View 1 RepliesIm having a problem with my program which was coded in VB.net 2005. My pc is windows XP with MS Office 2003. My program works fine for users with 2003 Office but has errors on users with 2000 Office. I was able to downgrade my pc to Office 2000 so my program would reference to MS office 9.0 (2000). This proved to be successful since both 2000 and 2003 users can now print properly. The problem now is my development pc cant create any word.application ...

The form opens a Word document but I can't control the position and dimensions of the word document. It seems that I can't manage to overwrite MS Word default settings for position and dimensions. I want to be able to display the word document close to the form. Here is the code that I have tried and doesn't work:

I have got one issue while creating the Coded UI Test. The Issue is
1) In my Application, after clicking on Download Option, I will get one Pop Up with couple of Options in it. let's say Open, Save and Cancel.
2) When I click on Open Button among the list of buttons in the Pop Up, I can see the Word Document opened in my screen.
Here what I have to do is , I need to read the content of the word document and I have to store that data in one variable.
I want to drag-and-drop a Word Document 2003/2007 control in my form by .NET Framework. Like we do for PDF in the following screenshot. If you see the highlighted text, it is Adobe PDF Reader. I can show the PDF documents in this control in my form.

In my datagridview, it displays like this "122234". I want to display all the value in that column in this format: "122,234.00". I already tried to format it to number("N") in my datagridview but when I exported it to excel and word, it shows no format.[code]

Is there a control in vb.net that is specifically designed for displaying content larger than the control itself?I know it's possible to code your own using a panel and two scrollbars, but is there an already existing method for this?
View 1 RepliesI have a regular application form with a WebBrowser control.I have strung together a .htm file (from a regular text file) which I then assign to the WebBrowser control. In the html file, I have filenames mentioned.I am trying to string together the html in such a way as to give a clickable link or button that will parse into html and open the corresponding file in another WebBrowser control in VB.I have tried using VBScript and JavaScript to put a button in the html.As long as the function or sub I call is also in the same html document, it works, but I really need to transfer the control back into visual basic where I can do the heavy lifting I need to.can I just not do this as a regular VB application? Any way to do it without adding the complication of requiring ActiveX?
View 3 RepliesThe coding that I have a problem with might make people think that I am creating some malware. So the project I am doing is associated with iTunes. iTunes allows people to have one library. There is another way, but it is very confusing to some people, and very unreliable. So my project is that I will allow people to have multiple iTunes libraries on one computer. So the problem is this. In order to have an option to choose your library, I gotta make sure that iTunes is not running.
So this is the script:
Private Sub CheckAndCloseiTunes()
retry:
'Custom class that includes the function to safely close iTunes
Dim Processes As Process() = Process.GetProcessesByName("iTunes")
[CODE]...
So when I use the Threading.Thread.Sleep(2000) code, the form becomes unresponsive.
which are the control used to display word files and excel sheets inside vb.net forms ? (i have already added reference lib.)
Platform: Vb.net (framework : 3.5)
language : visual basic
I am trying to get a reference to ElementHost control. For example in the below code I need to initially use the "testImage" content of the WPF user control to lunch the event. The WPF control is added at run-time, so does the ElementHost control, so I can't use the WPF control's name or ElementHost's name. My logic is to get the parent WPF user control of the "testImage", and then get the parent ElementHost of the WPF's user control. But I am having troubles writing it in code.
<UserControl x:Class="WpfTest"
xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"

I'd like to know how to filter the content that my reportviewer control is displaying. Example, from all the records of employees, I only want to print those whose surname starts with letter 's'.
View 2 RepliesI want my User Control to be able to have Literal Content inside of it. For Example:
<fc:Text runat="server">Please enter your login information:</fc:Text>
Currently the code for my user control is:
<ParseChildren(True, "Content")> _
Partial Public Class ctrFormText
Inherits UserControl[code]..............
And when I put text inside this control (like above) i get this error: Parser Error Message: Literal content ('Please enter your login information to access CKMS:') is not allowed within a 'System.Collections.ArrayList'.This control could have other content than just the text, so making the Content property an attribute will not solve my problem.I found in some places that I need to implement a ControlBuilder Class, along with another class that implements IParserAccessor.Anyway I just want my default "Content" property to have all types of controls allowed in it, both literal and actual controls.
I have a master page called SampleMaster.master and this page contains a Repeater control
The Repeater control will be used to display the relevant tags associated with each content page and the tags will vary between content pages
The data extraction method Tags.GetTags() is working but I do not know the best approach to populate the Repeater control in the master page dependent on what the content page is.
Would the code reside in the masterpage page code behind or the content page code behind?
WebBrowser Example.zip IntroductionBecause the WebBrowser control that we use in .NET is a COM control, not all of its uses are straightforward and some of them (even those which seem like they should be easy) require that we dip into our Interop toolbox in order to properly implement them.
A perfect example of this is loading HTML content into the WebBrowser from memory, rather than a file or a URL. Anyone who's ever used the WebBrowser control before is familiar with the Navigate2 method, which tells the control to load content from a URL (or path to a file). Loading HTML content from memory, however, is a rather elusive practice because of the many steps involved in making it work.
MSHTML.HTMLDocumentYou might notice that the WebBrowser control exposes a "document" property. The object returned by this property can be coerced to the type of "mshtml.HTMLDocument" (you must add a reference to MSHTML to your project in order to make this work) as follows:
Code:Dim clsDocument As mshtml.HTMLDocument = CType(WebBrowser.Document, mshtml.HTMLDocument)
(NOTE: You will have to add a reference to the COM library MSHTML to your project to make this compile)
Once we create an instance of HTMLDocument, a whole new world opens up to us, providing all sorts of DOM access to the content of any given Web page.
If we were to create our own HTMLDocument object from memory, we could use the "write" method to write HTML content to the document from a string variable, like this:
Code:'initialize the document object within the HTMLDocument class... clsDocument.close() clsDocument.open("about:blank")
'write the HTML to the document using the MSHTML "write" method... Dim clsHTML() As Object = {sHTML} m_clsDocument.write(clsHTML) clsHTML= Nothing
WebBrowser Control ImplementationUsing the HTMLDocument returned by the "document" property of the WebBrowser control, however, is not as straight-forward. Because of the way that this object is created and initialized in memory (by the COM WebBrowser control), the "write" method fails when called as above. In order to write content to the HTMLDocument exposed by the WebBrowser control, we must first marshal the string value to a memory space that is compatible with COM. Once the string is properly marshalled, the COM interface IPersistStreamInit (implemented by the HTMLDocument class) must be used to pass the value into the object.
Interop DeclarationsIn order to pull all of this off, we must declare several Interop pieces, including an enumeration, a function, and two interfaces. The declarations for these pieces are as follows:

I have an annoying problem with tree-view control in asp.net VB, it pushes the content page area down when branching out the menu.I have created the proper divs to separate the various sectionsMaster page is very basic:-
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

I'm using the following code to add a table to a user control in Umbraco.
Try
Dim DS As DataSet = GetData()
If DS.Tables(0).Rows.Count > 0 Then

But what happens after the loop completes (without errors - I've stepped through the whole thing), the only content left on the page is the table.
I was just wandering if we could possibly export the contents of the listview control that we can select in the visual basic 2008 application. I tried to set its properties to 'true' on FullRowSelect, HoverSelection and the MultiSelect. I want to copy and paste the content of the listvew control when being highlighted. It highlights all the items inside the listview control and when you use the command ctrl+c for copy and paste it in another application like MS Excel, it only paste one item which is the first item in the row and the rest were not.
However, in the datagridview, it ables to paste all the contents inside of the control but the listview control can't. Why is it so? do i need to add codes on it or it is just the Windows OS
is not capable of doing it? How do I copy the selected items from the listview control and paste it into another application? Same as the label control which I want to highlight or select the text of the label in order for me to paste into the other application but unable to do so. These are the two controls that I'm trying to find out on how to export their contents to another windows application.
I have one main form, and i want to dynamically change it's content, via pressing some buttons.Let's say i have a button "New user" and "Login", and if I press new user, i don't want to make new form + show, i want all labels and buttons of new user to be displayed right in the main form. And if i press login, the main form content to change to some labels and textboxes? All I can now, is just make new forms and show them to the user via .Show() command.
View 3 Repliesis it possible to change the content of the form rather than close one form and opening another in vb.net?
View 2 RepliesI have a very busy form with 120 textboxes on it. They are all named box1, box2, to box120. this form is a template for 10 other forms. I dont want to create 10 new forms and put all these textboxes on it, so is it possilbe to create a new form; form2, form3, form4 etc...and somehow copy all the content from one form to the other and retain the textbox names. I tried to cut and paste and got some strange errors, then i tried in the solution explorer to copy and past there. I got some odd error about Private components...which i did not understand. As you can imagine with all these forms and 120 textboxes on each to create them is a real effort. Is there not a simpler way?
