option to download prerequisites from the same location as my application. The program dosen't look for them. What am I missing? I have another windows service that is setup identically and it drops the prerequisites in sub-directories off the.. elease folder and the setup installs them if necessary. To choose which prerequisites to install
I have created a windows project that has one form which is like a wizard. Now what this wizard does is, it runs an msi file which is my main project setup as well as running the sql server 2005 express setup file. The project embeds sql express in it so I can pass parameters such as sa password etc. That's the reason I've done it this way. Now I need it to be so that when The user clicks my .exe file it detects if the .Net framework 3.5 is installed, and if not it installs it. Is it possible to set prerquisites for my .exe file. I don't want to put all this in a setup project because sql express doesn't support msi chaining.
I created a simple VB application in Visual Studio 2010.My computer, which I am using to create the program, is Windows 7 Pro, and SQL Server 2008 is running on a Windows Server 2008 Enterprise, which I have full access to.
I want to click a button and have an SSIS package execute.I looked around on the Internet and found examples, but they do not seem to work for me.I try to add a reference, Microsoft.SqlServer.ManagedDTS.dll, as a few sites advise, but it is not listed when I go to PROJECT>ADD REFERENCE.
I also type:
Imports Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime but all I get is a squiggly green line, which when hovered over states "Namespace or type specified in the Imports 'Microsoft.SqlServer .Dts.Runtime' doesn't contain any public member or cannot be found." Below is some code I copied from one of the websites and pasted in my button click event (the path is correct), but a get blue squiggly lines under "Package" and "DTSExecResult":
Dim pkgLocation As String Dim pkg As New Package[code]....
What can I do to make the SSIS package run when I click the button on the Windows application a created?
I am working on the msi installer built by VS(Setup and Deployment Project). I 've got everything else working like charm except the prerequisites of the project.
I have a problem here. I want to distribute .net framework and windows installer along with my app installation file. The questions:1. Is it legal? Windows installer, yes it is legal. I don't know about .net framework 3.52. Which folder do I have to put the files? I tried the publish, debug, and root folder of the application, none works. I select download from the same location of my application in clickonce.
When i try to install Visual Basic Express 2010 and Visual C++ Express 2010, I get this error:Setup could not install the following component:Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Express Prerequisites x64
I'm on Windows Vista Things I've tried: Deleting contents of %temp% folder
I created a small project in VB using a SQLExpress db. So far everything has been fine. I need to take the little I've done to the customer for a look and feel approval.
When attempting to publish the project, I get the following errors:
"The install location for prerequisites has not been set to 'component vendor's web site' and the file...." You know the drill.
The two files are SQLEXPR32_x86_ENU.EXE and SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.EXE
I have downloaded the files and put them in the following directory:
CODE:
When that didn't work, I copied them to
CODE:
Same error
What's different about SqlExpress than other prerequisites?
I am trying add the prerequisites with my setup i have set the prerequisites download location to the same whwere my application is and now i am getting this type of several errors.
Error 1 The install location for prerequisites has not been set to 'component vendor's web site' and the file 'DotNetFX35SP1dotNetFX20aspnet.msp' in item '.NET Framework 3.5 SP1' can not be located on disk. I had did some search on web but they all say to make change in Product.xml file but they did not say any thing about what to change. The prerequisites i am trying to add are.
windows installer 3.1
.net frame work 3.5
SQL server express
setup build fails every time when i try to do this.
For a As Single = 1 To Picture1.Height - 1 If a < TempArray.Length Then ' Some Stuff here that i really would love not to share Else

I get an error when i try to add the Array TempArray to the List of Boolean TruthBool... The Error Says QuoteObject reference not set to an instance of an object. The Variables are declared like this
Dim TruthBool As List(Of Boolean) Dim TempArray(10000) As Boolean
I know there are a couple of other problems with this code.. and i have solved most of them in my actual program.. I just cant get this error to go away...
I'm learning how to add items from a list box to a combo box. I'm trying to follow what's going on in the function loop and comparing a boolean and selected index. I can see that it's comparing the item chosen to each item already in the combo box to make sure that it's not already there. If function finds that it's not in the list it sends back that it is true that the item is not in the list.
It then continues to the statement that adds item to the list. The code for the double click event is working fine and items are getting added to combo box. However, the code for the add button isn't functional. I'm not seeing why it doesn't work? I coded out the original code, and replaced with something I thought might work but it still isn't functional. [Code]
I have an Object structured as follows:[code]I thought this would work but I keep getting the following error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
I have a program where i let the user dynamically add DataGridViews to the interface, those are also added to a list for easy management. All of the DataGridViews have their own datasources. I am using a Databinding source to get different DataGridViewTextBoxColumns to add.
The problem is the following: When the user adds the first table the following code runs:
I am trying to add things from a text box to a list box. I am running vb.net on visual studio 2005. At the moment, i have a list box, a text box and two buttons one for adding what is typed into the text box and one for deleting what ever is selected in the list box. i understand that for the adding from the text box to the list box i use the button1_click and need to define the entry as a variable but how do i move it accross to the list box? and also how would i delete the items in the list? the code is as follows: cmdAddZp_click is the add button, Zp is the text in the text box called txtnewZp and the list box is lstZp.
Public Class Form1 Private Sub cmdAddZp_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdAddZp.Click Dim Zp As Integer = txtnewZp.Text
I have some code that adds items to a List(of Object).
Here's my original code
Dim BeaconStoryList as New List(Of My.StoryType) Dim BeaconStory as New My.StoryType Dim NewStories() as New Foriegn.StoryType = GetStories
[Code]....
But as soon as the code assigned "Chicken" to BeaconStory.Title, then BeaconStoryList(0).Title would also change to "Chicken".
With my second version of the code this did not happen.
It's as though it was placing pointers into the elements of the array rather than values. If that is the case, however, then why does my second version of the code work - I'm still passing in the same thing - aren't I?
I'm using the free version on Visual Basic 2008 (through school). The assignment is to populate a list box from user input text. The textbook only talks about populating a list of known items.ex animalListBox.Items.Add("dog") Which works just fine, however, we don't know what the user will input.
I'm still learning VB.net and there is a bit of code I have added which is an array and I want to add a list of items to the array. If that makes sense. I have 6 classes two have arrays.
Here is the code from one of the classes Public Function getItems() As Array Return _LevelItems End Function
How would I add the item list to this? Where do I put it? Like underneath it or in the items class? That code is in the Level class.
Ok so I have an array and wish to add the variables of the array to separate lines of the list box. I came across this which in some ways worked but also didn't. The second thing mentioned on the page was to us:
ListBox1.DataSource = Form2.Title This works the first time you run it but if you try to run it again nothing happens. So using the above or something else how can I get it to update the list box? Another thing I tried was to use the DataSource method but instead to clear the list box first, but that turned up an error
If I'm trying to output to a listbox, what is the easiest way I can enter a string and then a variable on the same line? I'm trying to use listbox1.Items.Add(...). Obviously outputting a string is no problem and outputting a variable is no problem, but I want to add a string and then a variable after the string. For instance:
name = "Joe Smith" listbox1.Items.Add("Name: ", name) [or something like this] [Output] Name: Joe Smith
Im trying to load data from a file into three parallel lists, each piece of data is a different data type. Using a split at the "comma", im having trouble trying to load each piece of data in each list. These parallel lists can be like this:
