ASP.NET Custom Control - Template Allowing Literal Content?
Jun 16, 2010
I want my User Control to be able to have Literal Content inside of it. For Example:
<fc:Text runat="server">Please enter your login information:</fc:Text>
Currently the code for my user control is:
<ParseChildren(True, "Content")> _
Partial Public Class ctrFormText
Inherits UserControl[code]..............
And when I put text inside this control (like above) i get this error: Parser Error Message: Literal content ('Please enter your login information to access CKMS:') is not allowed within a 'System.Collections.ArrayList'.This control could have other content than just the text, so making the Content property an attribute will not solve my problem.I found in some places that I need to implement a ControlBuilder Class, along with another class that implements IParserAccessor.Anyway I just want my default "Content" property to have all types of controls allowed in it, both literal and actual controls.
When using the Property Grid and exposing a color property from an object you get this kind of interface for color selection: There are tabs for System and Web, those are fine, but the Custom tab (shown) which seems to be a subset of the standard windows color picker, seems to be hobbled. How do you create custom colors? How do you get custom colors into those white color boxes provided?
what i am trying to do is create a custom user control for my WPF forms that is a button with both text and an image. Everything that i have found is using C# and i am using vb.net.
I want to develop an app with custom forms. When I finish to create a custom form, how can I set this form as a template? I want to select this form from the templates, when I add a new form to my project.
I am coding a dynamic asp.net page in which i want to have text boxes in a page and the number of text boxes depend on a previous user input. Since the number of text boxes are decided dynamically, I am going with designing them in code rather than in the aspx page. Now I need these fields to be mandatory and so want to indicate a RED asterisk symbol in front of the label corresponding to each text box.I am really new to working in .net and I couldn't figure out how to set a specific color to a labelcontrol.[code]....
I have attached a printscreen version of my excel template here,
Now I just want to know, using vb.net code, on how can I import this data from a specific cell, including the header itself so I can insert it into mysql database.
as in VB2008 the documentation suggest creating a module or class, then selecting 'Export Template' on the File menu. Regrettably my file menu does not show the item 'Export Template' in my installation of Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2.
I have a custom dgv column and custom cell.I m trying to instance the column and pass it an instance of the cell as a template, but it's not working.my code needs a form with a button and dgv on it. When the button is click, the text in cell(0,0) should toggle from on to off. [code]
This is really annoying. I am implementing Google Maps in Windows Forms application via the WebBrowser control. The map and the directions are too large for the Window and I have the ScrollBarsEnabled = True but, the scroll bars never show up. The only way to get to the content that is 'off-screen' is by clicking and dragging the mouse downward. I have looked for other properties but, none seem to be appropriate.
I would be glad to provide code snippit if needed.
Is there a control in vb.net that is specifically designed for displaying content larger than the control itself?I know it's possible to code your own using a panel and two scrollbars, but is there an already existing method for this?
I am working on a project and I want to have a list box with a custom data template populate with user data. My question is, when I click on an item in the list box, how can I tell what item I selected? Basically, if I select "kevin", I want to display his data. If I select Dave, I want to display his data. I do not know how to get the data our after it is bound...
I have a regular application form with a WebBrowser control.I have strung together a .htm file (from a regular text file) which I then assign to the WebBrowser control. In the html file, I have filenames mentioned.I am trying to string together the html in such a way as to give a clickable link or button that will parse into html and open the corresponding file in another WebBrowser control in VB.I have tried using VBScript and JavaScript to put a button in the html.As long as the function or sub I call is also in the same html document, it works, but I really need to transfer the control back into visual basic where I can do the heavy lifting I need to.can I just not do this as a regular VB application? Any way to do it without adding the complication of requiring ActiveX?
In VB.NET,I want to create template at runtime and save it the template with name. for ex : Administrator design a page with 5 fields like using firstname, lastname, dob, nationality and job. He want to assign this page to the user with some restriction like user1 need to enter the all the fields and save it the forms as user1profile, but user2 need to enter only firstname and lastname and save it as user2profile.(in features, he can remove the fields from the form).
I have another question.I have taken an HTML file called "template.html" and got its content. Then I change some variables and save it to a new file in the same directory. Afterwards, there is something else I need to do before saving but I don't know how.In the template.html file, I have a table which should represent a table from a SQL database which means I would need to loop it. But I don't know how to loop that.
how to specify a custom icon for display in the toolbox window when you create your own custom control? Something other than the dreaded "gearbox" icon.
I have a GRIDVIEW with columns, one of which contains a CSV of possible values for the dropdown that must appear on each row.
Private Sub GridViewParameters_RowDataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewRowEventArgs) Handles GridViewParameters.RowDataBound If e.Row.RowType = DataControlRowType.DataRow Then[code].....
Depending on whether the type of control is a dropdown, textbox, or check box (feined in the table) it hides or shows the relevant control type. If it is a dropdown it needs to get its values from a CSV in a corresponding column. I have a SP that returns a these in table form if passed the id of the relevant row.How do I get that is from the gridview to pass to the drop down and load it correctly?
I'm trying to figure out how to remove a border from a tab control. The closest thing I can find is the following link but I don't know how to add this to my vb.net form.[URl]..
In DGV, if the contents of the cell is truncated, the DGV shows ellipses (three dots) (...); but as the font is set to a Gujarati font, it displays a Gujarati alphabet "ઈઈઈ" instead of "..." because the Gujarati character "ઈ" is coded with the English "." (dot) character. In Gujarati font, "." can be generated with the English character "P".So, How can I change the ellipses to English "P" character? OR How can I remove the ellipses completely?I have found a similar solution by berc on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 1:33 PM :but I am not sure it is the perfect and/or the only way to do so, AND it will really work or not
I'm using Visual Studio 2005 Team System For Software Developers. When I try to add a new DataSet to any kind of project, I cannot get to the visual DataSet designer. Rather, I get the following error (all the time no matter what the type project actually is - Windows app, Web site, etc.): The custom tool 'MSDataSetGenerator' failed. Unable to convert input xml file content to a DataSet. Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 1.
I'm working on my first T4 code generation tool to add some Stored Procedure helper code to my project. I've created custom types (e.g. StoredProcedure and StoredProcedureParameter to help with my code generation and have included the assembly and namespace references in my code:
This allows me to use my custom types in my T4 template code. However, because my custom types exist in the same project as the T4 template code, I can't recompile my project once I run the template code without restarting Visual Studio. This isn't very much fun.
I read a great article that addresses this exact issue by using the T4 Toolbox, but it's not working. Either I'm implementing the VolatileAssembly directive wrong or the T4 toolbox simply didn't get installed. I'm not sure that the toolbox got installed correctly (I'm using VS 2010 on Win XP).
I have an ASPX Custom Control which is supposed to load it's properties into an internal collection (defined with PersistenceMode.InnerProperty). Here's the ASPX
I am using custom textboxes and I need to be able to set the Text on txb1 based on the Text of txb2. I have simplied my code to the following:
Public Class customtextbox Inherits TextBox Public Event ControlReset()
[Code]....
So, when txb1 looses focus, if its Text is "fried", then it sets off txb2's ProcessAlert function. I had tried to change the value of txb2 Text in ProcessAlert function, but didnt work, so I tried to get it to raise an event instead, which then tries to set the Text property. However I still cant set txb2's Text property. The Text property seems to be set for the duration of the "life" of the Event handler. When I step through the forms controls within the Event handler, the changed Text value is there, but not outside of the Event handler.
I am trying to get a reference to ElementHost control. For example in the below code I need to initially use the "testImage" content of the WPF user control to lunch the event. The WPF control is added at run-time, so does the ElementHost control, so I can't use the WPF control's name or ElementHost's name. My logic is to get the parent WPF user control of the "testImage", and then get the parent ElementHost of the WPF's user control. But I am having troubles writing it in code.
I've created my own ascx control with button inside it. Now I'm using this control inside other control. (In my case it is a webpart). What I would like to do is program button.click logic from my custom control inside webpart
I'd like to know how to filter the content that my reportviewer control is displaying. Example, from all the records of employees, I only want to print those whose surname starts with letter 's'.
Can a custom control NEW Sub be the only one that executes when Inheriting from an existing control please?I am Inheriting from TabControl and I do not want the base New Sub called, is this possible? In other words, I do not want TabPage1 and TabPage2 to be added.A Form has an Activated Sub which runs once a Form is activated. It is a pity that Microsoft have not got such a method in the baseControl Class otherwise I could have used it within a custom TabControl.
Public Class Form1 Private Sub Form1_Activated(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Activated End Sub
