IDE :: Export Project From Pro To Express?
Oct 14, 2011
I originally created a project in Visual Studio Professional 2010. I then saved it and was hoping to be able to open it in the Express (2010) version. When I try to open the project it directs me to a page: [URL]
Do I have to go into the Pro version and export it in a specific way?
Note: By export it I mean just copying the directory (and sub directories), the solution was in.

If I put this piece of code in a new fresh vb.net form, add a button and two labels and start debug I get execution time of about 11.5s.If I put the same piece of code in a new form in an old project upgraded from an earlier version of vb.net, start debug I get an execution time of 7.5s.So I do exactly the same in the two projects but get different execution times.
What do I have to do with the fresh new project to get the same execution time ?I am not interested in improving the code to be able to calculate primes faster. I just want to know what is the significant difference between an old upgraded project and a new fresh one. I am using windows 7 64bit on a 2,4 Ghz Intel quadcore.
Public Class Form2
Private Sub Button1_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim l, h, p As Integer

I'm using the 2008 express edition. Now, I created an application that will allow the user to choose transaction in the combobox.text and input its price and quantity using an textbox.text. When the user click button1, it will be push in the datagrid/datable I created. And when the user click the button2, it must be save to excel file. The only thing I need is how to save the data from datagrid/datatable to excel. This is my code.

I'm looking to export my project view (tasks, resource and gantt) into excel, so it's similar to the Gannt Chart view in Project. I found a piace of code on the internet that will export the task list, with hierarchy (see below) but it doesn't include the gantt and I'm having trouble finding even a list of variable names that I could use to try and create one. Here is the code:

I work for a somewhat large company. There are about 160 Windows XP Pro users. We are still using Microsoft Office 2000 for the most part.We have upgraded some users to Office 2003. We are not using Microsoft Exchange.I have to export every users' Outlook 2000 or Outlook 2003 Contacts into an Excel or CSV file every 6 months as a way of backing the Outlook Address Contacts.Currently I am doing this by physically going to every pc and manually exporting the contacts. This is a large pain.I am trying to find out if I can use or create a Visual Basic 2008 Express program or script that will export the contacts from Outlook and save it as an Excel or CSV file. The name of the file should be the same as the computers net name.It should be saved in the same location, on the network, each time.I am new to programming and new to VB 2008 Express.I do not know or have any code to start with.

After further testing I found if I opened BV as Administator I was able to add the db.

I was a COBOL programmer agout 15 years ago and I am now just getting into Visual Basic. The owner of a local business has asked me to write a program to perform what I think is a simple task. In the past the business would process payroll checks and print them in-house. Now they are using direct deposit. Checks are no longer printed. The check stub though is printed. This stub is then carried to each of 10 locations across West Tennessee and distributed to the employees.
This is my task: capture the stubs to a file (PDF, XPS) and email it to each employee. This way the employee will recieve the stub on the same day the deposit is made. I can capture the output file (the stubs) and save it as a PDF file or a XPS file. I can send an email from within a program. What I don't know how to do is open the PDF or XPS file, read the email address and insert the page into the email body.

I have written a program in VB.NET 2008 Express that references a .NET managed dll. I simply added a reference to the dll to the project. I then 'Imports' the dll at the beginning of the program and then can use it. Everything works fine when I am running the program in debug mode (and it uses the dll as intended), but as soon as I go to build the project I get an errors that it "Could not reslove this reference" and "Namespace of type specifier in the Imports 'ModbusTCP' doesn't contain any public member or cannot be found." The dll is located in a different location on my hard drive to the project location, but this was referenced when I 'added reference'.

i have a project and i used NSIS to create a Setup file. I am able to install it to my system but some parts of the program do not work (and they work when i run my project in VB). For example i have a Back Up option that creates a back up but this does not work when i run the application via the installation file. Probably it has something to do with the directories?
If System.IO.Directory.Exists(CurDirectory + "Backup Folder") = False Then
System.IO.Directory.CreateDirectory(CurDirectory + "Backup Folder")
End If
how can i make it work from the installation file? Do i need to copy something somewhere?

I've got an old legacy application for communicating via serial port to an embedded controller communications bus. that someone else developed. The application is written in VB6, and is structured as two projects - a DLL to handle the connection and communications logic, with an application GUI project.I was hoping to be able to write a new application GUI (in C++ ideally) to use the existing DLL as-is, but I'm having lots of problems working out how to import it.So I'm wondering, is it even going to be possible to use this old DLL into a C++ project as is? or is it possible to import into a C# project? or a VB.NET project? (would prefer not to use VB, but can if I have to)Where I am now: I have the existing compiled executable and DLL, and these run on my system.I also have the project files, and they're all readable in notepad++ but I don't have VB6, and importing the project into visual studio VB.NET 2008 express isn't at all straightforward. Especially not without a working example to dig through and play with first (DLL project may be importable, but has 50+ things indicated as needing changing in the upgrade report. It also seems to be ignoring three .cls files that look very important to my not particularly VB6-savvy eyes... The application project has a message in the upgrade report about something "missing a design time license" and the only project files that actually seem to come into the project explorer for imported project is the project file itself, and the assembly info file.)
Most examples of how to import a DLL into VS C++ assume you have a solution with the DLL project all compiling nicely alongside your project that will use it. Or at least a .DLL and .lib and .h file... I spoke with the original developer of the code (in another city, we don't work directly) and got a .lib to match my .dll, but still have no .h file.I'm usually fine to bash through something new, but without a baseline working example of the project even in VB6 that I can get my understanding from, it makes this very hard. Also a lack of similar questions anywher google can find them on the net makes me wonder if this is something i should be even attempting.I'm working on getting a non-express copy of visual studio if that will make any difference (express worked fine for everything up until now so I never needed anything more) but that will take a number of weeks, most likely.
